I really enjoyed the concept of changing your character based on how you died, innovative. Additional obstacles in the level to avoid or longer maps would make the game more challenging and replayable.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD47 → Karmic Circle

This is an awesome idea! Well done
I managed to beat it in a few minutes, but really had to think about the map and what was going to happen. I think dieing in a speciffic way affected the way you're reborn? Really nice idea

A neat idea with a solid execution! With a little more polish this could become a great puzzle game.
Interesting mechanics, and fits the theme quite nicely. Would like to see this idea expanded on.
The cycle of life gimmick fit the theme well, but there wasn't much substance to the game. Play until you die and play again as the next thing. If you had some level of control about the order of animals you reincarnate as, I could see this being an interesting puzzle game. There were also a few bugs where it would change tabs on me after completing a level.
While this isn't very technically good, I have to say I loved it. It's just so weird, the music, controls, the graphics, the messages coming through browser dialogues, it's unlike anything I've ever played before, so good job on making me smile. One basic tip: make sure that the game can distinguish between pressing a button once and holding it down.
Interesting game concept, would be nice to chose the player by yourself and change it whenever you want while playing a specific map.. that would lead to nice animal combos during the gameplay  But overall nice! Like it
Really cool - I like the concept! Makes for a really good puzzle system. Love the quirkyness of the art too - great job!
Very simple, but nice puzzles!
I like that you can determine your next avatar by how you die. Great Compo entry. With more time spent expanding on this idea, it could become a really unique puzzle game.
The concept is really cool! I think if you made more, or even better, longer levels, maybe improve the audio and visuals, this could become something incredible. Nice work!
I had so much fun playing that I had to play this twice. The mechanic of being reborn is interesting and I think you barely scratched the surface of what you can do with it. I wonder how you built the levels. Everything was super blocky, and I suspect you did not use a map editor like https://www.mapeditor.org/ or https://deepnight.net/tools/led-2d-level-editor/ and I don't know if that's on purpose. With a map editor - you can probably create many more maps to play much with much more ease and speed. This game was a bit buggy and very ugly, but super charming and fun. Thank you for the game!
Not that bad! I had fun just thinking about how to beat the level from the start, where to die, how to get places, and so on. Reminded me of Little Nemo for the NES.
@ubershmekel Thank you! The levels are actually plain text files that are parsed and then rendered in the game. You can see them here: https://github.com/aneeshdurg/karmic-circle/tree/main/level (https://github.com/aneeshdurg/karmic-circle/blob/main/script.js#L48 this might help explain what each character represents)
I wanted to add some more visual flair but ran out of time towards the end. I didn't have internet access during most of this jam, so it was all about trying to get the most mileage I could with the tools I had.
Fun concept, nice little game
Very neat concept! A shame it's so short, you could make quite some game from this idea. Plus the obviously required polish that can't be done in 48h :)
A very nice concept! You could build a great puzzle game with this idea, you just need a bit more meaningful choice every now and then.
By the way, this didn't work at all in firefox for me (just a white screen), so I had to break out my emergency chromium install for it.
Interesting little game, got a good amount of charm to it! The puzzle mechanics are unique, and at least I haven't seen anything quite like it before, so good job on that!
