It doesn't want to start?
Pretty ambitious concept and it paid off. Love it.
I can't play the game
Controls too hard =( Cant take coin on the palm tree But dolphin animation is so good, love it! And music is groovy (In webgl version ui is broken =( )
I updated the WebGL build, the UI should be working now! framerate might not be great, I'll be uploading an optional windows build shortly (before the jam deadline)
Windows build is up!
Wow, the graphics are out of this world (pun intended) the controls are great (hard to say for an underwater game) I really enjoyed jumping around and collect all the rings, very fun to play.
Feels soooooo smooth. Congrats on the game, it is really enjoyable.
I liked the game! Super fun and I got a cool achievement hello tree. I played with a controller and it was easier then keyboard controls. Animation was good! If I were to see this game grow I would want the ring to be thicker, and maybe a super boost so you can make a big dolphin jump across the whole ring.
BLAST OFF! BLAST OFF!.png
The game definitely fits the theme and definitely feels like we're just going in a loop (after all we are stuck in a loop). The controllers for me however were a bit confusing, though I started t get the hang of it but the controllers also felt a little wonky to me still. Other than that though, I really liked the graphics and the song fits too :) Nice job!
Nice concept and gameplay. Dolphin is great! Personally, too used to accelerate by contiuosly pressing button, not repeatedly pressing. But the idea that you have literally to swish a tail to swim forward worth it!
The visuals, music and sfx was great. I couldn't get used to the controls however. I'm assuming it was designed to be played with a controller in mind. But it was still fun doing a 1080 as a dolphin. Really great game.
As others have said, controls were confusing. I kept getting stuck in a loop perpendicular to the world. Graphics and look of the game are great though, love the flip out of water!
So cool looking game, great idea for the given theme. Loved the narrative!
Graphics like Nintendo 64 i love it
Super dolphin is superior to all dolphins.
What an insane idea to do for a jam! I love the physics system so much, and creating a creative, engaging, and fun physics system like this for a jam is crazy awesome! Congrats!
10/10. IGN GOTY. It's silly fun and it's perfect.
Well done
Pretty fun! Was there anything to do after 32 rings? I couldn't find anything else. I have to say, I spent more time on the final ring above the tree than I did on all the other 32 rings. Great job!
there are a few other achievements, you can check them in the pause menu!
I can confidently say that this is the best torus-based dolphin game I've ever played!
I really liked the aesthetics of this game! It reminds me of an old-school pc game. It's very cohesive! (Also the dolphin animations were fantastic!)
I always dig when people experiment with alternative control schemes! The dolphins leaps out of the water were especially cool. I think one thing that was a little confusing to me was how left/right would control the dolphin. I feel like it could either turn the dolphin around (I think that is what it does here) or rotate the dolphin around the torus. I kept imagining the dolphin doing the latter, so I never quite got used to the controls.
Overall, great work!
Really good animation and impressive physics too for a game jam especially! The camera controls were a little wonky but you have an interesting system to build off of if you decided to make more levels. I loved the graphics, and the sploosh sounds as you went out of water too.
Great audio and graphics and playing is fun. Good work
Just a plain good time. I mean, the physics, graphics, sound, controls, and level design were all really well done, but I'd say the defining characteristic of this game is fun, which is really what's important in the end
This was fun! Always a fan of messing around with gravity. The controls made more sense once I realised that 'down' was towards the core of the planet, and the achievements gave it a good amount of length for a jam game.
Good combination of theme, physics and dolphins. Personally I would disagree with saying the controls were a problem, to me the camera is the actual weakpoint in the game due to its moves making it a bit difficult to steer. Collected all 32 rings & stayed a while in the orbit. One question how many achievment have Torus the Dolphin? Collected Coconuts(all three of them), got Orbit and collection achievments - did I miss some?
@oillen thanks for playing! there is a pause menu in the game (escape key, and various buttons depending on gamepad type), and in there you can confirm all 14 achievements. once all are completed, some text shows up on-screen to let you know you're done :P
Controls look took a minute to get used to but once i did it was very humorous! Great job on all the little achievement notifications! well done!
Somebody linked this when I was working on crazy gravity stuff in KOOK, I thought it was pretty wild, then saw it was a walaber game, and I was like, "Ah, that makes sense!" Bummed I missed this when I was playing stuck in a loop games. I feel like it deserved better ratings (especially for innovation). I think this might be the only jam game I've played with achievements like that. Managed to grab them all in a few minutes, which is great pacing for a jam game. For some reason I struggled the most grabbing the coconuts though, haha.
