Very cool! I felt a little silly yelling demonic chants at my computer :)

slavturtle 2024-04-15 21:48

Amazing idea, 5 for innovation.

fredrik-andersson 2024-04-15 21:50

Really innovative to use the microphone! :O

anaastaska 2024-04-16 20:07

It was really interesting, that i needed to use micro for game, but it is quite funny. Great job.

roughskin 2024-04-16 20:09

HAHAHAHAH, oooh, i look like a buffoon screaming at the microphone, if you could add voice detection, so that you dont even have to play any buttom would be a 10/10. Nice entry!

lilitholiveras 2024-04-16 20:10

Very interesting mechanics, I would like to see this mechanics more developed, great overall!

hamster-cheeks 2024-04-16 20:28

Mechanics are very interesting and unique. The only note I have is that a short tutorial would've been helpful

littlegamer 2024-04-16 20:42

Nice concept but either my microphone didn't work properly or I'm not understanding what I have to say exactly, because I find it a bit hard to summon and channel power... Also, the game should give a bit more informations to the player, for exemple it's hard to know if the enemy boss still has a lot of HP or not.

Still a great idea and would love to see more done with it !

coderaurus 2024-04-16 20:44

Didn't quite grasp the mechanics, but managed to summon ONE monk :D Nice work using a microphone. Some of the sounds were slightly too high pitched.

Good work!

appreciate the feedback here! glad everyone is having fun yelling into their microphone <3

courtneylapin 2024-04-17 16:07

I really wanted to play this but it seems like it wasn't getting my mic. Would be nice to have a little menu to choose audio devices, or do a mic check. I tried both the web version and downloaded version.

Side note, I died way faster in the downloaded version of the game, wonder what that's about. Side note x2, The audio and visuals are great! awesome presentation!

blues 2024-04-17 17:49

@courtneylapin

So it's possible the game will not work with microphones with more than 4 channels godot was throwing a fit about my built in mic.. so that could be the case.

The downloaded version does actually summon guys faster cuz I was noticing the game running a bit slower in hre browser. But I might normalize the values based on your feedback.

Thanks so much for checking the game out

This works so surprisingly well. The visual feedback on the audio input helps a lot to encourage getting louder. Only thing I wish is that summoning had you just click a unit and then do the audio input, instead of having to click a type and then click the summon button.

Really awesome idea to use your voice to generate and use mana!! It would be really nice if there were keybinds for the buttons. That way you could hold down like q for generate mana and then quickly move to speaking dwarf or wizard. That would maybe help it be still fast paced but a bit more control in the players hands. Also that title screen, it beautiful!

boxedmeatrevolution 2024-04-22 21:36

Enemy golem defeated! At first I was trying to blow into my mic to generate sound, which worked, but also made me lightheaded halfway through the battle so I needed to change up my strat :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Fun and silly idea. Perfect for a game jam

chispalbc 2024-04-22 22:32

Really original and fun. I played first the download version and didn't know why i was losing so hard... Then i read the coments and saw you explaining that the web version is better balanced and yes, i won first try. You might wanna add some warning haha. Also at first i thought this was some kind of voice recognition game haha. Good job

blues 2024-04-23 01:21

@chispalbc

okay i finally got off my butt and uploaded a build with the same difficulty as the web build. And I swear i didn't secretly hope people thought the game had some sort of voice recognition when I uploaded it :^). although i might look into seeing how hard it is to to plug audio input into large language model..

thanks for playing!

Hahahahahahahaha! Great entry! Combining sound as a way to summon NPC is a really interesting take on designing the gameplay of "summoning". The art is also really cute and the whole UI and UX are very intuitive. The only improvement that I would suggest is that the gameplay can be more sustainable. Right now, it's like a simple single layer of gameplay. Maybe in the future there can be more to explore?

dekara 2024-04-25 18:30

Super cool entry. The idea is really unique end everything is super polished. Of course it is very simple, but for three days great work. Definitly a concept that could be brought further. Felt super fun to just chant some rythmic stuff to summon folks. :)

eric-schmiel 2024-04-27 01:40

Love the tunes and audio! I really struggled with pumping out guys fast enough to not get overwhelmed by cyclopses  but it's fun to drone into my mic *for power*

Throat singing seems OP

eric-schmiel 2024-04-27 01:43

After messing with it some more, I was able to get guys to come out a lot faster going 'ba ba ba ba!'. I think I didnt realize going too loud into the mic was keeping the guys fom coming out but I was also basically holding my mic right up to my mouth

jamieok 2024-04-28 18:01

Took a minute to figure out how to do anything, a small tutorial showing how to generate ether and then summon would have been nice. After that, this is a cool submission! First Ludem Dare game I've played that uses voice activation for gameplay so very unique, great job!
