LD54 — Limited Space

Total Party Swipe by Sheepolution 2023-10-03T17:44:32Z

Really cool game! My favourite submission so far!

My main suggestion would be to add easier level to start you off, with a smaller grid and fewer units. I found the game clicked a lot faster when one of my guys died as there were fewer things to juggle in my head.

Well done :)

Really impressive stuff! Feels really deep and expansive compared to any of the entries I've seen so far. I definitely struggled a lot against the keyboard controls, although I do recognise you recommended using gamepad.

Really cute! Biggest complaint is that my dumb-soup-brained self didn't realise until after I'd stopped playing that you can reset the level by holding R. So I guess for the feeble minded players a really obvious reset hint could've helped (maybe if you're able to detect a level is unsolvable or the player's not placed something for a moment).

Interactions felt satisfying, basic idea was simple but well executed. I could definitely see the basic idea being expanded with more mechanics (rotation, items with special rules (e.g. fragile, no items on top, etc) and more novel scenes/visual storytelling with the items getting packed up.

Loved the vibe and the art and music! I agree that the game would really benefit from an introductory level or two to get the player used to the controls and teach them to hide from the monster, plus more content generally.

Really lovely art direction!

Girder Panic by matt1will 2023-10-02T21:25:21Z

Overall I really liked it! Only real complaint is lack of content. I was hoping I'd get some kind of win screen for successfully getting the guy squashed between the girders after killing all the bugs.

The art is appealing despite being so basic, and movement does feel satisfying. I didn't struggle with the controls too much but the ability to change them definitely would've helped a bit.

- The art was definitely the highlight for me! I like how quirky the items are. - The movement side of the game felt like it could've just been swapped out for a timer, since all it really represented in practice was holding a button down until you reach the destination. I'd suggest either swap the WSAD movement out for a simple timer (or have the player just zip to their destination, counting the time down accordingly), or have some movement challenges. - Giving the player a reason to interact with the inventory tetris while you walk, somehow, would help make the game feel less like waiting a while between little bursts of inventory management between missions. - I liked the mood & the player character is great! Would be interested to see how the character could help support the inventory tetris game mechanics, aside from having matching items.

Lovely stuff :)

Incredible concept :D

The Bullet Box by MonsieurDuck 2023-10-08T10:21:55Z

I really enjoyed this! Could definitely see this being expanded into something really unique and special.

I'd be interested in seeing some different control schemes explored - something that has more interesting movement than a basic FPS.

The mouse sensitivity also felt way too high for me personally - would've been nice to change that.
