@briibot, thanks :)
great sound design: I especially like what you did with the sound when the hommel is flying and eating.
it was fun to play, and I did finish the game with a _perfect hommel_ on my second try.
the controls were easy to understand and even though it was not clear to me right away that the black things are food, the graphics are very nice.
👍
thanks @jonah seems like i mad it a little too easy then
Perfect hommel! :D
It took me some time to realize the black crosses were pickups, but I don't really have an idea how to improve that :/ Really like the art style, especially the white patterns! The sound design is really nice although the music may be a little repetitive (as usual in jam games, but since they're slow pads here maybe there could me more variations?). Are you using different pickup notes depending on the current measure? Also I think the screenshake and general landing effect would have benefited from being more or less powerful depending on the landing speed. Great entry, congratulations :)
@lucien-catonnet About the pick up notes: usually i use 8 variations of the same sound for sounds that are used a lot throughout the game, but instead of playing a random one, this time i play them from low to high, so they emphasise something positive...
It was fun!! I'd say that the feedback on landing was a bit too strong!
Holy cow, the vibe is so GOOD. You really really nailed the atmosphere with the visual effects and the audio, and it's just as long as it needs to be. Fantastic job!
Lmao i felt like hommel weighed a ton with this camera shacking . Everything is good and well polished, nothing to say. The sound design and graphics are great. The only thing i questionned is to get a timer when you are in the air instead of a flying consumption like bar. It can be enjoyable to planned recolting things while falling. Nice entry overall :v: !
Fantastic graphics/audio I can tell those were the focus.
Love this style, it pairs very well with needing to have patience as you play. Makes you really appreciate the sounds, and the art and just everything. Landing felt a bit aggressive for such a nice little bee, but other than that thought it was fantastic!
First thing I notice is the absolute earthquake caused by this bug landing. xD Aside from that, not sure if it was just me, but it took me a long while to realize that the goal was to collect the black stuff. But man, the graphics and sound were really good! And the gameplay wasn't too shabby... Nice work!
I was lost at first. But once I realized what was going on, perfect graphics, perfect ambiance, I love the landing screen shake and foreground particles, and perfect game concept. I wanted to be a part of Hommel's world and just explore as Hommel more, but since this was a game jam it was of course short. Ambiance reminds me a lot of Fisholith (https://gamejolt.com/@fisholith), particularly of his current WIP Down Ward. Gameplay wise, the core mechanic is good, but I don't like waiting so long for my wings to recharge, so maybe make that faster, and the game could use some sort of extra challenge such as enemies. Especially impressive for the compo.
Nice work with the sound and graphics. I felt a little lost about the objective in the game but it's alright. Nice job!
nice game ! the graphics and the sound design are amazing, and i really liked the weight of the character, the screenshake effect when it lands is a nice touch (although its intensity could have depended on the player's speed, it sometimes felt excessive). i also liked this interpretation of the theme, having to rest to stay alive is an interesting gameplay element. Good job !
Woo! Perfect hommel. I loved the artwork, really cool art style on the background plants! I thought the meter at the bottom of the screen raised a bit too slow when you were far into the game, lots of time was just spent idly waiting. perhaps multiplying the speed the meter goes up with how many dots you collect could balance it out some more. Really cool game!
I really enjoyed how the music changes and picks up according to our actions, such an awesome touch ! Plus the game overall is quite nice with minimal but pleasing graphics. Not very challenging overall but pretty fun neverless.
I didn't get it at first, just flying around and dying miserably... But once I realized that 1) the blue things can be collected and 2) that even when not pressing space the fly barr was going down I really enjoyed this game. Loved the audio and how heavy the bumble bee is !
I like this! The strange art provides an interesting and artsy experience. The big landing thud is misleading. I thought landing hurt the player, but once I found out that you're supposed to spend time on the ground to recover, the game was easy to complete. I would have liked a bit more strategy, for example, you energy bar not going down when you're not flapping your wings, and smooth landings helping you recover energy quicker. Adding a timer would increase replay value as you could play again to beat your time. You could have multiple levels with time pars.
