Great job! I love how funny it is, also really nice graphics!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

tinykidtoo 2024-10-08 17:58

Amazing voice acting! I was laughing the whole way through. Great animations, really does feel like those old Jurassic Park light gun games. I wish I had one of those old cabinets to play this in. That would be a blast.

kirass 2024-10-08 18:00

This game is so cool! I loved it!

firefalls 2024-10-08 18:02

A fun, arcade-style dino shooter. What a blast! The goofy VO was very funny!

derllie 2024-10-08 19:20

it reminded me game from my childhood, and i felt true nostalgia, love it

cliff-coffee 2024-10-08 19:31

Loved the voice overs "more dinos? thats impossible!" Definitely has that arcade feel. Runs nice and smooth. Keep up the good work!

gamergoblin 2024-10-08 19:49

From the moment I had to start the game by pressing "Commence the hunt" I knew it was going to rock!

As an avid fan of gallery shooters I know how deceptively difficult they can be to make. Having the from scratch 3D, VA, and smooth game play is impressive for a jam.

ale 2024-10-08 19:52

Not sure if the game is too hard or too east as we've been getting some mixed results from play testing. Here's a score I got from a recent playthrough for reference: AlexScore.png

shakirovich 2024-10-08 23:18

Never seen rail shooter for game jam so smooth, even if its into theme still very fun game.

nimidori311 2024-10-09 01:01

It makes you feel as if youโ€™ve returned to prehistoric times, experiencing the supreme glory of being a top predator.

nuin 2024-10-09 01:12

I felt like a big man with a big gun and I shot them all. Good arcade game

thechadrampage 2024-10-09 02:08

Fun Game love the concept, awesome submission!

tsaot 2024-10-09 02:13

At first I was not impressed, but the voiceover sold it for me. I wish there was a reload button instead of the automatic delay, but I guess I can just empty the clip while transitioning to force a reload.

This had me giggling and tense at the same time. I like the balance.

t-c 2024-10-09 02:23

Camera work was great, difficulty was tough but not too difficult, narration was funny, gameplay was very fun. Great game all around!

skleembof 2024-10-09 03:36

@tsaot my bad for not adding instructions anywhere but you can reload with right click

desibragg 2024-10-09 05:21

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Nice job on the concept. Assets look great! The wild driving and voice acting go hand in hand which adds to the vibe.

mithoskuu 2024-10-09 06:03

Simple but good fun, the driver was great

sviborg 2024-10-09 06:19

The game immerses you in the atmosphere of old arcades, and the voice acting is just brilliant - I laughed the whole way! ๐Ÿ˜„ The graphics and animations are top notch, and it feels like I've returned to my childhood with these games. The camera works smoothly, and the gameplay itself is nostalgic. Great job for the jam, bravo! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

sutt00 2024-10-09 07:58

Been a while since I've played a rail shooter. Took me back to House of the Dead. The on rails sections work well until you fall off the jeep. There were some issues with enemies reaching the jeep before I had a decent chance to kill them. It also doesn't fit with the tiny creatures theme. The hit detection on the dinos seems to be well implemented.

reyqwena 2024-10-09 09:37

Really Cool, maybe a litlle bit difficult but GoodJob!

shadowbrain 2024-10-09 11:59

Decent little rail shooter, just a bit confused how this relates to the theme?

And it was fairly basic since all you do is shoot dinos, there's no extra obstacles to shoot out of the way or buttons to press.

skleembof 2024-10-09 13:11

@sutt00 @shadowbrain

The idea for the theme was that YOU are the tiny creature on Dinosaur Island and you're killing giant dinosaurs to make yourself feel bigger.

I planned on making a t-rex and a triceratops which would have sold the fact that you're tiny a bit better but I ran out of time after underestimating how long it would take to create and finalize the main camera sequence. That's why I threw in that brachiosaurus "model" at the end

alezjl 2024-10-09 13:14

Congrats on creating such a thrilling dinosaur-themed light-gun shooter! The mix of intense dino action and arcade-style gameplay sounds like a blast.

shadowbrain 2024-10-09 13:22

Makes sense! Btw you should totally consider adding VR support, this seems like it'd basically be perfect for it! :)

richardgots123 2024-10-09 14:03

Good job! Really good result

juanrod707 2024-10-09 14:55

Holy crap! Loved this game, very action-packed! And the narrator just adds that level of immersion. Amazing Job!

pomidor-carry 2024-10-09 18:47

SHOOT EM ALL!!! That was great, annoying voice in the background adds to the humor! And this freaking diplodocus, like a cherry on a cake

risminator 2024-10-09 18:55

Such a hillarious game, definitely captures the arcade shooter feel!

douwe-ravers 2024-10-09 19:11

This was so nice! The voice over really made it so much better.

just-a-dev 2024-10-09 23:12

Ooh a good old rail shooter!

Very fun, felt well executed, the voice acting was solid. Great job to the two of you!

alem26 2024-10-10 08:47

This is such a silly and fun-to-play game, I love it! Ihe narration really made the game special compared to all the other shooters I have played here ;) Could be a bit louder compared to the music sometimes.

Maybe the dinosaurs are quite big for "tiny creatures", but it's a really well done game overall!

alchemic 2024-10-10 09:26

This game rocks! I can't imagine how hard it was to animate all this, I'm extremely impressed with the camera movement. I nearly passed out when I saw the brachiosaurus!

I used to love playing games like this in the arcade, and this made me realize I haven't played one in a while.

High-quality stuff!

wiredoverload 2024-10-10 11:20

This game is pretty neat other than the fact that I want to throttle the cameraman. I found it surprisingly difficult and died before realizing you could hold down "fire" and got a score of 12260. The voiceover was obviously great, although I wish there had been even a simple model of the driver it was coming from. Great work!

khaotom 2024-10-10 16:42

Fun funny game!

mabirus 2024-10-10 16:52

The game is cool and reminded me of old slot machines, as if I had returned to my childhood.

skyeward 2024-10-11 02:55

Can't believe you made a lightgun game! Genuinely really enjoyed it even without the lightgun. They don't make em like this any more!

budaniel 2024-10-11 03:10

Takes me back to the old lightgun games at the arcade, although Corpse Killer also sprung to mind. The challenge is real, and my only real gripe is suddenly getting kicked back to the main menu upon dying, rather than any game over menus (I only rated on the LD56 build, not the post-Jam builds).

chocolat-endive 2024-10-11 10:54

Woah, that's almost a forgotten type of game you made here! Something like a dinosaur in the realm of video game. :D

Dino feveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer

fever.png

And just a minor nitpick, pterodactyloids are not dinosaurs. But I guess this is not and educationnal game. :D

p0l4r 2024-10-11 18:28

Wild that you got all this done for the jam, well done!

dropmania 2024-10-12 09:55

Really cool game! must have been pretty hard to do all the smooth camera movements in this time. Also the Voiceovers are great :D

samuli 2024-10-12 10:02

Arcade audiovisuals replicated very nicely! Feel very much like cash-grab light gun game that could be found from a corner a smoky pub. I wish it had a credits system, so you could just force play through it.

pepechill 2024-10-12 18:22

Hello! Thanks to your game, I remembered my childhood when I used to play slot machines with my father! Thank you very much for the game!

greenpig 2024-10-14 17:28

Wow, what a fantastic throwback to the classic arcade shooters! ๐ŸŽฎ The voice acting had me laughing the whole way throughโ€”it really adds a fun layer to the game! I loved the smooth camera movements and the vibrant graphics; it felt like a nostalgic trip to my childhood arcade. I could definitely see this being a hit in a real arcade cabinet! Maybe consider adding a reload button, as that could enhance the gameplay even further. Overall, awesome job on capturing that wild dino-hunting vibe! Keep up the great work!

exa 2024-10-15 07:52

Nice game,very interesting plot!!!!Nice job!!!!

stuckne1 2024-10-17 17:40

This was great! The commentary was funny and it was challenging. I liked the graphics a lot as well.

surfa 2024-10-20 17:42

I really like this type of game and seen some good ones made in previous Jams. This one was fun to play and was generally well put together but suffered from a couple of things. * The slow-mo was more off putting than anything and nothing worse than reloading during the slow mo * The camera movements were slightly erratic in their pacing. Generally the speed of the movements is fairly consistent in these types of game. * The camera also felt like it moved a litte too much. Made it somewhat awkward to aim when fighting. Felt like the shooting galleries should have a more static camera position. * It felt like timing the reloads was the key to do well which is a little disappointing I would have preferred if reaction times and well aimed shots would had been more important.

Overall was fun to play. Love games with Voice acting in the Jam and impressive for two people in such a short period of time. Also loved the unfinished Brachiosaurus, was unintentionally hilarious. Would have loved a voiceline poking fun of it. Great job

ale 2024-10-20 18:55

@surfa thanks for the detailed feedback! Both of us are inexperienced with these types of games, so it's really helpful to get specific feedback like that.

We started researching some other light gun games recently, and I see what you mean about pacing. Going from a play-through of House of the Dead to ours is jarring! The first level in particular (the only level in the jam version) is way too slow.

I don't like how reloading works either. It's pretty frustrating to die while sitting around waiting for a reload. The idea was a solution to the problem of not having enough dinos. Adding enemies ended up being quite time consuming, and it was something we left until the end. So I figured restrictive reloading would help keep it challenging despite a low enemy count (it also ended up being too challenging though). If we decide to continue working on this, that'll be the first thing we'll change!

empyreans 2024-10-22 01:37

Had a blast playing this one, will definitely check out the new version of the game too!

I need lightguns :gun: Lots of lightguns :gun: :gun: :gun::gun:

Very cool game! Especially the updated version (though the jam version was a great foundation). Itโ€™s good for what it is. I can only imagine how fun it is with a light gun. A bit of polish, more levels, bug fixes, and maybe some original music are all it needs right now (oops, thatโ€™s actually a lot of work :face_palm:).

P.S. The voice acting was indeed Hollywood quality! :smirk:
