LD39 — Running out of Power

Ultimate Hacker by Predominant 2017-08-01T00:00:13Z

Nice entry! I liked the game overall, the terminal felt nice to use overall, the controlls felt a bit sensitive though.

Be Queen Bee by LucasMolina 2017-08-01T01:15:30Z

Really nice aesthetic! The local multiplayer aspect also sets this entry apart. Great job!

I'm an (nuclear) engineer! by zgragselus 2017-08-01T00:47:25Z

Simple premise, but I really enjoyed causing a nuclear disaster! Nice entry!

Plugging Away by AfroAnt 2017-08-01T02:41:26Z

I was watching the stream as you guys were working on it, and definitely loved the concept from the moment I saw it!

Music fits well, graphically appealing, and the plugging management is a great design element! Really great job guys!

Running out of Power by milano23 2017-07-31T23:48:10Z

I liked the game overall, like I could see myself playing it as a mobile time killer, for sure. The controls could have been a little more responsive, but that's really my only gripe. Good job!

POWERCUT, Inc. by zoglu 2017-07-31T23:03:48Z

Really cool entry! I'm a sucker for management games, but even so, graphics, sound, and mechanics were all on point and consistent with the theme.

Plug Busters by MattDahEpic 2017-08-01T00:11:27Z

Graphically pleasing, the UI elements are a little pixelated, but nothing too jarring. An enjoyable game given the theme and time crunch!

DraBot by gil4 2017-08-01T16:59:42Z

Game looks and plays great, but have to agree with the other commenters, it is super hard! Great entry though!

Zombies and RVs by pixelgriffin 2017-08-01T17:05:23Z

The art style and fast paced gameplay really bring this together as a memorable entry. Really great job and impressively polished!

Charge Infinitum by HacksawUnit 2017-08-01T03:37:30Z

I love how unassuming the game is at first, then the subtleties and humor amp the game up to memorable among all the other submissions I've seen today!

The Earthbound/Undertale vibe is great and the game overall is just fantastic!

TowerClicker by SenileLines 2017-08-01T00:39:49Z

Just lacking a bit more depth of gameplay and UI, but otherwise a fun game!

BATTERY BLASTER by NoytroO 2017-08-01T01:50:54Z

Aside from WASD not working for me for some reason (I crab walked, which might have improved the experience), it had an almost DOOM meets Duke Nukem vibe, which was awesome!

I liked the graphics and the audio played well to the vibe I mentioned. Good job overall!

PLUG ME ! by Ramou 2017-07-31T22:55:48Z

You drew my in with the game art. Cool concept on the finite runner motif (I assume it's finite, I totally didn't make it to the phone, so don't know if it exists or not). Enjoyable entry though overall!

Let's Get Political! by Charles Sun 2017-08-01T01:45:30Z

I see we had a similar interpretation of the theme! Good entry, but like zgragselus said, an endgame goal would be nice, but we did only have 72 hours, so that's an understandable thing to leave out.

Overall the game looks and plays nicely.

Escape the Room by JesperSB 2017-07-31T23:26:39Z

To summarize my experience with the game: turn on shower, see destroyed battery, look in mirror having not looked at screenshots, "life's just not worth living, is it?" Beyond that, the controls felt a little awkward, but nothing unmanageable.

Defender of the Energy! by BesSlaaneshi 2017-08-01T17:02:20Z

Love the art style and simplicity of the game. The music and quick gameplay bring everything together and the only thing that's lacking is enemy variety, but that's not even a fair complaint given the time constraint! Great entry overall!

Be The President by MrSerp 2017-07-31T23:42:27Z

The gradual power loss is a game mechanic, you gain power by "twooting" (the black almost cell phone on the right), interacting with documents to make decisions, and by having phone calls.

As far as the months go, I could definitely bump up the timescale, it was just brought down to fit the amount of content I was able to add.

Thanks for the feedback!

Be The President by MrSerp 2017-08-01T16:52:59Z

Tweets should do something, the actual impact is pretty low, so you have to compensate by volume (there are a few secret key words that give bonus points and I'm pretty sure covfefe was one of those). If I had more time, I would have definitely added more key words to the backend and changed the scoring system.

Thanks for the feedback though! Glad you got a few laughs!

Be The President by MrSerp 2017-08-01T16:53:04Z

(accidentally double posted)

Be The President by MrSerp 2017-08-02T02:39:14Z

I didn't have time to implement the BNN app, it was going to react to your decisions though, same with twoots.

I had also planned for a Rabbit News app and for phone numbers to work, maybe with continued development all of those can be implemented!

Be The President by MrSerp 2017-08-02T17:56:24Z

I'd never heard of Yarn Spinner, but it looks like a node based version of my phone conversation backend, this will definitely help with writing dialogs in the future, thanks for the suggestion!

Let's go to the mall by Quixx 2017-07-31T23:38:22Z

I like the pairing of endless runner with the mall setting. The chairs definitely added a nice extra mechanic to adapt to.

Sleepy Orphan Simulator by Barney Cumming 2017-07-31T23:15:12Z

Couldn't figure out how to get the hotdog in my mouth, but the audio and graphics alone make this a stand out entry.

Almost Home by willvasco 2017-08-01T01:27:28Z

Loved every aspect of this game (I'm a sucker for space games)! Really nice aesthetic, lighting, graphics, and the music set the mood nicely. Great entry!

BoilerMan by Wekaj 2018-08-14T02:34:15Z

Art style and mood are great, I'll admit, I was drawn in by the Spirited Away inspiration. It is a bit confusing at first, but this entry definitely has a lot of merits going for it overall!

All The Things! by Snowdrama 2018-08-14T02:29:54Z

I loved the art style and the screen transitions were a very nice touch! Tetris meets interior decorating is definitely a great fit for the theme.

Rampart by Jeremy Ryan 2018-08-14T01:17:55Z

Great art style and music, very different aesthetic to other entries I've seen and I love it!

Champion Chowdown by Burgee 2018-08-14T02:44:26Z

Great art and I love the premise -- who wouldn't want to be *the* Slime King? And, of course, you need a kingdom to wobble over!

The Kessler Problem by catbutt 2018-08-14T02:56:09Z

Great work! As a physicist myself, I'm glad someone implemented something like this to fit the theme!

Shopping Simulator 2018 Mega-Deluxe Edition by MrSerp 2018-08-14T02:22:30Z

@jan Yeah, I kind of just gave up on fixing the cart physics at some point and just embraced them! I planned on adding more items, scalable difficulty, and ai shoppers that would steal items from you, but I ran out of time because I couldn't work on the game today 😞

Shopping Simulator 2018 Mega-Deluxe Edition by MrSerp 2018-08-14T02:24:21Z

@moo Same as the above comment, I just embraced the cart the way it was at some point, but the controls were definitely something I wished I could have fixed today! I had every intention of remapping them from what I had set for testing. The back quote or tilde key unlocks the camera though to be able to interact with the ui.

Clean up Championship by ckyre 2018-08-14T02:53:04Z

The music's pretty good, my first impression was that the character design has a like Mr.Bill claymation vibe, which I love! Very competent entry overall!

Tale of the Bagger: A Love Story by trozen 2018-08-14T03:38:46Z

Love your take on marrying the theme with a supermarket (my entry was also a supermarket game!) great game! Well polished, depth of content is great for a jam entry. Overall, very impressive!

The Unfortunate Story of Hans by Bloc97 2018-08-14T01:05:41Z

Great entry! Really impressed by the simple but effective art style and the narrative is pretty good! Theme was definitely met by all aboard the SP4-C3, and the sound effects that are there were nicely satisfying.

I would have liked to hear maybe some ambient background sound or music, but given the constraints of the jam, that's totally a fine oversight in the wake of the final product.

Dogs on the Bed by Sharky3188 2018-08-14T01:26:11Z

I like the premise and it's a super competent entry, for sure, but where are all of the dogs coming from? That's what I really want to know! Material for a sequel, perhaps?

Ink Flood by Ice Maker 2018-08-14T02:48:18Z

Agree with the praise given so far, but that soundtrack though, good job on the sound design with that!

Storage Almost Full by Sthor726 2018-08-14T01:57:02Z

Love how clean the graphics are and the sound effects are very satisfying! Great entry overall!
