Hey, sweet game! Love the aesthetic; especially all of the character pictures; really great work on those! The green text storyline was also very clever and had a fun ending. The interaction with the interface could definitely be improved; it felt pretty clunky, but overall awesome job! Keep up the great work!

mrpiedpiper 2018-12-04 09:28

That was great! I'm a little ashamed to say I wasn't expecting that ending. You caught me quite off guard XD It lacks sound, but other that that and the wonky textbox bit, this worked really well!

My only problems: Donnie and Johnson seem to have the same Employee #.

I was stuck forever restarting the game and trying every combination on the guy who's number was "12354".

Again, awesome job!

falak 2018-12-04 17:07

Nice job! The interface could be better but other things doing their job great! Good Luck!

guillaume-baril 2018-12-05 00:26

Nice game ! I tried for 5 minutes to pass the first screen but each time I click send it was doing nothing. Yes, I entered the number of the employee :p Good job !

smuhlaci 2018-12-05 00:26

WebGL build please :( I liked the graphics and the concept. I wish to play but I don't have Windows PC.

nkrim 2018-12-05 00:34

Love the concept and aesthetic, reminds me of one of Lucas Pope's (of Papers Please and Obra Dinn) LD games here: http://dukope.com/play.php?g=uns

@sanjeev @falak @mrpiedpiper @guillaume-baril Hey! Thanks for playing my game and I'm glad y'all had a great time. If I go through with the post-jam version, I'll have these issues resolved.

@smuhlaci I got you fam. It's up on my itch.io link.

@nkrim Thanks for playing! Yeah the aesthetic and the concept is inspired by Unsolicited, Papers Please, and a bit of Obra Dinn. I really love those games.

mrpiedpiper 2018-12-05 05:55

@shulololo Just realized I wasn't very clear, so here's bit of a clarification: I was stuck because my brain saw the numbers and how orderly they were and read them as 12345 every time I looked at it. There was no game breaking bug there, only my game breaking brain XP

shulololo 2018-12-05 06:16

@mrpiedpiper Lol that Freudian slip. I guess I should change that to 12345 so it won't happen again haha.

tetralogia 2018-12-05 12:03

When I started playing I thought it was a paper-please-like game and was so frustrated I couldn't choose who to fire. This is a smart move, I like the narratives behind the game design. The graphics are so good. It's a cool experience that doesn't need much more work to be a complete game. Nice entry! If you make a post-jam release, having some sound design would be great!

shulololo 2018-12-05 21:34

@tetralogia Thanks for playing! Yeah I think I should've thought about sounds during development. Hopefully, I'll get around to that for the post-jam release.

eddie-li 2018-12-06 01:20

Very interesting concept. However, there were some bugs that made the game hard for me to play. When I hit "SEND" it ends up not doing anything and I get stuck there. Not entirely sure why. But the game itself looks very promising!

afroant 2018-12-06 07:22

Man, that was some Doki Doki stuff. I couldn't directly look at the screen for fear of...something. My only complaint is that the green text was forced - that kid needed to get fired. The company can't assume the liability of child workers. Plus, he has two other jobs, so he'll land on his feet. Really good job!

konsumopfer77 2018-12-06 15:52

Looks promising but i somehow cant click send or at least there is nothing happening : ( (as i see Eddi-li hat the same bug)

still looks pretty cool thou

shulololo 2018-12-06 20:10

@eddie-li @konsumopfer77 Thanks for playing! I'm guessing when you both hit send, nothing happens and a red X-mark appears on top. For now the game will allow you to choose only two correct employees to fire in each level, it won't allow you to fire just one person. I've released an updated version with some hotfixes for now that will let you know which pink slip you're on. The updated version also comes with more instructions. If that's not the buggy problem and the red X-mark doesn't appear when you press send, then I'll look into the issue more soon as I come home =).

@afroant Thanks for playing! I initially wanted to allow the player to be able to fire anybody no matter what. I just didn't have enough time to work on that part but hopefully with a post-jam release I'll be able to work on that. I thought about that weird and dark stuff near the end of development and was hoping it would work so I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

azayiah 2018-12-07 07:18

Very enjoyable game, I think that adding audio would have really killllllled it haah but still great

konsumopfer77 2018-12-07 13:30

@shulololo looking forward for the updated version!

generictoast 2018-12-08 07:40

Fun little game with a great personality and a cool artstyle! I managed to find the (not so secret?) ending where i took down the boss. This reminded me of papers please with the similar concept of choosing who to fire or keep. A small problem i had with the web version of the game (i was playing on chrome) was that the text box was a bit small and difficult to click on. Other than that, i really enjoyed playing it! (Also RIP bill's dad)

jongjo 2018-12-08 12:29

An interesting concept with a lot of potential. The green text ending was a great way to add story and depth to a seemingly simple game. I think with more time, you'll be able to come up with ways to make those hints more subtle.

I loved the portraits and found some of the profiles pretty funny. I liked the big text one because I wasn't expecting a change in the form's format.

Great job.

2018-12-08 15:27

good game! would have loved to know that it would get spooky before i played it. I don't really like spooky stuff.

peachtreeoath 2018-12-10 08:20

I'm actually gonna rate this one pretty high on graphics. For a pretty basic UI, I really liked the squiggly animations for personality. It honestly bumped up the look and feel of the game by a couple magnitudes for me...I'll have to put that one in the toolbox myself.

At first I was wondering why I had to type employee #s when I could just click the portrait, but I understood once the plot started unraveling. PS. I was hoping the dog was behind everything :)

shulololo 2018-12-12 05:13

Thanks for playing!

@generictoast Yeah I need to work on that text box as soon as I have time later this week.

@jongjo I'll try to think of ways to make the green text more subtle in a post-jam version. Maybe if I get rid of the green font it might be more effective.

@peachtreeoath Really glad you enjoyed the art! I was about to settle with pixel art for the profile pictures but I was playing Hotel Dusk at the time and got inspired by that art style. Really glad that I went with the line wobbles in the end.

rjhelms 2018-12-13 03:35

I definitely get the Papers, Please vibe here. Nice.

This would be really cool with multiple endings - unless I missed something, I had to go with the "green text" one.
