Great juice (explosions, trails, menu animations)! Everything was explained well and worked as expected. A bit simple mechanically; maybe the plant can grow while not carried? Overall, nice work!

benji-kershenbaum 2020-04-23 15:56

Love the simple graphics and great audio. A bit easy, but overall really nice!

unx 2020-04-23 16:25

I liked the simplicity of your game very much and it fit the theme quite well. It would be nice if it was becoming more difficult as time went by

gammaflight 2020-04-24 18:35

The graphics, audio, and concept of the game are fantastic. Initially, I thought it was really hard, but I just figured out you can carry the plant around 😃.

Brilliant game.

god-colo 2020-04-24 18:38

Ahhh pixel art! I love how simple your game is! The control felt smooth! Greato Jobu!

brachistosauro 2020-04-24 18:54

Feels really polished and smooth, congratulations for the art and sounds! I initially alternated between carrying water or the plant, but quickly found that I'd just be more convenient to always hold onto the plant; I think that it'd be more fun if the player was more incentivized to frequently switch between objects. Overall really good for something made in 24h, great job!

Thank you so much for the feedback, it's truly heart-warming <3 ! I'm thinking about a feature where when we put the plant down, the plant will grow (bonus) so the player is forced to not always carry the plant.

PS: I didn't think these simple minimalist graphics could be that much enjoyed x) I did all my best to juice it as much as I could and it seems quite effective! Juice is important!

rexagon 2020-04-24 21:59

Stylish and polished, really enjoyed playing it. Good job!

prackli 2020-04-27 15:08

Nice and really responsive game, It felt simple and got bored after few minutes, but it's really good.

euforia-games 2020-04-27 15:22

I scored 180 with my brother! The game is awesome! The most awesome part is you can actually play coop mode! Thats great!!!!

hcursino 2020-04-27 15:56

Great game. Usually I am not found of games where you just need to see how long you can survive, but out of my personal bias you did a really great job. The mood is nice, the graphics and environment matches, the sound design and music are perfectly polished. Well done!

zerohbeat 2020-04-27 16:36

Score 504, I kept it alive for 814 seconds and watered the plant 284 times, killing 110 enemies. (I carried the plant all the time but dropped it by mistake :( hehe )

Great game, everything fits really well together and its really polished! Really satisfying to kill the enemies by guiding them into the water. When it happened the first time, I was shocked and tried to replicate it by guiding them in water again.

It was really interesting when I had to make split second decisions about the water. Few times I really had to think if I want the water for myself or to guide the enemies there.

It would have been cool if something happened over time (after I got 200+ score it felt empty ish…) Maybe at 100 score a new slower enemy appears. Slowly the player speed increases. Stuff like that…. The first few times, I died really early as the water was not spawning or the spawn location was just out of screen / not visible…. Also the enemies were sometimes spawning really close to me (maybe it would be OK if they stayed frozen for 2/3 seconds before moving).

Really cool game! Bonus points for making it co op :D

le-don 2020-04-28 12:03

I love the soundtrack of this game, but maybe it could loop better, as the track just ends and restarts. I also like all the small effects, But gameplay-wise I didn't understand how you kill enemies and there doesn't seem to be much going on besides staying alive (which of course is perfect for the theme :)).

monblu 2020-04-28 12:50

@rexagon Thank you dude!

@prackli Yep I totally understand with the boredom, the game feels not finished but it's a good start i guess, Thank you for the feedback!

@euforia-games 180! That's huge! Well done, glad you had fun playing the game :D, that's so cool that the coop mode is being played too!

@hcursino I agree that the game could have an end or some little objectives, i should be considering that. Thank you for the feedback!

@zerohbeat DAMN!! 504, that's a mega huge score we have here! Thank you so much for playing and the feedback, it helps a lot! Indeed having some little objectives could be really interesting too.

@le-don Thank you for the feedback! I'm totally aware that the game is a bit too simple, i will try to work on that! (btw to kill enemies you have to make them touch water, by any means (grab water or entice them toward water))

whydoidoit 2020-04-28 13:09

Sadly the Mac version didn't run for me.... Said unable to find game

monblu 2020-04-28 13:25

@whydoidoit Hey to deal with this problem you have to drag the file out of your downloads (on the dektop for example) then open it with a right click and "open". Hope it'll work, enjoy your playing!

zachary-shah 2020-04-28 14:22

I say this fully unjokingly, can I get access to the menu soundtrack? So peaceful. The gameplay is really calming and it was satisfying to lure the enemies to the water to watch them explode. I did not understand the point of the (tutorial?) menu where you had to press B to start. I feel like that could be dealt with in tutorial menu rather than a whole empty level. Regardless, the art style was really pretty and everything felt so smooth. If you were to expand on the game, I would add an indicator as to where water is, and make it so you HAVE to place don the plant on the water to keep it alive, to up the difficulty. Anyway, the soundtrack was perfect and the visuals and gameplay as well!

monblu 2020-04-28 16:29

@zachary-shah damn bro thank you so much for the feedback! Fun fact: i did the soundtrack around 1:00 am (the game jam ended at 3:00 am in my country) i did it in a rush and there is some miss here and there in the music but i'm so glad you enjoyed it that much! You can get access to the soundtracks for sure xD right there: https://soundcloud.com/user-806531614 It's the two last tracks. btw if you're interested in any kind of collaboration i can help with the music xD !

empty-set 2020-04-29 04:55

I didn't have someone to play co-op with, so I can only comment on the single-player.

Everything works smoothly, but it does get dull quite quickly once you figure out the way the elements are balanced. There's no reason not to hold the plant at all times, and there's little incentive to kill enemies - killing them wastes precious water, they respawn almost immediately, there are never more than two of them, and you can outrun them. While you DO get more points by killing them, since the game is easy and unchanging enough to be played indefinitely with little risk, there's no incentive to rack up a high score.

The text boxes and effects like the enemy trails looked snazzy, the music is good, and the minimalist objects didn't look bad, though almost everything being a square was a little bit boring considering the underlying game was on the simple side too. Other than not being particularly exciting there aren't any glaring flaws, though, so nice work especially considering you said you only did this in one day.

blue-pin-studio 2020-04-29 07:58

Not bad at all! I had fun playing :) The game is VERRRRY white, so reading the text boxes was hard because they are white font as well. Did you know you can actually get score before you finish reading all the signs and before enemies appear? :)

magnanix 2020-04-29 11:21

I liked it, the minimalist graphics combined with the reactive elements (particles, shake, sound, etc.) makes this a really clean entry :).

It did get a bit samey after about 100 score. I had to start inventing my own rules to keep it interesting: Only allowed to kill the enemies if it is a double kill (1 water vs. 2 enemies), that made it a little more fun, but there was no end state to attempt to achieve :).

Nicely done!

monblu 2020-04-29 17:09

@empty-set thank you for the feedback! it means a lot.

@blue-pin-studio Thank you, i haven't even thought about the colour of the text and the background, nice that you'd point that out!

@magnanix The game is too boring after a few minutes, i'll definitely work on that! thank you for the feedback!

fancypants 2020-04-29 18:14

The game feels and looks great. It's a well-polished minimalist experience.

There's not much challenge in the gameplay, since you can always outrun the enemies(maybe make them faster, but give them some inertia, so that they need to be avoided using sudden turns, or just add more of them?). I also had no reason to ever put down the plant.

monblu 2020-04-30 09:27

@fancypants Inertia! Awesome idea! thank you so much for the feedback!

zebraatomica 2020-05-04 14:01

Can't tell much here. It's a solid entry, fun, polished, with nice graphics and a good game overall. Improvements that I would think about, slowing player acceleration speed, enemies shoot, and reaching 111 points without my plant growing was trully dissapointing çnç, if there where just 2 more sprites for the tree i think the "being to easy" would be more easily forgotten. But for the really well done minimalism... I couldn't read the tutorial properly without trying to merge with my screen XD It could be only for me but it's a thing to think about accessibility.

monblu 2020-05-05 15:36

@zebraatomica Thank you so much for reviewing my game! I'm going to improve the game with all the feedback i've got, and the growth of the plant is definitely a must! Have a nice day bud!
