LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Micro Trooper by Split82 2017-12-05T22:42:15Z

Very nicely put together! As others have said the small polish touches go a long way. Would love to see more variety in some combination of the enemies, player abilities, and environment, just to keep things a bit more from feeling a bit same-ey, but what's there now is definitely great (with great improvements in the post-compo version)!

Wow the visuals and feel are on point! As someone who's attempted a 2D deadspace-like game in the past (with little success to show for it) color me impressed with the ability to convey such an intense emotional register with such limited time/resources! Would love to see more in the future!

Be Yourself by Noa Calice 2017-12-05T04:41:19Z

Cool concept for sure-- I adore all the expressions and the gameplay itself is surprisingly engaging! Sound/Music is a little weird yet in a very appropriate sort of way. All around a very solid entry!

Solid concept, beautifully executed, super satisfying, +1 from me! Love the background sounds and the simplicity of gameplay/visuals.

Rocket Boom by Filipe Leal 2017-12-05T04:08:58Z

Very fun concept-- a little graphics/audio polish could definitely go a long way, but I could totally see this doing great on anything with a touch screen since it's so simple yet engaging. Could also do a lot with different environments and effects and whatnot. Throw in some meteors and black holes and you got yourself a solid space theme-- or do whatever since the gameplay is so versatile.

Catamari by Kieran Newland 2017-12-05T16:45:28Z

Never before have I been so frustrated at not being able to forcibly make a cat eat a sausage. Beautiful job with the art and cat bouncing effect! Music did get a little repetitive and on resetting it started playing on top of itself while the controls stopped working, but all around a delightfully cute entry!

POKED - be social by Faktori 2017-12-05T04:26:07Z

Oh man so simple yet awesomely overwhelming! Love the art and little UI sounds especially! Overall fantastic-- could see this working on mobile or something with more story and such. Keep up the great work!

Too Many Bears by Rajin 2017-12-05T16:17:38Z

Thanks everyone for the high praise! I was very limited by time in my ability to get everything working and looking good, so the actual level ended up being the last thing made (in the last hour of the jam), so I definitely agree on needing some sort of introduction and elaboration of the main mechanics.

Also for those that are interested, the pixelization plugin for Unity (the only thing I had going into the jam, made earlier last week) is still a WIP but I'll be releasing it here at least once it doesn't have glaring issues.

So good. Simple designs compounding on top of each other is genius and the cohesiveness of the whole thing is astounding! Sound design is incredible and the overall polish of such a deceptively simple idea is just fantastic. Definitely saving this one for reference later-- kudos to you!

Neon Hell by SirPumpyJam 2017-12-05T03:59:49Z

Adore the graphics-- reflections, screen effects on damage-- everything is so beautiful! I'll definitely be saving this for my own future reference! As others have said the controls take a bit of getting used to but once you get to that point it's super cool trying to maneuver around enemies.
