Wow a Playdate game for Ludum Dare! I knew I had to try it when I saw this. Played it on device and it was pretty fun. I did find that cranking while using the d-pad at the same time was a bit tough on my hands (wondering how using accelerometer to control movement might work instead) and that there wasn't much consequence to continuously cranking, but overall nice work!

i didn't rate it, but when i tried to install the playdate, the windows try to block it, so i didn't go foward.

Thank you @squidgod ! So glad you got a chance to play our game. Thank you for the kind words!

We definitely want to add an overheat mechanic to the game. Hopefully we can toss that in down the line.

**Very good!** I love the nostalgia of old games

Hey, thanks @squidgod! We owe you a ton for helping us learn the ways of developing with the Playdate SDK :) Really appreciate the kind words!

Great to see a Playdate game here, good job guys!

random-ideation-studios 2023-05-05 04:47

Great thing man! A game for playdate But you can't expect everyone to have a playdate and for me the SDK didn't work!!!

Try a windows port and I will try!

affinitychris 2023-05-05 04:53

Ah, thanks for the feedback @random-ideation-studios - we'll have to check the SDK again, they _just_ put out a new update, so it's possible that something wasn't compatible :worried: - Oh, just to make sure, you _do_ need to unzip the file before dropping it into the Playdate simulator (figured I'd mention it in case that step was missed!)

i love the playdate as a "game engine" or whatever. the game is fun and even tho is kinda hard to play on the simulator, i still enjoyed it

First time ever playing a playddate game, it was really good ! looks like a great tool to work on for a game jam scope. I think the game could be more interesting if the difficulty increased over time (i'm not sure if that's already the case or not). I stopped after 100 , and i didn't felt any progression in the level. Otherwise, nice music and graphics

renardgames 2023-05-05 11:13

Unfortunately couldn't figure out how to put it on the simulator

codexzier 2023-05-05 18:21

Too bad I don't have one of those. I would load it immediately.

Didn't except to play a game on a Game Boy-esque simulator this game jam, but this was pretty fun. The music was great, too.

Cool style!

I really like this retro art style. It reminds me of the memories when I used to play those monochrome game consoles long, long ago.

I think this game is very cute, though it's very difficult from a pure PC player... If I had a playdate I'd love to give this a real shot!

Cool entry. I tried it on device and for 173. As SquidGo said, this is a bit difficult to control the aim, hold the console and turn the crank at the same time. The difficulty curve takes also a bit too long to pick up and suddenly multiple enemies can appear at the same time. But overall this is really cool. The art is neat and easy to read. The scale animation when enemies appear works really well.

The game is very beautiful, but I downloaded the zip and I didn't find the game.

I love this art, reminds me retro games from my childhood
