Hey man, thanks for your tutorials on Youtube and especially thanks to you to let people know that this event was going to start soon! Without your Youtube video notification regarding your livestream I would've not heard of this and not participated :)
Enjoyed your game btw, you are a very skilled artist!
Really liked your game but I couldn't get the first level with the timer. I am really quick but it's just not possible to do it in time :(
Thanks for the game! I really like the music and the game was quite challenging but here some suggestions on how you could improve on it:
- Highscore! Maybe even a Highscore table (I died and I didn't even get to look at my score :( ) - Feedback when you get hit (I think it also lacks a sound effect?) - Different enemy behavior
And a HTML5 version (this was made with unity, right?) would've been great as people tend to have issues in downloading a "random" executable from the net :)
Oh most of the things I complained about are in my shoot-em-up too and especially in the compo version :D
Played and rated :) The jumps are really unforgiving man! Also is it me or are some jumps not registered? But thanks for the small file size and the nice tune in the background :)
@cerno-b Thanks for the indepth review! Really appreciate it :) I did exactly that on the day after the compo entered and created a JAM entry https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/neon-hell
Would love to hear your feedback for that version! Appreciate it man :)
@xk-the-name Thanks for the feedback man, I really appreciate it! I saw the same shortcomings, this is why I added 6 hrs more development on monday to the game and also submitted my jam entry https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/neon-hell which just makes the entry a little bit more complete. I think you'll see the quite obvious difference some hours can make :) I wish I had more time on the weekend to put all of that onto my compo, but I wasn't home half of the time and I made music for the first time, so those 27 seconds of repetetive music took ~6 hours to make :))
@angry-squirrels Really honored by your words! BTW I loved your game, the animations were absolutely superb!
Dare I say perfect? Loved it man! Great entry! The style was just a thing of beauty. I will closely analyze your particles, they look gorgeous!
@billieclipse
I really liked the music and there is some potential to add more to the game post compo: Some bumps (if you are heavy you can't get up those hills). A camera that follows you, powerups that make you quicker for some time... Would be a fun little adventure I guess? :)
Thanks everybody! Here is a list of changes which I would like to implement if this LD goes well and if I see interest in this sort of game
Arrow/WASD to look in the desired direction, 8 way style with fluid movement in between, separate buttons to accelerate, shoot and use boost Touch screen controls Gamepad support (rotational as it is now and directional via use of thumbstick and accelerating by moving the thumbstick further away from the center)
Refined art Bigger level Unlockable time of day color schemes Reduce particle count
Ground units, different aerial enemy types, bosses Different weapons and extra abilites Optional minimap
@ixcon: Sure! I'm happy to share what I know. (Might not be all too much :))
Just love you guys :D I'm really taking the feedback to heart. I wish I could modify the submitted games, but rest assured that I'm already working on a separate codestream implementing the features :)
@dawik9000 Thanks for your feedback! The theme is reflected by the mulitplicator. The enemy spawn rate is directly tied to the multiplicator. So the more points you make, the harder the game gets. If you play it slow you can fly for several minutes but you'll end up with just a handful of points. If you up the speed, increase your multiplicator and rake in high amounts of points the enemies will spawn and destroy you within a very short amount of time :)
Thanks for the nice feedback!
@lereveur It's a pitty that I couldn't add the compo and jam entry to the same account. I tried to get some support and merge both, but no luck so far. Thanks for the rating anyway!
@indie-gaming Thanks for taking the time to play my game, I really appreciate the feedback and I will try to incorporate your feedback. Keyboards sometimes really suck for gaming, especially when multiple keys need to be pressed at once :( I already received some feedback to implement gamepad support, so I guess I'll work on that as a priority.. and also some performance tweeks :D
@eniko As I add new enemy types, I will reduce the agressivity of these smaller mobs. I'm aware that the difficulty level right now is quite ... insane. Especially if you surpass the x40 multiplier level :) (After that **every second** 2-3 new enemies spawn)
@mestrerothld thanks man! I guess you can follow the development of neon hell on www.fatihtavukcu.de/ludumdare for now :D I don't have nearly enough time for this hobby of mine :(
