LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

The presentation is great! Especially love the smooth camera movements.

As it is my field of expertise, I will just comment on the audio side of things: although the music is a bit midi-sounding, it manages to give a perfect creepy and mysterious vibe to the game. Love that!

The sound effects are not very well mixed. They are too loud compared to the music. The mud-placing sound effect has a lot of low bass to it. For an action you take a lot of times in the game this can be a bit irritating. There is also a noticable click after every mud-placing sound effect. Make sure your samples are fading out at the end. In general the sacrifice scene is also a bit too loud compared to the initial scene.

If you want to learn more about game audio, read this article: http://www.stephenschappler.com/2013/07/26/listening-for-loudness-in-video-games/

It might be overkill to think about it for such a short jam, but could be useful to you in future projects.

LD45 — Start with nothing

@pedroso @guckstift audio designer here. The problem with lag and distorsion is caused by WebGL running on a single thread compared to desktop versions. That means that if the game performs poor, the audio will also suffer. A solution to audio distortion and stuttering is increasing the buffer size of the audio system, but that will also increase latency. I didn't really optimize for WebGL, so yeah, audio on the desktop version should be fine!
