LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Sacrificial Sam by HitchH1k3r 2018-12-09T00:25:32Z

Awesome game! I had a lot of fun playing this. The puzzles were really good, they were challenging and required everyone's skill in some way. When you got a new character, I loved how you were immediately introduced to their skill. The game was self explanatory (I didn't read any of the description or tips/tricks), and that's something not easily achieved. Well done.

I did have difficulty identifying some of the tiles, especially the gap in the floor and the top of the wall. I also felt that it didn't make sense that I couldn't push a box onto carpet.

Another suggestion is to make the character slide smoothly on the ice instead of hopping really fast.

Overall, a fun game! Great job!

Super Sellout by Moski 2018-12-07T12:59:49Z

Incredible job! I love the idea of stickers and coupons. Aesthetically it looks fantastic.

After playing it a few times, I realised that it turns into a different game as it speeds up. At the beginning, the player is able to move left/right and you often need to run and jump to make it over the ledges. When it speeds up, I usually find myself awkwardly pushed up against the edge of the screen and only moving up/down because I can make the jumps without running up anymore. It did feel a little clumsy because I was being pushed by the edge of game. However, I actually found my rhythm better not having to worry about the left/right movement.

Maybe the game doesn't need to let the player move left/right like a lot of endless runners, just up/down. That may solve the problem of being pushed against edge and allow the player to be framed better in the screen. There are enough buttons to worry about already (up/down,f and space) especially at a fast pace.

I hope that made sense and is helpful ><

Tama Gone Wrong by Lucien Catonnet 2018-12-08T12:06:47Z

Cute game! Initially I didn't know you could interact with the people because the game wouldn't let you at the beginning. So I thought only the red things had interaction. Maybe you can interact with the people in a friendly way at first, then it will be more surprising when Tama gets bigger.

It would also be great if you could interact with more objects e.g. rummaging the fridge for food, that way its more of a challenge finding what you can or cannot eat.

Let's Join a Kitty Cult! by primitive-concept 2018-12-07T11:31:23Z

The graphics are nice and simple. The dialogue and the concept were pretty funny. Overall, I had fun playing it. I did find it really difficult to fight off the cats in the left house because they would swarm me. I suggest the movement of the cats be a little bit slower so the player can have a bit of room to fight them. I found myself spam clicking because they cornered me so quickly.

Great job on the game!

The Mist by tpamir 2018-12-06T12:10:03Z

The atmosphere of the game is spot on. It would be nice for the sky to change when it's night, that way you get a better idea of how much time is passing. I feel the current symbols aren't that representative of day and night.

Another suggestion would be to put the details in the one speech bubble instead of a separate tab. I'm always forgetting the skills so I'm constantly swapping tabs. I think there's enough screen space to fit it all in one bubble.

I really enjoyed this game and found myself playing it quite a number of times. Great work!

Nice and simple concept. Easy to understand and play. Cat and letters are cute.

Downfall by Dorukh 2018-12-04T10:35:46Z

Great game! The mechanic is simple but flexible, made for some challenging puzzles. The game matches the theme. The graphics are nice and more importantly, clear. I did find myself naturally selecting the red highlighted spaces, only to realise that I can click anywhere.

Overall, the game is well polished. Awesome job!

Unnecessary Evil by Eva Abollivier 2018-12-09T01:13:31Z

Great game! The puzzles benefited from the different character abilities. I liked how the pros and cons of each character were quite subtle. I had to play it a couple of times to realise that I could get through without sacrificing someone each level if I knew their strengths. Really clever.

Like some other people have mentioned, the controls really tripped me up. Especially the E, R and T keys being so close (I restarted a few times by accident), maybe a menu with the restart option would be help avoid that. I kept mixing up the space bar and jump button too.

Really fun game, good job!

Zombi'Escape by Jammin 2018-12-07T13:29:17Z

A cute game especially with the funny voice overs.

I found the movement very quick, so there's not much time to anticipate the obstacles. Because whatever passes the car is no longer important to the player, moving the car a bit lower could help. I'd also suggest making the obstacles stand out a little more. At the moment the obstacles are quite dark and are difficult to see against the colour of the road. Lightening the colour of road or the obstacles will help contrast them.

Trashore Island by Baktillus 2018-12-04T09:47:00Z

Graphics and music are great. I couldn't really tell what giving the items to the totems did, I assume some power ups. The idea was interesting and thematically came together (island, gods, totems, washed up junk etc.) Nice job!

Monarch`s Bully by kirroyal 2018-12-15T13:17:53Z

As some people have mentioned, the game would benefit from sound. Because people influence each other through talking, crowd sounds might work. I also agree that the mouse click was difficult to use.

I would have liked the game to be slower in terms of people changing colour and the walk speed. People were changing so quickly, I didn't have time to see what was happening and think about what the best move would be.

The current layout of the map is too open. It was difficult to isolate people especially as they were moving quickly. I ended up trying to hit the minorities with witnesses (that sounds terrible) because that was the easiest way for me to change people's colour. It could be helpful if the people had to navigate streets of varying sizes. You could hit someone if they walked in an alleyway, or there may be more open streets where it is more risky.

It would be interesting if people stopped to interact with each other. For example, people would stop and meet in different size groups and a little speech bubble could appear above them indicating they were having a discussion. The player could choose to break the conversation up or leave it as is. I think that the idea of people influencing each other through interaction is a really important aspect of the game.

The game's concept is very interesting and has a lot of potential. Loved the idea of people changing from witnessing an attack. If you do work on the game post-jam, I look forward to playing it! Great job.

Lumpy by kevin_g89 2018-12-04T09:32:11Z

The first time I landed in the lava it made me laugh! Quite a few glitches. When I got on Lumpy he would jump by himself and we'd explode, or we would launch into the sky and the game reset. Good concept though!

Connection by Luther-1 2018-12-04T10:07:26Z

This is a really interesting idea. I had fun trying to figure out the solution. As you mentioned, the next step is to make the instructions more readable.

The Pink Slip by shulololo 2018-12-08T12:29:27Z

An interesting concept with a lot of potential. The green text ending was a great way to add story and depth to a seemingly simple game. I think with more time, you'll be able to come up with ways to make those hints more subtle.

I loved the portraits and found some of the profiles pretty funny. I liked the big text one because I wasn't expecting a change in the form's format.

Great job.

Pick Your Poison by Vimlark 2018-12-06T09:51:00Z

The graphics look great! The idea was simple and worked well. I did find moving the character was a bit slippery which made dodging the bullets really challenging, so I would always sacrifice speed first. The game is very polished for 72 hours, really great work.

kizzme by efealacamli 2018-12-07T12:06:03Z

This has a really funny concept. The art, sound and gameplay really help get the humour across. It was challenging getting the faces to line up and the clumsiness is part of what makes the game funny.

I couldn't predict the way the faces would turn, so sometimes it was frustrating when it was so close but they slowly started turning away from each other. I think giving the players a bit of control (not too much) on rotating the character would make the game more enjoyable.

I would also suggest putting boundaries on the screen so players don't get lost off screen.

I had a lot of fun playing this, great job!
