Great
Great, game mechanics are polish and work very well, the balancing I think is very good for a Gamejam
Special mention for Design and sound
Well done guys
Nice entry ! Graphics, audio and mood are great. I wish I could control my units like in an RTS rather than in a tower defense, or having different kind of units (=tower). Anyway, well done ! ;)
I like this game! Good job with Graphics and sound. I played through the whole thing until the mine was out of gold. I also like that you had a backstory, that made it more interesting and you knew why you're attacket etc. To improve, maybe there could be some type of campain where you're trying to keep the city alive without going bankrupt. And then managing army, and not using more gold than nessecary right away by having too many troops so that you run out later when the mine is out. Basically survive for some amount of time with a finite amount of gold in the mine. But really cool game!
Pretty fun game! Wasn't too hard to understand, easy to play, and definitely gives the player some room to improve if they want to beat their score (got -2 on the first run). The art is cute though the pixel art style is inconsistent (some pixels are bigger than others, there's that one downscaled piece), not a flaw but not a plus either. Pretty interesting take on the theme, I really liked the concept! And you did great at keeping it clean and concise - congrats!
Nicely done! That betrayal sound effect made me jump out of my seat.
Wow a very good game in all his aspects!
I like the aesthetics and sound design! The gameplay might be worth expanding upon, but for the purposes of the jam it was on point.
Really good game. All the graphics, the sounds work really well. The game really fits the theme. After playing for a while, players will figure out the best strategy to win. Humor and mood do not really fit this game.
Your game is the most fun of the games I've played so far! Good job :-) There is a lot of strategy to it and I did better on the second play through. Good Job!
I liked the concept of the game and the aesthetic was good with the style. Congratulations on the project.
Gostei do conceito do jogo e a estética ficou boa com o estilo. Parabéns pelo projeto. :flag_br:
Very nice game :) I really enjoyed playing it. The take on the theme is really obvious, but too much of a negative feedback. I felt punished for optimizing the production. Nevertheless, a very nice game :)
My favorite game so far :-) would definitely play this again if an expanded version got released.
Wow this was a really good game. i genuinely enjoyed playing it and will definitely suggest it to others. Really good music. Really good sound. Really good art too. Wonderful job!
Check out my game if you would like https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/virus-detected
Holy cow this was so good. Everything checked out, I had a ton of fun playing... When I finished I was left wanting for more. One little thing is that it didn't feel like the game was that challenging, and when I made a mistake (say didn't increase the salary by enough to defeat the enemies) it was very punishing. I'm not entirely sure how you'd balance that, but something that would make the difficulty more apparent by allowing the user to make more mistakes while making each mistake less punishing. That might improve my enjoyment of the game, but barely, it was already great. I'm very impressed.
Nice and round. Liked it.
This was great. Well-balanced, great art and music, and a fun concept to boot. 'Nuff said.
That was an incredible game! Definitely one of the best games I've played this jam! Fantastic story, world, gameplay, use of the theme...yeah, I would come back to that game. It was brilliant. The song became a bit repetitive after awhile - I think it needed another one or two songs that would play once this one was done. All in all, an incredible game and I hope more people get to play it!
Nice game dude, for a second entry, it is great ! Good job !
Thank you all for the feedback! I'm sorry for not replying much in this thread, because we're trying to squeeze out as much of our time as possible and focus firstly on playing your games and give useful feedback in return.
It is busy time for us but we really appreciate you playing and definitely will meet you again on your game's thread
How dare you, maggots! I gave you money and a nice home, and you BRETRAYED ME ?!?
* We are really attached to our units * Not too hard * It is a strategy game but you are always active * Nice graphics * Perfect music & sounds * Efforts were done on the scenario * The leaderboard
* It could be better if everything holds in one screen (no need to move the camera) * Maybe the graphics (we can always do better but it is already good) * Maybe explain more the balance between salary/upgrade * Maybe explain more the betrayal
I really appreciated playing your game, thanks
This could be a real game. With a few refinements I would play it for hours. Or hop in for a few minutes on a daily basis. I love the pixel art aesthetic. The systems and characters go well together with the minimalist art style. And good sound track too, very haunting.
Great entry.
I love these graphics and the music in general fits the theme. If I have to say something bad, maybe it's too easy. But great work. Seriously, I love the pixel art. We keep in contact! :3
Fantastic
This is a very intriguing entry, a really well developed and complex game for a game jam, I really loved that this game has a good story which is pretty rare to find in ludum dare, this was really cool, the art is beautiful, I loved the animations and the UI things pretty well done, the audio is very good, the music is perfect and the sfx is pretty good, the gameplay is fun, and I am really surprised, this game is really polished one of the coolest games I've played so far ! Great team work, congratulations, the game is awesome !
This was a really cool game! Well done!
I did hit a bug in the Unity web player version. I'm not sure what triggered it, but I took a screenshot of the console error log in case it helped you debug it! phaeria_bug.PNG
I had fun with this, even though I only walked out with 34 gold. Because of the way units stacked, I thought it was often hard to tell at a glance how well I was doing defending different parts of Phaeria. I liked the tavern upgrades but wanted more understanding about how unit types etc worked. The graphics were really good and the music was alright. I especially like how well this submission is linked to the theme. Awesome to see more HTML5 strategy games on the web and thanks for an enjoyable game!
Hey, that's a solid entry ! I love the mecanism where you have to spend your money to preserve it. What would be really cool is some stat showing how much you have spent, and how much has been stolen. Invaders description was great, and there is an impressive amount of polish for a jam game.
I immediately fell in love with the graphics, this is soooo intriguing and charming, kind of old school. The music is very good too. The rules of teh game are clear and even the factions are itneresting. The gameplay is fun and very interesting. Slight criticism - i don't know what the different unit types do, and i'm never sure if my guys are enough, mostly because i cannot predict how the battle will go. I guess the salary is something that i do not see anwhere, but which buffs the units stats. This makes it difficult to learn when you have enough units, which is the most important thing in the game i guess. I'm also not exactly sure when other factions are going to attack. Anyway, i'm off to play another round (which is a rare thing for an LD game), only got the poor ending :D
I'm wondering if i can just up all taverns, keep salary low and if an attack starts, push salary up a lot (then low again when no attack is happening). Great game :)
PS: 48K, now i'm staisfied :D
PPS: If you don't mind, how did you implement the leaderboard (who hosts it, how are you coupled)?
Thanks again guys for playing!
@law5guy urgh it's probably a sound compression issue on WebGL. I'm working on it right now, but in the mean time it's not game-breaking, only affect the sound quality a bit. And if you close inspector windows the game will run more smoothly (mass log printing cost a lot :cold_sweat: )
@lars-dk and @rongo-matane : (At least for the Jam version) We want player to enjoy the game at an abstract, macro level of strategy without having to worry too much about detail. So even though each unit is slightly different, since you can't really choose unit type or control them anyway, the information about that unit's stats is redundant anyway so we didn't show it.
@rongo-matane we made a quick heroku server that accept and return highscore. The server is dead-simple and the amount of data is minimal (only name and score) so it'll take probably tens of thousands of play each day to reach heroku's free plan limit
@vfabien21 that's a really cool idea! I love charts too! There could be a big pie-chart to see how much of the pie was eaten by your enemies and how much was spent feeding your own unit! :joy:
This is one of the better jam games I've ever played! Given time and level design, this core framework could be turned into a 90's throwback classic strategy game. Beautiful and sounds great!
This is definitely my favorite game so far!!!! Great job!!!!
This might be my favorite game so far. I love how each area was introduced incrementally, and had its own charm. Gameplay was engaging and intense - maybe a little too difficult for my tastes - but still a lot of fun.
1st place on today's leaderboard, woot!
This was pretty fun :)
Woohoo, grats @ddrkirbyisq! On top of today's #1 you have beaten my own best score as well
Thank you, of course, for the information! But, I haven't played such games for a long time. I prefer gambling more. I've been playing such games for almost a year. And I concluded that the first thing to do is to find a proven and reliable gaming platform. And the second is the games you like. I was able to do it thanks to this https://kasynogryautomaty.pl/ internet review. Here I found a lot of useful information about free slot machines as well.
