I acted as a consultant on this game. @icalm (11yrs) built most of the datapack.
It was a blast working with you @icalm!

really fun minecraft datapack, very different then the other submissions. I like it
Man i did not expect a Minecraft data pack, you are a genius HAHA
Please comment how far you got!😸
never seen this in a ludum dare pretty fun good job
Super original to go with a datapack entry! I like that the mob drops actually serve as progression, rather than having to go get loot on your own. I got up to the cave spider level, they got me killed pretty quick.
Not what I was expecting from ldj but was very pleasantly suprised. Nice work!
Nothing at all what I expected from a game jam, but surprising!
NGL, I technically got level 30, but only by the technicality that it's minecraft, and I just dug a hole underground and put some torches. Hid under there until the entire map was infinitely firebombed by dragons and withers.
You've just brought minecraft back into my life. Thank you.
@icalm tried on 1.12, 1.14, 1.16 but mobs are not spawning. difficulty also normal. What i am doing wrong?
Those versions are too old. It's only supported for 1.19 and above. Sorry!
Very unique ludum dare entry. Good job!
I was trying to search for Minecraft on Steam but... SearchingForMinecraftOnSteam.png
UPDATE:
Will it work with this one? I'm considering to buy it just to be able to play and rate your game! ;-) WillItWorkWithThisMinecraft.png
@paveldlouhy That is correct, the Java edition is what this datapack supports. Thanks for considering giving it a go!
Was not expecting to have to boot up Minecraft for LDJAM, so I'm pleasantly surprised! Unique work, and fun!
Super interesting! I ended up playing the cower underground strategy. The pack appears to work well and is a very novel idea, though it's likely too late now, I would highly recommend specifying it's for Java and 1.19.X and adding a quick tutorial on how to install data packs being added to the description (especially with it being a full button in the create world screen now.
I appreciate the infinite saturation and I learned about the schedule function command by looking in the pack source. I love that we don't have to use dummy scoreboard values counting up to time things anymore. I can see there was a treasure/reward system commented out in the code, that would be a very welcome addition if you choose to flesh this out further!
Love seeing a minecraft datapack as an entry!
I too discovered that cowering underground is the best strategy. Looks like mobs still can't spawn in light levels at torch level, which works if digging underground isn't an option. Could stone be made unmineable? Common terrain blocks could also be made not to drop resources, so the only source of anything would be the mobs themselves.
That might make it more of a risk to gather enough blocks to build defenses. It would also be interesting if torches were very very rare or maybe were dimmer than usual? They seem to be the most valuable resource of anything.
Having bosses or something you need to defeat to continue would also discourage cowering.
I'm not sure the limitations of minecraft datapacks of course so I'm not sure if all these things would be possible.
Great entry : )
Since the mobs were spawnd maualy, the torches wont be changed. We actualy have bosses levels 10 20 and 30. I can make it as a better way to entice peole out. I'm also will try changing some normal block drops. Those were great ideas @terracottafrog and totaly posible!
Thanks all of you for these amazing ideas and even for trying my game!
