LD46 — Keep it alive

Serveryard by ping78 2020-04-25T04:58:42Z

There are some good bones here, but not much seems like it really works. The gas canister fills at an obscenely slow rate, and the nozzles become immediately unusable after you use them (even if you only fill the can a little bit). I didn't really know what to do with the axe/trees, and then I guess at some point I failed the game without realizing it because eventually I came back and the screen state was failed?? Very cool how fleshed out the visuals looked, and the diegetic start screen is a very nice touch, but definitely could have spent some more time fleshing out the core mechanics of the game.

twisty shooty by chromableedstudios 2020-04-25T05:02:59Z

Graphics were, uh... something. Audio was very nice. Controls were super interesting in how novel they were, but felt like they could really *use some work*. I get what you were going for, but it mostly just felt frustrating to control and shoot. Not really sure how the theme is relevant here.

Feed Him by nanocube75 2020-04-25T08:09:52Z

Mechanics were kind of wonky - maybe just not fully implemented? Seems like I could only punch one person at a time, no matter how many were within my "punching range." But, it's very clear you spent some good effort on setting up the graphics and music for the game, and the concept is definitely one of the most unique I've seen in the jam so far!

LifeLine by pomeroyb 2020-04-21T23:31:46Z

Excellent for a game jam entry! Great concept and really cleanly executed! Suggestions: * Heartbeat counter isn't very useful because you can't look at it during gameplay - maybe some sort of visual or auditory feedback would communicate status better to the player * Obstacle placement felt super random and sometimes unfair, and the little off-center-but-not-quite ones that still get when you're holding on that line felt a little cheap

What a horrible night... by chertkov 2020-04-25T04:15:47Z

Very cool concept! Appreciate the consistent art style but the environment was pretty noisy, making it hard to focus on my objective. Abilities could use some cooldowns, I think I broke it by just spamming space bar until I had an obscene amount of minions. Music was a very nice touch - fit the aesthetic quite well.

Toasted Dreams by HakunaSoft 2020-04-25T04:21:16Z

Kinda dull gameplay, but very cute! Background music was pleasant and fit the theme well. Gameplay-wise I couldn't find much reason to play more than a couple times. I'm not sure it ties into the "keep it alive" theme very well, and there didn't seem to be much to do other than go up and down in a very limited space until too many "double move" butter waves spawned in a row.

Keep the Heart Alive by QYOUK 2020-04-25T04:26:19Z

Appreciate how cohesive the visuals and sound were. Gameplay was a little wonky, the viruses seemed to just get inside the heart's bounding box and become impossible to hit. Eventually I accidentally bounced myself out of the body and was unable to re-enter. The tuning on the space-to-jump added a fun and unique element.

Protect Egg. by devook 2020-04-25T04:50:55Z

Woo! Thanks for playing my game folks! I don't want to clog up the comments too much with responses but wanted to acknowledge all this good feedback: @jeremy-ryan Thanks! I spent way more time than I should have tweaking the meteor telegraphing, so I'm glad that it felt right to you. @crispypear The origins and aspirations of Egg are mostly a mystery. I refer to the great philosopher Socrates wisdom on the subject, Plato's records indicate that he often said, "Hey, what's up with that egg?" (Editor's note: He definitely said that. Don't look it up.) I will let you in on one bit of Protect Egg deep lore. The egg is that of the last remaining Dodo bird. This is Protect Egg canon. @pomeroyb So glad that came through! I turned those knobs many times to get a level of egg control that felt right to me, glad I was mostly in the ballpark. @shadoninja You made it halfway through my originally expected max playtime! (the difficulty currently plateaus at 2 minutes). Bummer that you got blasted into the no-control zone so early :( You actually *do* get to control the egg in the air *sometimes*, but if you get lobbed too high, I steal it from you (I thought it was funny to watch the egg slowly drift off the platform). It definitely still needs some tweaking. @snip-man Thanks! The corner-hiding strategy can pay off when executed carefully, but the meteors are also programmed to expect it. There's a bit of timing to get it right, but when you do it becomes somewhat exploitable (and a thing I need to patch, I think...)

Potato Pandemonium by ProForce 2020-04-25T04:10:28Z

Deceptively fun gameplay! I can tell a lot of love went into the making of the chef, specifically. With a little "guided randomness" in the potato balancing there's some real potential for a compelling loop. Text would have been better without italics, and I'd like to hear some sort of noises, even if it's just stock sound effects or mouth sounds.

Ravenhaul by Rongo Matane 2023-05-17T06:02:31Z

Absolute masterclass. The sheer effort required for integration alone... So many systems, and so many little details that had me saying "no way" out loud, and then I looked at the team behind it and it all made sense. Brilliant entry! Only thing missing is a Save Game feature and a Switch build.

Holding Out by Jeremy Ryan 2023-05-19T21:34:50Z

Wow what an expertly crafted entry! Amazing amount of polish and a satisfying gameplay loop! I'm struggling to find anything to critique but I suppose after the 3rd or 4th delivery I started to feel like the math just wasn't there in terms of how many bullets I had vs. how many zombies I needed to clear to use the phone. Great core loop, though, and I definitely felt myself wanting to play again instead of continuing on my final play/review cycle.

Deadwood Delivery Dash by krzymsky 2023-05-17T04:24:46Z

Had to mute the sound to get through it, wowww what a great aesthetic and fun little gameplay loop though!

Full points for Mood! Nice little vignette

Culling Cards by picross 2023-05-17T03:29:52Z

Dope gaaaame! Aesthetic is super dialed in, mechanics are deep enough that I played more than once!

Cat Delivery by Nathramn 2023-05-17T03:00:22Z

Lovely game! I got stuck in a state where I couldn't shoot any more a couple times, but a quick restart fixed it.

Superbloom by devook 2023-05-17T03:02:59Z

@kanity Should work with either gamepad or WASD, although the tutorial prompts can get confused sometimes when on m&kb with a gamepad plugged in. If you had a really hard time controlling, it might feel better after inverting the y-axis in settings?

Superbloom by devook 2023-05-17T03:57:35Z

@drazil100 We got a bit of feedback like this so just wanted to clarify: the bee is just a visual! You are actually only steering the camera, so you don't need to correct for any erratic movement from the bee. We definitely could have communicated this to players better with a reticle in the middle of the screen or something.

Superbloom by devook 2023-05-19T21:09:26Z

@jeremy-ryan Every game jam I tell myself I'm not going to make a physics-based character controller because they're so hard to tune, and yet...!

Thanks so much for the in-depth response and the little fan-art! That's a first for our team! And yes we definitely spend a lot of energy purely on coordination and getting everyone's assets in. We always have a few brand new people each jam, but we also have a bit of an advantage as a few of us are professional developers who have worked together at Unity for a few years. I've been acting technical lead for the last four years, so my major focus on these jams is often just keeping our scope under control and ensuring everyone is empowered to do good work. Our [Global Game Jam team](https://leftout.itch.io/the-killing-tree) was actually almost twice as large!

Carnage Courier by DecrementedPalindrome 2023-05-17T03:44:03Z

Definitely left me wanting more spaces for my ship and a little more challenge. Really cool concept and awesome music, though!

Baby Juggling by BridgeOnAStick 2023-05-17T03:53:17Z

Feels like the core mechanic could use a little more tuning to get it feeling responsive and fair, but good concept and tight execution! My highest multiplier was 17x and achieved totally on accident - could never really get above 5x from intentional baby juggling

Space Plants by PSV Games Studio 2023-05-17T04:02:45Z

Clicking through [your profile](https://gamejolt.com/@PSVGames), it becomes immediately obvious **you've made this same game for 5 different game jams**. Didn't play or rate.

Blockhead Bill by Prismapunch 2023-05-17T02:43:18Z

Pretty cool! Controls were a little tough - hard to click the boxes or customers once they start piling up, but otherwise good execution with a cohesive art style, lots of funny little jokes.

Sorting Center Savant by ZungryWare 2023-05-17T03:36:44Z

Great puzzle design for the timeframe! Would love to see a version of this game built out with graphics and sound

LD54 — Limited Space

cyber_serpent by picross 2023-10-04T19:16:10Z

Amazing entry! Only thing I'd change is maybe shrinking the player's hitbox a little bit - had a couple "oh come on!" moments when trying to squeeze through a tight corridor. Otherwise though this is super polished; gameplay feels well-balanced and is incredibly addicting! Leaderboard was a great idea!
