LD39 — Running out of Power

Cryozia by Flipsy 2017-08-01T01:22:55Z

A neat concept and it executes on the theme well. If you return to the spaceship prior to getting all the yellow spikes, the game just ends. I feel like if you run out of power and drift into a power cell you should be able to continue, rather than just restarting the level the moment you run out of power. Sound is minimal but well done, controls are solid.

Plug Busters by MattDahEpic 2017-08-01T03:37:40Z

For @mateusmp and future players, that bug was fixed but cloudflare didn't like serving up to date content.

arena.sim by Rionisse 2017-07-31T23:15:43Z

While I'm not very good at this one, I can definitely see influence from the theme and I love the sumo wrestling if-you-leave-the-map-you-die mechanic. The AI responds nicely to the player and makes for an interesting challenge when combined with the cover based shooting and occasional wallhack powerup.

Ready, HANDHELD! by emanvidmaker 2017-08-01T01:11:37Z

You have to hold down the jump button for about a second before you actually jump and you can land and jump off of the sides of pipes but other than that the sound is good, the art looks cool, and the idea relative to the theme is done very well!

If you play in fullscreen there's no way to exit the game outside of ALT+F4.

Little Light by Qu4k 2017-08-01T03:01:10Z

Interesting idea, well executed. The level design is good, but with no explanation of the double jump it took experimenting with the controls to figure it out. Sound is good. Overall, well done with the time limit!

Energy Tanks by Saiony 2017-08-01T03:11:35Z

Well done. The music is great and the art looks wonderful. Starting out, the controls feel a bit off, but you get somewhat used to it. The tank doesn't shoot exactly towards your mouse, enough that from far away bullets won't hit with your mouse on the target. While I can see and feel the theme, it feels more like a timer than a power meter since the pickups given when having killed an enemy don't usually replenish the energy used to fight that enemy (in my experience, I'm bad at games so take that with a tank of salt) The menu is beautiful. Overall, a nice product for the time it was made in.

Very Fast Robot Rolling at High Speed by binary_coder 2017-07-31T23:30:09Z

The premise is good, in some places the battery runs longer than the distance to get away from a charger so you have to sit there for ~5 seconds and let your battery die before you enter a turret's range. The level design for some levels is great while others leave you rolling for a long time when you start the level, leading to luls when you reset and have to wait before you can start playing again. Barring that, the idea is wonderful, the implementation is great, and the art looks good!

Having to install the game rather than it just being a runnable executable is a bit of a hastle though.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Save Christmas by oskardevelopment 2017-12-06T19:00:38Z

Interesting concept and well executed, but a few issues. Some of my clicks seem to be getting lost, the situation popup resolution buttons are too far away from the play field, and you cant view all the countries without zooming out (and thus only using 1/4 of the screen. Otherwise well polished and interesting engine choice.

Snake Charmer by fakeyou 2017-12-05T04:15:09Z

Well polished, but the death sound effect is quite jarring compared to the silence.

Too Many Bears by Rajin 2017-12-05T04:10:21Z

Incredibly polished and well done. Could be a whole game if you had a tutorial level of some sort.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Auto Parker by BathPirate 2022-10-03T23:24:11Z

This is a super interesting puzzle game! I wish it didn't fully kick you out after 3 failures but I can see how the level could break with enough uninterrupted tries. Not a theme-compliant game but that's okay!

Graveyard Shift by MattDahEpic 2022-10-03T23:09:30Z

@martenscedric Oops, should be resolved now!

1000 Meters to Shade by PBG 2022-10-03T22:40:36Z

Always fun to see a pico8 game in LD! I very much enjoyed this one. The music is good at letting you know when a flare is incoming by "feel" and I started to get into the flow quickly.

Death by 10 seconds by iCalm 2022-10-21T18:18:27Z

Super interesting! I ended up playing the cower underground strategy. The pack appears to work well and is a very novel idea, though it's likely too late now, I would highly recommend specifying it's for Java and 1.19.X and adding a quick tutorial on how to install data packs being added to the description (especially with it being a full button in the create world screen now.

I appreciate the infinite saturation and I learned about the schedule function command by looking in the pack source. I love that we don't have to use dummy scoreboard values counting up to time things anymore. I can see there was a treasure/reward system commented out in the code, that would be a very welcome addition if you choose to flesh this out further!

BDSM by xsangyhix 2022-10-04T00:14:42Z

Funny title but I can't figure out what to do in the game, the buttons make sounds but don't do anything discernible and I don't know what the requests are asking me to do.

Baby Loader by c4ris 2022-10-03T22:35:40Z

A fun little game! There's a bit of emergent complexity in the box throwing. The baby occasionally gets stuck inside a box when it turns immovable.

minigames! by thyoi 2022-10-06T03:10:57Z

A super cute little warioware-like. I absolutely love line-boil art and you've nailed it here. I really enjoyed all of the games, though none of the games seem to have a consequence for failure. The intro mentions a slower mode yet doesn't say how to activate it and I would have loved to have some more time to admire the art. Otherwise a very good game for the time you had, and it has a lot of potential as a cute little game I could see giving to a kid on the Switch or their phone.

Hidden Moves by barce 2022-10-03T22:51:48Z

Wow! This is a super polished end product for 72 hours, congrats! Art is good and the systems are clean. My only critiques are that it isn't super clear how the students "see" you (it doesn't seem to relate to if they're facing you), that the principal's movement randomly slows sometimes (it doesn't seem to be related to walking through groups of students), and that the dancing prompts seem to become desynchronized from the beat dropping towards the end of prom. Props nonetheless and good work, you've got a solid team here.
