I did it! Great take on the theme. A beautiful world and soundtrack. Very well done.

gamers-blood-entertainment 2019-10-08 00:24

Great idea, graphics, and ost. Very well done

episodeivy 2019-10-08 00:25

Great! Was expecting something level-based at first, but seeing the whole environment built up was very satisfying! Love that low-poly squirrel, too!

sirred 2019-10-08 00:29

Nice audio and very interesting way to start the game.

lekiy 2019-10-08 00:30

Wow what a cool concept! I found the whole idea very intriguing. I was a bit disappointed to find that as a squirrel I was unable to climb. To comment on the design, I feel that being able to fall to go to the top made it seem a little on the easy side as I was able to complete the game without thinking about how to actually get to the next piece.

mactinite 2019-10-08 00:31

Very interesting take on the theme. Graphics look good and audio was good

skyeward 2019-10-08 00:35

Amazing, genuinely, and such a brilliantly executed difficulty curve, ended just before I started to get lost in the environment I'd built up. Music was excellent too, great job seriously.

xenoxygene 2019-10-08 00:39

Thank you all so much for the feedback!! :D

sgalasso 2019-10-08 00:45

Very nice, I liked discover the environment growing, the sound is also nice and the playercontroller is well done ! Good job !

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 01:23

Like the low poly look and feel of it :thumbsup_tone1:

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

catusfelony 2019-10-08 02:00

Gorgeous game! Everything from the art style to the music and game mechanics mesh together so well! Absolute delight, great job, all of you!

((also kudos for having a linux build ;3)))

raitozan 2019-10-08 02:28

Thanks a lot everyone for all your reviews, it means a lot for us <3

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-08 07:33

Saw you on a stream earlier, and just had to try it out for myself. It's such a fun little game, and the low poly art style stands out so nicely. Awesome job!

amigopadilha 2019-10-08 12:30

Great game! Gameplay was smooth and the shaders for the appearing objects was on point! Music and art also great! Awesome job!

shad 2019-10-08 13:05

This is great!

One thing I think would make it much better would be some kind of indicator where are the teleport borders. I mean, sometimes going to the side lets you jump off a platform to land from top, but as a level expands you often are teleported to other side before you reach the edge to jump. This makes it requre a little bit of trial and error aproach.

Still, I love how softly and fluently the world is expanding with each upgrade, great job!

xenoxygene 2019-10-08 13:19

Yeah borders are fine in Unity game view, but don't show up in final build, we are working on a fix right now!

alazarius 2019-10-08 16:33

Great game ! I love the chill atmosphere with the music and all these graphics it's really cool. Good job !

bigwhiteshogun 2019-10-08 23:01

I usually don't like low poly games ( said pixel artist, I know, hypocrisy :P ) but this one, when I first saw it on stream surprised me a lot. Even though it is low poly it's also somehow visually stunning. The way stuff warps in to existence out of thin are is stunning. Impressive game over all for just 72 hours of dev time.

erebus 2019-10-08 23:21

Really nice job! Love the mechanics and the way the world expands. Music and art were great. Thanks for bringing it by the stream!

youngblade 2019-10-09 02:31

Absolutely beautiful! This game was such a joy to play. Excellent concept. Great artwork. Nice gameplay mechanics. I love how intuitively the opening explains the game to the player - it's something I could stand to do better in the future. Thank you so much for sharing this with us on stream last night. I'd hate to have missed it among all the other games - it's totally worth playing!

daniiln 2019-10-09 10:08

I really like the puzzle element when you go beyond the border of the screen and appear where you did not expect to appear)

bredera 2019-10-09 13:29

one of the best games I have played this LD, I like how the world grows around you, the graphics are simple but I just love low poly  Great work you guys!

whatnamegames 2019-10-09 13:46

This is awesome, really cool take on the theme and the squirrel is really cute.

xenoxygene 2019-10-09 13:47

Thank you all so much! We found out what was wrong with the first build and fixed it, the teleporting borders are now indicated properly!

crispypin 2019-10-09 14:37

Nice concept and awesome art! The web version started lagging after a while, but it was not too bad.

baturinsky 2019-10-09 14:45

Finlly a game that really use the theme in a meaningful way.

nikita-lozhkin 2019-10-09 14:51

Good job. Polish & Publish!

leonard-graf 2019-10-09 15:09

Kind of confusing at first but overall a pretty good game with a lot of charm.

rainetheglutton 2019-10-09 15:18

I really enjoyed the style and concept of this game. The world generation was really well done.

ghust1995 2019-10-09 15:20

Lovely game, the start of it is very nice and captures the theme in a super interesting way! I liked this as a different form of a maze game, and it made me enjoy playing a maze game (which is not something I thing I'd usually like) for a while. Good job!

rebecca-harrison 2019-10-09 16:22

Excellent in-game tutorial! Captured the theme perfectly :)

asturk 2019-10-09 20:04

I really loved the level design and the hole concept of this game! A very fun Jam indeed and the platform with exploration mechanics worked really great here!!! Awesome job, i enjoyed a lot!!

oneki 2019-10-10 07:34

Adding to the lots of comments here: great entry. Clever game design, loved the finishing touches on squirel's animation, the flowers under the feet, golden acorn at the end, dynamic soundtrack. The whole world really felt like coming out of nothing to something.

Would have added credits at the end :).

brainoid 2019-10-10 15:19

Great theme alignment, wonderful simplistic graphics. And I love the mushroom effect! Lovely detail! <3

imhanner 2019-10-10 20:28

Wow, this concept is great. I also like the music and graphics very much! :)

xarras 2019-10-10 21:01

I appreciate the graphics specially when it comes to everything getting built as you progress, also the ending is just beautiful. Also, nice music, goes along with the feel of the game. Everything is polished and works perfectly :)

akusan 2019-10-11 01:52

Pretty cool game you got there. That was a really cool take on the theme where you build the level from nothing as you go. The music seems a bit weird at times though, but it does create the right atmosphere. Nice low poly art, very magical. Great job !

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-11 15:22

A pretty strong 3D platformer with peculiar idea, I like how movement feels and the idea of the level. Well done.

ausstein 2019-10-11 18:43

Wow literally the only complaint I have is that it was so short. Which I cant blame you for since this was a game Jam. I want more!

I love the way you introduced the mechanics, it was very intuitive, also the movement felt incredibly polished. Also also you included an Indicator of where to go! I don't know how often I have commented under similar games that something like that makes a game a lot less tideous.

The graphics are incredibly clean and nice, which is extra impressive for such a short time and the audio was very good as well. I don't know what to say other than I hope you win this ludum dare! (I haven't seen all submissions of course but this one is the best by a landslide!) 5/5 on everything except humor, you should have opted out of that.

xenoxygene 2019-10-11 18:56

Thanks for the feedback everyone! We are considering expanding the game a bit after the ratings period! If you want the best experience, play the windows version (WebGL seems to freeze after a while)

@ausstein Thank you for such a nice comment! You literally pleased everyone on the team and it greatly boosts our morale as we want to pursue making games in the future. As for the humor, you're right, we discussed it and actually didn't if know we should remove it but humor wasn't what we aimed for when creating Faze. I removed it now ^^

raitozan 2019-10-11 18:57

thanks everyone for all you reviews, it means a lot for us, love you all

@ausstein thanks a lot for your review  and ty for the humor advice, I didn't know we could remove it from ratings

ausstein 2019-10-11 19:13

@xenoxygene Well it's 5/5 on everything now  I whish everyone on your team all the luck in the world for your game making careers, you really have the talent :)

simon-rahnasto 2019-10-11 20:29

I was told that I am the wr holder by the developers, so this is obviously a really well designed game! Was a lot of fun playing and its very cool that both the game visuals and the map evolves over time; great interpretation of the theme! Thank you for joining the stream

itsdanidre 2019-10-12 01:39

I really like ther idea for this, starting from nothing, and creating a world. The art is simplistic and nice, and the music was soothing...until...it began lagging (but still *playable*) when the world got bigger. Then, at the end when I collected the acorn...I got a black screen..and this:  Capture5.JPG

*****

In the end, I downloaded it and tried it over. The bare minimum lag was experienced this time, there were no music glitches either, and I got this! :sunglasses: Capture7.JPG

xenoxygene 2019-10-12 01:46

@itsdanidre Yeah the WebGL version glitches out a bit during later stages of the game and doesn't like when we tell it to quit application xD Thank you for downloading it to give it a proper go! And well played on getting the golden acorn!

mrpiedpiper 2019-10-12 04:32

This, was excellent. I've been meaning to check it out ever since I saw that it was a fellow squirrel game, and it definitely delivered. You guys did soooo well. The graphics, sound, gameplay, everything. In fact, after winning once, I mentioned how cool it was and started it over to show somebody what it was like. After they walked away, I ended up finishing up my second playthrough XP

Favorite points: * The screen wrap was incredibly well done. Combined with great level design, it really stood out to me. * Making everything pretty and alive was very gratifying, and well executed. * Possibly my favorite part, would be the way things were revealed. I believe its a shader? The way they just sort of... "phased" into existence, was so good, and made a great first impression

I did feel like the character momentum was off at one point, but I think I got it now. I also sort of wish I could have somehow peeked at the other side of the map before jumping off the screen. Not sure how you'd work with that, though. Maybe having it seamless from one side to the other? Like walking around the planet. Might confuse players though so

Anywho, amazing job.

And yes, I got the golden acorn. Twice XD

kaeveris 2019-10-12 08:29

This game is amazing, the controls are great. The atmosphere of the game is cool with soothing music and beautiful graphics. I like even little things like the clouds and how the grass was moving when you run by it

koukwst 2019-10-12 20:49

Very cool game! Great idea, you should create more levels! I loved the dissolve shader, when things appear and the music/sfx. very atmospheric!

felipegeovani 2019-10-13 03:26

Simple but charming, the beauty of when you complete the platforms, makes the game very beautiful, great work brother

pedroso 2019-10-13 03:50

Very well thinked concept, the level design and game atmosphere are on point. Beautiful game!

The WebGL version I think it has some kind of sound bug (the sound is distorting). Maybe it's just me, but it really messes up the experience. So I went on and downloaded it.

archimagus 2019-10-14 13:21

Just came across your game. I saved it to play later and I'll leave a better comment when I do. I just had to leave you a link to my last Global Game Jam game. [Squirrel Away](https://archimagus.itch.io/squirrel-away) as your's reminds me a lot of it.

xenoxygene 2019-10-14 13:22

Thank you all for the amazing feedback! @archimagus Gonna check it out ^^

purrseus 2019-10-14 14:00

Beautiful graphics, beautiful audio, super cozy atmosphere

The game feels quite fresh and the screen wrapping and expansion of the landscape are implemented in a really satisfying way. Seeing how everything comes alive and together is simply gorgeous :) Very fine entry :)

benjamin 2019-10-14 15:14

Great entry, everything good about the game has already been said, so I will focus on the only problem I noticed : the background elements should scroll slower than the foreground elements for a good parallax feeling.

chelog 2019-10-14 16:30

I love the cozy feel of the game and the cool idea of building the level with looping on the edges. Good one!

guckstift 2019-10-14 22:28

Found the repeatable world and incremental environment concepts are brilliant, the flat shaded low poly graphics just gorgeous, the animations cute and the sounds hilarious xD (so thats how a rushing squirrel sounds like) :3 Enjoyed it a lot!

The only drawback: The audio lags are brutal in the web version (didnt test the win version) Do you know why? Browser. Chromium 77

xenoxygene 2019-10-14 22:58

@benjamin It should already scroll at a different speed, but if you found it weird, it must mean something is off with it, we are going to look into that! ^^

@guckstift Thank you for your review :D We do not know what causes the lag in the web version but it might have to do with some poor optimization on our side, we are going to tweak some things and update the WebGL version. In the meantime, Windows version doesn't have any issue!

rebtf 2019-10-15 06:19

A lovely take on the start with no mechanics genre. The visuals were lovely, the world grew at a steady, interesting pace. Brilliantly crafted game.

alexzen 2019-10-15 06:56

@pedroso @guckstift audio designer here. The problem with lag and distorsion is caused by WebGL running on a single thread compared to desktop versions. That means that if the game performs poor, the audio will also suffer. A solution to audio distortion and stuttering is increasing the buffer size of the audio system, but that will also increase latency. I didn't really optimize for WebGL, so yeah, audio on the desktop version should be fine!

hurley 2019-10-15 09:54

Hi everyone ! I also wanted to say thanks to everyone for enjoying our game ^^ We're very glad the concept and its execution resonated with so many people !!

prodigalson 2019-10-15 13:29

Very cool and I can honestly say one of the most unique ideas I have played thus far in this jam and a wonderful implementation of the theme. I was so impressed that I gave ya'll 5 stars for innovation and theme. (usually I don't share my scores on the comments but I really enjoyed this). There will always be bugs and people have already pointed those out so I don't need to but I do encourage ya'll to continue to work on this and polish it and release it as a finished product. Nicely done!

chtimy 2019-10-21 21:17

Really good game. I have enjoyed it! The idea to use the border of the screen like a teleport is a simple and very efficient gameplay! And the little added details each time we get the target is cool! The jump of the squirrel is a little bit too heavy and maybe it's better to use gravity acceleration when the squirrel is jumping?

acronaut 2019-10-23 20:22

Lovely use of the Wraparound. Nice touch on zoomed-out overview of the level.. It was Nuts! :chestnut: A Good 'Side-Squirroller'. Good execution of the theme, progressive build-up of the layers.

Suggestion: - Character Unlockables or Random Chosen Player Character: e.g - Squirrel, Chipmunk, Flying Squirrel, Marmot, etc..) - Potential for local-multiplayer: - "Keep-away"; Squirrels playing domination of the possession of the acorns towards their seed-bunker.

Look forward towards further expansion of the levels and wraparound sorcery! :dizzy:

humphreysmedia 2019-10-25 13:40

Great idea using the game walls to navigate round the map, such a great twist on the gameplay. Loved the artwork, it was consistant throughout and audio suited the game very well, the arrow definitely helped with navigating around the world so that was a nice little touch! Great job!

envy-softworks 2019-10-26 17:51

Thank you for your nuts.

suchista 2019-10-26 19:22

Nice! That was a meditative experience in some way :) The art is beautiful and the act of worldmaking is fun and calming. The idea is simple but well executed, initial puzzle with going around the screen felt great. Good job everyone!

mharring 2019-10-27 19:48

I really like the mechanics of this one. Wasn't particularly challenging, but was fun to run to the edges of the map to come back on the other side and I appreciated the arrow showing you which direction to go in. The atmosphere was very well done with beautiful graphics and sound. I experienced increasing lag on the WebGL version as I progressed but that's not too surprising given how detailed the 3D visuals are in a browser. Great job!

stinkykitty 2019-10-29 18:11

Heard about another squirrel game! Beautiful game! It perfectly matches the theme, great music, super cute squirrel! Awesome job!
