LD55 — Summoning

Rise of the CatMancer by Daniel C 2024-04-20T07:53:03Z

So fun to see when the game turns into complete chaos. The humour of it ridiculously good haha. It is difficult to click at all the corpses at the end, maybe an ability to activate a bunch would help, but it's still fun to unleash all this power! Great entry!

Pact Factory by tukisboolukis 2024-04-20T09:22:33Z

The game is sooo fun to figure out and experiment with. It deserves much more attention than it has now. It's so fun to get the strategy right and later just have fun with combining everything.

There is a bug that somewhat confused me at the start:

Без имени.png

Speed and Charm on the slab are mixed up so I didn't know what to trust at first. Decided to trust the flesh's characteristics and was right. If you're afraid of submitting bug fixes - don't be, small bug fixes (without new features) are allowed after the deadline!

Other than that, wow this game is great. The mechanics, the theme, the music and graphics are beautiful and complement each other. I think I'm going to return to it later. I'm looking forward to further development of this game if you want to do so!

Etsa Djavul by foolmoron 2024-04-19T15:01:20Z

Such a creative idea! So interesting how it was done on the coding side haha.

It's very fun to figure out the new words and spellings, feeling like an archeologist :)

Courtroom Conjurer by kalibrated 2024-04-19T14:49:40Z

A very fun game! However, because we have to pay attention to a lot of details, it'd be nice if it were easier to differentiate between them. Still, the art is very fun and cute, and gameplay is captivating; a unique and humorous take on the theme!

Summoned Assault by milano23 2024-04-19T14:23:16Z

Totally agreed, reverse TD is certainly and interesting idea that can be played with further. It would be very helpful to know what I'm up against, otherwise we have to guess what will work best. Some more polishing and there is a lot of potential!

Chefs from the Dead by Linky439 2024-04-19T13:43:22Z

The concept is interesting! If you add some more intensity with more cards at a time and, for example, make time limit for each dish but give more time in game overall, it'll create a quick-paced arcade experience to quickly throw out cards that fit the situation the best. But maybe you'll find some other approach! Nice art :)

Demon Well by 100th_Coin 2024-04-19T16:39:29Z

Suuuuch a hillarious game hahaha! Also sound design and music are spectacular here. This game is played one breath, the pacing is that great. And interesting how all of the surroundings complement each other and look natural within different styls. Great job!

Mushroomaissance by katamary 2024-04-16T18:33:22Z

Such a soothing and beautiful game! Music and sound effects also help to get into this meditative state of play. So peaceful and charming. Love it!

Sheep Tunes by kazuo256 2024-04-19T15:16:56Z

Wow, this is truly something else. It's intuitive, pleasant to eyes and ears, and so diverse! So many variations and combinations that I can choose from, and there is a strategic element too. I appreciate that I can see the history of previous summons to adjust my future summon. Great job on your team!

Dimension Duck by gemcc 2024-04-15T06:26:25Z

It's very fun to plan ahead where to go and where to summon animals to avoid scientists! Throwing a good portal knocks enemies a bit, which especially helps at the start of the game when you don't have any additional abilities.

I was confused by having 3 different summoning spells, however. Initially thought that they would be able to interact (dog chases cat, cat chases bird?), but it doesn't seem to be like that. The possibility of combining those like that would be a great way to diversify gameplay and raise skill ceiling.

Thank you very much for your game!

Depths of Hell by pres2300 2024-04-15T13:42:24Z

It's great to see people learning Godot as I am doing so too. Keep up the good job!

I think it would be great to be able to move faster, as it takes me some time to get to the bones after I've beaten all the enemies (or maybe smaller levels?). And as people mentioned, it'd be helpful to have some more ways to avoid the boss's bullets.

As people also mentioned, great work with the theme! It is a very interesting concept to summon the boss yourself, has great potential for further development of such game! (maybe, for example, the way you summon the boss affects the boss itself?)

Summoning Ritual by velvetlobster 2024-04-18T23:26:22Z

Cute little story! The art is so great here, the character feels responsive and everything is pleasing to the eyes and ears.

The Quackening by BauBau 2024-04-19T15:06:42Z

Cute graphics, nice music and take on the theme! It was quite difficult to keep the ducklings following you, but overall the game is fun, good job!

Penguinology by Smidgens 2024-04-19T13:16:33Z

I agree, I couldn't see that I had to interact with the log. But that was worth it hahaha. The game and your replies here are so funny, love it!

cheezard by PizzArt64 2024-04-20T09:27:48Z

Nice game feel! The contorls feel very responsive because of the feedback while firing: screen shake, effects etc. Gameplay is fun, great job!

Words of Power by nsadie 2024-04-18T23:37:18Z

Great idea! Agree with people above, this blend of mechanics is very fun to play with. Nice job!

Summoning Guidebook by Sariiger 2024-04-20T08:38:18Z

Nice, it's really great that the game gives you enough information to proceed without handholding you. After a bit of confusion I read the hints and could do everything else on my own. This "path finding" while experimenting with ingredients for summoning is really fun. Great game, and after polishing touches that you've already mentioned it'll become even greater! Splendid job!

Summongrel by James_7777 2024-04-15T13:29:20Z

Such a fun idea to play with! Loved the adorable art and the potential behind summoning platforms and switching between several characters.

It would be helpful to have an option to quickly restart a level if one made a mistake or wanted to skip a cutscene. This way maybe it'd be even easier to stay in the flow of iterating through different ideas.

The creativity in this game is fantastic, good job!

Fun game, thank you for making it!

Tower Of Madness by Chiara Sanviti 2024-04-18T21:52:53Z

Really fun, great and addicting short game. Game loop is simple yet has depth to maximizing the output. Got 137k blood and I'm certain there's more to get!

Art is funny and creative. Didn't encounter any bugs. I'm amazed that everything was done in such a short period!

Don't really know if there's anything to criticize. Maybe for further development it'd be great if you could always use arrow combinations without clicking, which could raise the skill ceiling (maximizing APM).

Thank you for your game, it's so inspirational and cool!

enChant by maximevincent 2024-04-20T08:14:50Z

I'm in love with this idea. Reminds of old Harry Potter games in learning spells sections. However, I couldn't experience this game. The tutorial didn't recognize my wand movements as correct most of the time, and the game wouldn't detect my voice correctly. I managed to summon something only one time out of the tutorial, after that - only skeletons. And I didn't know what was wrong each time. Maybe it'd be helpful to have a written hint why the spell didn't work (was it chanting or wand movement? Seeing how tutorial went, it could be both). It'd also be helpful if the game visualized the wand movements that it recognized (with arrows) and wrote the words that I was chanting (with text label), this way I'd have an idea if I was doing this right. Без имени.png

Maybe it's something wrong on my device. I'll try it with a different one later, and if something changes, I'll let you know. Game feedback would still be very helpful!

Anyway, that's a very creative, charming and fun entry! Giving you highest ratings. Great job!

Pulse of the Ethereal by DzejPi 2024-04-15T13:13:19Z

It's challenging to aim (might agree with people on having an optional crosshair), but learning the controls is so fun and rewarding here! Props for implementing this 3D from-back view in Godot, so impressive! (and in 48 hours, compo? Wow)

Great game!

Wrath of Elements by Artemy Zen 2024-04-18T22:51:46Z

I like how I need to quickly react to the enemies and their elements. Creates a great dynamic of line management. But the constantly and quickly changing elements on the altar kind made my eyes tired quickly. Love the cute visuals!

Ezra’s Bloodcall by Senso 2024-04-18T14:15:30Z

Congrats on your 20th rating! That was me :)

I love your game so much!!! I think that this concept has a lot of potential to play around and develop even more. And I have some critique / ideas not because I want to scrutinize it, but because I really love this game and want it to improve.

I more often than not picked optional upgreades (Those are called sacrifices I presume?) on accident. I really didn't want to pick some of them, but I did so because (I thought) my weapons and abilities did so (I had too low hp and accidentaly picked -Max HP, happened too many times hahah). And when I wanted to get them, I didn't know how many times I need to tackle it to get it. And THEN I figured out that they activated on the summoning circle when stopped there. I guess I needed some guidance on that point. Adore the strategy that comes with it though!

I love that the learning curve is quite easy to follow, it's not too steep (something I should learn to do). At first I just tended to tacke everything without thinking, but with time I learned to appreciate different movement techniques (like stopping by just clicking, makes the player much more controllable). But sometimes it felt like it went from "I'm killing everything" to "Oops I lost" a bit too quickly. Maybe it's my bad though hahah

It's great that there are different builds that I can make. Personally, I preferred having a stinky aura + fire orbitals combo. Enemies are great: they are readable, they are fair and they are diverse, wow! Art and sound effects are on point, preferred to have some dynamic music on the background to fully immerse myself in this game flow, but it's a nitpick for such a game.

Man, I'm saying "I love" too much because I'm in awe with this game. I have a lot to learn from you for my projects. You rock! I see that this game gathers a lot of inspiration from Vampire Survivors and The Binding of Isaac, but I believe that with more development your game will find its own identity. Couldn't get farther than wave 10 though, but It'll be an eternity before I beat it so I'll stop here for now and come back later. Thank you for your game!

That's My Stop by Meranolean 2024-04-18T21:17:19Z

A great concept, fun art, and nice game!

The strategy is really interesting here. Managing 3 carriages is very engaging and has some different ways to do so. I managed to get to 166 miles. Sometimes it does feel that a lot depends on whether at some point the carriages doesn't get struck by 2 rockets at a time. If that happens on score ~50, the game is lost. It does seem sometimes that I wasn't even at fault in my defeat. Cog spawn at the very start is very critical too for an early summoner. It is challenging, fun but I can't determine what my mistakes are.

I certainly think that 180-200 is possible if I don't get myself killed but let the carriage get destroyed, but don't know if it's possible to go further. I'm curious to know what's your highscore to know what's possible here!

I've been playing for an hour, maybe more. That means that your game really is captivating! Certainly needs more ratings. Great job!

That's My Stop by Meranolean 2024-04-19T09:07:37Z

@meranolean, ah, I didn't know that you can have you carriages destroyed and continue playing! I somehow thought that if even one carriage was destroyed, it meant game over. Thank you for the tip and your fun game!

Ribbit Craft by Kerioth 2024-04-16T18:40:12Z

Adorable art style, so much creativity and personality! So impressive that it was done in 48 hours. Love the option to buy recipes, as it was very tough for me to guess a new recipe. Great job!

Genie Cleany by Neandi 2024-04-18T22:10:23Z

Couldn't grasp how to effectively play and manage to keep up with the genie with 3 tools (and the fact that fire returns after some time if you don't brush afterwards), but the concept is very interesting! Graphics and sounds are very charming, the game does certainly bring a smile :)

Summoner's Rifft by matid90 2024-04-18T23:12:40Z

Simple to get in, but a fun game to learn. I like the random upgrades that let you choose your way of progressing! Certainly more people need to see this

On The Line by evilgeniusdance 2024-04-15T14:18:53Z

Really love the concept, I strongly agree that this mechanic can be expanded a lot!

For the first-time player, it's quite difficult to operate on a time limit (also considering it's a puzzle). Maybe it'd be easier to start with turn-based limits for new players and then introduce the time limit when the players are familiar and comfortable with them?

I certainly love this puzzle. Thank you for this great game, it really is inspiring!

Hellmouth Pizza by FunnyPumpkin 2024-04-16T18:15:17Z

I love the art style and funky music!

The timing of the orders was quite tough, I often couldn't keep up with the first order. Also I'd love to have an option to remove an ingredient from my hand just by clicking right mouse button for example - without the need to drag it to specific area of the screen. I also missed the circle to put an ingredient a bunch of times.

The idea is so fun though: when I got the hang of the conrols, the gameplay loop got very addicting, nice game!

Astral Tale by Oznarox 2024-04-18T23:20:11Z

Very cute art and responsive controls. Slide feels a bit stiff, but overall the movement feels good! And the mood given by the music and art is definitely charming.

If Only by ScoobyDoo 2024-04-15T14:39:07Z

I really love using arrow combinations and mastering them to react quickly to enemies!

Though I was often confused when I pressed 1 more key by mistake and couldn't understand why I couldn't summon anything for a second. Maybe some sound cue for pressing a key and messing up the summon could help? (and maybe some feedback there: shake animation on those arrow "cells" when it's failed)

Also agreed that it is ridiculous in a very fun way, has its own charm! :)

Idea Catcher——Summoning Tools by DrgCandle 2024-04-18T23:03:13Z

Such a cute game with adorable presentation! And not only that, such an enjoyable and creative puzzle game. It's so charming! You people did such a great job on all fronts!!! Definitely something to look up to

Elementalist by tubbylumcin 2024-04-15T17:15:26Z

Great game, especially for a first jam (and solo)! Really like the potential strategies on what runes to choose and when to use the bottom circle.

At first I was confused about what rune and enemy does what, and then realised that our base (book on the right) is clickable. It might help to highlight clickable objects (as you did with runes). Also it'd be very convenient to be able to replace the rune on the circle without the need to put it out every time. It is also quite easy to figure out one optimal strategy right now, as earning money is not a problem here.

I am a fan of this gameplay loop, though; adding some variety in difficulty and/or combinations might make this a really enjoyable chill tower defense game. Nice job on this game!

Cat Wizard by Lily Hubbard 2024-04-19T14:09:37Z

I love the visuals and spell mechanic! The crouch is so adorable :) I got stuck inside the walls unfortunately, so I couldn't beat the game at the end :( I like that you use flamethrower to light up the surroundings, but it's difficult to use this way because of cooldown. Nice concept and game! Some polishing and it's going to be great!

Dungeon Internship by Dams333 2024-04-20T08:50:14Z

I'd really love to have hotkeys for the runes, this way I'd be able to go through the combinations faster. Also I don't know if 90 is the max score for 1 monster, as I only got that max (does it depend only on matches or on the number of used runes too?).

The game is great and unique, I like this spin on the theme, I had fun with it! Nice job!

Forge Lord by Hazard Game Dev 2024-04-16T18:03:16Z

Great game! And wow, those sound effects are so satisfying ahahaha.

It is smart that you have to pick up the ingredients so that you don't stay at the anvil all the time - but maybe it'd be fun to have something else to do while summons are defending? Also a way to return my summons to the anvil would help: I had 4 minions out of 4 in the corner of the screen killing monsters there, while the other monster destroyed the anvil without any problems.

Overall, the gameplay loop is very addicting and fun! Also love the art style :)

Summon Cats by tinyfinn 2024-04-15T06:10:59Z

Charm is this game's strength! It really feels like summoning when you feed your cats irl hahah

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-15T07:16:49Z

@dzejpi Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, looking back, having at least 2 lives would have made it much more forgiving. I guess hours of replaying it while developing has affected my perception of how tough it is hahaha

But if anyone does manage to beat the game this way, big respects! (people let me know if you do so haha)

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-15T13:19:36Z

@gemcc Yeah, I've been playing myself after releasing and only AFTER I notice this haha

I'm still figuring out how to implement different controls in Godot, so yeah, I think an option to have alternative control schemes would be ideal. However, I do think mouse would still feel great if I'd implemented it better (first time having a character folow the cursor, already see room for improvement).

Thanks for playing and feedback everyone!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-15T14:43:33Z

Thanks to everyone for kind words and feedback!

Also, if you want to get the highest score but restarting takes some time, download the .exe file for Windows. The experience restarting the game is smoother there!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-15T20:40:11Z

@worldofmush Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you liked our game so much haha

If retry lag bothers you, try downloading exe file! Only web version has this lag.

About control versions: we'll see if we can do something after this jam to make the gameplay better via small tweaks; stay tuned by following [my itch io](https://risminator.itch.io/) in case we update it there later!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-17T12:26:44Z

@gemcc @evilgeniusdance @worldofmush @thesecondleft @artemy-zen and for everyone else who liked our game but struggled with controls! Thank you for your feedback, it was indeed a bug and not an intended experience, and we, according to the rules, published mouse control fix, which enables you to control the character without any stutterring and pausing. Available on [itch io page](https://risminator.itch.io/akinos-dungeon) and in downloads here!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-19T14:05:57Z

@drgcandle Still amazed that you beat our game even before bug fix haha. Props to you! It means a lot to us

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-19T18:07:44Z

@drgcandle Yeah I understand, I actually meant thath you had finished our game ^^ (got to the end of it), it's impressive considering its difficulty haha (that's how I'd understood "wrapped up" at least)

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-20T20:26:11Z

Finally got to reply to the comments I hadn't replied to before!

@hugimugi7 @odinvii @thesmellofoxygen @sariiger @congusbongus @linky439 @chibiata @rendow @oznarox @smidgens Yes, unfortunately, before the submission and massive playtest it's easy to underestimate the difficulty as a developer and my biggest mistake here that I'm thinking a lot about (especially the lvl 1 wolves). After the voting period ends, I'm considering a release of the "Revisit Update" to this game on itch.io with alternative controls and smoother learning curve! Don't know about HP though, it may be an option!

@liu-pa-yueh @thehumanspooder @james-7777 @pres2300 @scoobydoo and others that I've already replied to (don't want to ping more than 1 time haha): thank you very much for your early comments, it means a lot to us! It gave us more motivation to improve further and learn from our mistakes (and really made our days)!

@hazard-game-dev @mado-mado-bones @meranolean @magik8bal @velvetlobster @nsadie It warms my heart that you (and other people that I've already relpied to) kept on playing this game even though it was so difficult in this version!

@chiara-sanviti It's always nice to see when people find such fun strategies to progress further, it really is the best way to battle the steep learning curve right now haha

@kirass (you've even written twice haha!) @yopin @denismarasan @dams333 Thank you for your kind words!!

Thank you!

I hope I didn't miss anyone I hadn't replied to yet! I've checked out all of your people's games, they are great (going to rate & comment to the games of people who just commented soon)!! Keep up the good work! I'm truly inspired by your entries. Hope there are people who are interested in this game after this jam. If you are, consider following us and our game at [itch io](https://risminator.itch.io/akinos-dungeon)!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-21T13:24:41Z

@aviv-levy If I could change one thing that wasn't a bug in this game, it would certainly be the speed boost for enemies at the first upgrade. If it weren't for the rules, I'd have certainly removed that and made other changes to the balance. I do think that the game needs to be more lenient in difficulty, and imo the best way is not to rely on HP to make it easier to hide the design mistakes but to introduce the balance changes that let the player react to the challenges that arrive. And the changes that you propose are certainly some of those I'm seriously considering to do after the voting period when it's allowed! An option to have more HP, though, is an idea I think is great for different people to have.

Thank you for the feedback!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-21T13:25:56Z

@yanato colliders? Hm, I don't think I've encountered any problems with them. But it may appear this way because of the wolves' speed after the first upgrade. Thanks for playing!!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-21T13:33:43Z

@trevor-lentz Ah, now I see what people mean by floaty controls and how that feels that way. Thank you for your input here and the determination in your play!

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-21T18:10:09Z

@tommy It's interesting to see that people see the difficulty of our game differently. But it certainly wasn't by design that the game made the most people stay at Akino lvl 1, it should be more challenging at later stages and less so at the first ones. So that's an oversight. Yeah, considering the zoom, but gotta figure out how to do that while not making everything too small. Thank you!

Vampire Summoners by DenisMarasan 2024-04-18T23:31:46Z

The idea is certainly something! Challenge that the players can decide for themselves - I love maintaining the balance between summoning enough enemies to get a lot of points and not getting overwhelmed by them.

Hell Shift by AndrewByte 2024-04-16T20:33:28Z

This game surprised me in how fun it is to navigate.

I don't know if it's intented, but I often chose to ignore the enemies and just walk past them to get the sacred items as there were too much of them to kill. It was fun to figure out how to avoid them though!

And the guard's walk is just something else, it's so sassy and fun, just makes me feel unstoppable hahaha

Thank you for this game!

Summit of the Gods by magik8bal 2024-04-18T22:44:58Z

Simple to understand and simple to get into. And wow, first ever game jam? Congrats on making this game in such a short time!

Feel Good by Polina Vlasova 2024-04-19T13:27:44Z

Yeah, I'd really like to have a skip text option, because the text moves slower than I can read. Also spent some time figuring out controls, but I managed to do so quite quickly. Other than that, aesthetic and atmosphere are great. Very artistic and odd (in a good way)! Very ingriguing and interesting game :)

Cat In Hat by AntOnion 2024-04-16T18:47:42Z

A charming and easy to learn game, as the gameplay is intuitive and fun. Cute visuals and sound effects!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

The Plaguers by strong99 2024-10-08T14:44:29Z

It's a compo game? Wow!

I really liked the idea of switching between the layers to defend at the same time. But the AI does indeed bug out sometimes, and it sometimes seemed that I spawned my unit on the wrong layer or misjudged on what layer the rats were. However, it's fun to be able to see the enemies running on the different layer ahead of time!

Really creative!

Autumn Picnic by Gao Ming 2024-10-09T11:19:53Z

So cute!!! And I love that there is some danger with flytrap plants, so you have to be careful at the later levels. The game is so smooth, from the gradual increase in size to all the animations. It's so jiggly! And the sfx with jingles makes the gameplay so satisfying and rewarding. Great work!

Karma Keepers by Nazariglez 2024-10-09T08:51:51Z

It was very difficult to get progress in the beginning, feeling that you can't win. The last upgrade is the one that turns the tides though, so be patient! (I almost quit when I thought I couldn't win but decided to push through). It's so satisfying to "scoop" the corrupted souls bit by bit and slowly overtake the whole screen! Ingenious mechanic and implementation!

Your Dreadful Majesty by Shess 2024-10-08T08:37:55Z

What an interesting game! The interpretation of my actions was confusing at times in my first playthrough. Sometimes "sleeping" may mean approval of the plea and sometimes it may mean ignoring the plea, and something like that for every choice. But I don't really think that it worsens the experience: Indeed, the god's answers aren't interpreted the same way by different people. The resource system is very intuitive and really well designed though! In some time, I managed to understand how the game works. It's easy to become attached to your cult, and it was very interesting to know how to get an ending I want, the hint system motivates you to explore more options, it's intriguingly good!

The music, the altar that changes depending on your choices, gorgeous UI and beautiful writing - Such an immersive experience, thank you for your game!

Hare Rescue by FTZ 2024-10-10T07:11:46Z

It was challenging to know what you need to do to progress, but once you notice how the objects in the world interact, it becomes a fun puzzle! It's very enjoyable to discover how everything works and use this knowledge to beat the game! Good job on making this game!

Age of Honey by LuckyFeathers 2024-10-09T22:28:15Z

@j-rara I think that you chose that position by accident. You can choose where the bees go when they spawn by right-clicking while the hive is chosen

Age of Honey by LuckyFeathers 2024-10-09T22:31:48Z

This is such a perfect game. RTS that is responsive, easy to understand, addicting and also looks and sounds great! Wow, I really could play it more if I could.

I'm so shocked that you managed to come up with the concept, implement not only the mechanics, but also all the QoL features found in RTS games, and give the game its charm! (The bees' voicelines are so funny and charismatic - "Bee moving" haha) And all that in 72 hours with two people!

Thank you for this game, it's one of my favourites now! This definitely needs more ratings.

An Itsy Bitsy RPG by Bobap 2024-10-08T15:31:36Z

Wooow, the game is so nicely done! It's sometimes tricky to get the spider to go where you want, but it's a puzzle suited for full mobile! Appreciate the effort made to come up with and implement the web mechanic. And solo! Well done!

Animal Golfing by Andreadbx 2024-10-09T13:07:29Z

I love this, such a polished game, definitely a great team management here. The art is cute and the amount of details is just right! It is sometimes difficult to see where you are going though because the camera is almost fixed at one direction. Being able to see where you are going is crucial in this type of game.

It's so fun to make use of the animals' abilities to make the sequence breaks and go for the record! Very well made game, thanks for making it!

Black Harvest by creativ4eg 2024-10-10T10:37:15Z

The creatures are so cute! Not only the design, but all the sounds they make! Certainly good job here :)

Tailor Arena by DeerCat 2024-10-09T11:43:43Z

The idea is very great! I love the idea behind destroying threads of the enemy and getting advantage because of that, it has potential for strategic play. However, strategy is not really applicable here, as the hit probabilities are too low imo. If there were higher probabilities, the fights would be quicker and more rewarding. Now, it is much easier to just hit the body and win. But I noticed that getting rid of the enemy's limbs is so much more fun, so making the probabilities higher sure would help. And the presentation here is phenomenal! Punches (when they land) are satisfying, the modular character sprites are cute and the whole "sock puppet theater" aesthetic is so fun. It is a great and creative submission, good job! It is certainly underrated and needs more ratings!

Meatheads by bigwhiteshogun 2024-10-09T15:28:17Z

It's a very fun game when you get grips with it! It is too punishing sometimes though. You need meat to summon the units, but you also need units to deal damage and get meat. If the circles didn't instakill, it would be easier (losing all the units because of 1 mistake is very punishing). So I would either make it not instakill, or give more telegraphing for it (telegraph time is decent, but for such a deadly attack you definitely need more). The strategy I went with was spamming melees: I didn't need shield one because I just retreated when the frog used a melee attack and attacked only when it had an attack animation, and the ranged minions are very expensive with very little damage; so a lot of resources for not so much value, moreover when you can lose all of it with one attack. But it is challenging to balance the difficulty though (I've certainly made some mistakes with that previously haha). The artstyle is cute with patapon-like monsters! And the font is stylish. The music would've done wonders to this game! Certainly a fun and creative entry that deserves much more ratings. I love the boss battles and minion control!

Dino Island Safari by Skleembof 2024-10-09T18:55:00Z

Such a hillarious game, definitely captures the arcade shooter feel!

VERMIN Tiny Creatures by Kevin Meissner 2024-10-09T12:02:32Z

This game needs more ratings, it's so fun!

The sounds and timings of enemies' deaths are a bit clunky, but it's just a nitpick.

The megarat model and rat's shiny red eyes are something else haha. Throwing a bunch of rats into enemies is satisfying!

Thanks for the game and congrats on 20 ratings ;)

BoroPoro by Pomo 2024-10-09T13:33:15Z

This game has a lot of potential to have a dedicated niche speedrunning community if exlpored further. The skill floor (as well as the skill ceiling) is indeed high and it's very satisfying as soon as you get grips with the controls! Nice solo game!

Ants Save The Queen by Filip Vannfält 2024-10-09T10:06:49Z

A top-notch game with an innovative idea!

**Regarding gameplay**: Challenging but not too difficult. The idea of ammo = hp is fun and creative, but there is some room for improvement, as it does have a snowball effect: if you don't get hit, you steamroll the enemies. But the less ants (hp) you have, the more difficult it is to fight the enemies, therefore more chances to get hit again, so it's easier to restart the game than to continue with 3-4 ants. The upgrades and more ants that are here are appreciated though!

**The feel**: wow, every system is made with care. The artstyle is consistent, functional and beautiful, SFX helps telegraph the enemy attacks and gives great feedback, the rhytmic but non-interruptive music just makes playing the game a meditative experience.

Love it! Certainly one of my favourites so far. 5 stars is a no-brainer!

Pawned Potential by ilya096 2024-10-08T13:43:55Z

It took me a lot of time to see that I can punch with LMB as it doesn't have an animation, the sound is silent and there is no LMB in controls UI. But when I got past that, the game was enjoyable, the mechanic of buying and selling your abilities definitely has potential in the future. Thank you for the game!

Tiny Colony by MrEliptik 2024-10-10T10:54:36Z

This is such a cute and polished game! Good job and managing time and resources here! It's so fun throwing a bunch of tiny creatures of objects and see the result. And hear all the cute sounds!

And yeah, levels are very well designed! And the fact that there are several ways to beat the level is intriguing and makes you want to play it again with a new perspective, so ingenious!

A phenomenal game here. And all this in godot, really makes me want to learn more about it! I even realised that I watched some of your tutorials haha

Grablin Battle Festival by HaaYaargh 2024-10-10T13:42:17Z

Very nice entry! I love that even when the goblins battle by themselves, you still play an active part in positioning, dodjing, etc. There are strategic *and* microcontrol aspects of skill here. The gameplay is so fun. And the goblins themselves are very cute!

Maratus In Love by robin_schmitz 2024-10-09T20:57:59Z

Such a cute game! I love it sooo much! I haven't noticed any flaws while playing, it's so polished!

The jump is responsive, the thajectory is always clear (I **really** appreciate that), the animations are so bouncy, sfx gives nice feedbak and ambient music makes the experience meditative. It's just perfect.

And while it's easy to play, it's hard to master! There is some room for competetive speedrunning haha. I still have some room for improvement though! (current record: 1:49)

0% speedrun possible?! (it is challenging to NOT get any leaves haha)

@robin-schmitz I think that the restart button should be checked, it freezes the game for me :(

ConquerAnts by Pierre-Marie 2024-10-08T15:10:04Z

What a huge project!

It was challenging to get grips with the game's rules, but it is really fun! I'm amazed at how many mechanics you managed to come up with and implement. And it's refreshing to see those two different genres playing in harmony here. Thanks for the game!

Jacob's Ladder by Kekyr 2024-10-08T13:56:55Z

Making an RTS game only in the time frame of a jam is truly a challenging task. Controls are sometime confusing and the SFX, while amusing, scared me a bunch of times haha. Cute artstyle!

Critter Journal by germ 2024-10-09T13:30:02Z

Cute entry! This game certainly inspires a lot of curiosity, sense of wonder and discovery! The aesthetic is really calming and cozy. The little animations and sound effects definitely add to the charm :)

Destroy these tiny creatures, they are nasty and swarming by HangoverGames 2024-10-08T14:35:10Z

This is such a great entry! Keeping it simple to focus on the best parts while participating solo. The gameplay is so satisfying with visual and sound feedback. Truly charming!

Tiny Trails by Custodi 2024-10-10T13:18:53Z

Mechanics are simple but unique and diverse! Great game and level design here. You don't even need to read an instruction to get what to do! Such a good job, and in a compo no less!

The Little Life by Lucy Z 2024-10-09T20:39:14Z

I don't know if I managed to win... It looks balanced enough but it still wants me to pay more attention. Maybe the win condition could be more merciful or have a numerical value to strive for (it's difficult to eye the scale).

But wow, this is such a gorgeous game! The idea is ingenious and it's so beautifully implemented! It's so satisfying to see life striving. Thank you for making this game!

Defenders of the Crystal Skull by Imagicaine 2024-10-08T14:09:00Z

I agree with avzgui, the ability to spawn several creatures without clicking would be helpful. The game is quite easy to beat, but the mechanics are fun and have potential for another game. I've always wanted a td game with units that move and attack the enemy's armies! And I adore the artstyle and sfx! It's detailed but cute and not oversaturated, it's just pleasing to the eye. Thank you for the game!

Druid's Friends by Risminator 2024-10-10T06:22:21Z

Thanks to everyone for feedback!

If you are confused what to give the animals, you can try looking through the tips on the bottom right! (A paper with green arrows)

Beyond Fear by Arsmih24 2024-10-09T11:10:24Z

So much care went into this game! Gameplay is simple, but the game is so atmospheric, and a lot of factors play into that here. But first, one nitpick I have is that the jumps are too tight, some people could have trouble jumping over pits. Checkpoints may be helpful, but I think it would be better to make the pits shorter if we don't want to increase movement speed. And now, for the things I was fascinated by:

**Gameplay:** While the timer is forgiving, it still creates a sense of urgency, so it is a great addition here. And I haven't noticed any problems with bug paths: at all times you have a place to hide or avoid a bug. It could have some more mechanics and game feel though!

**Story:** Simple yet endearing, having nightmares as a kid and conquering your fears is relatable.

**Graphics:** visual style is so horrifyingly alluring. Storyboarding in the cutscenes is great, there are a lot of beautiful frames. Font is well-suited here too! And in-game, walking among the bugs really feels like you are so little... emphasized by depth given by the background. You feel so helpless in this game.

**Sound design:** I love that everything has a SFX. In cutscene (even sighs), jumps (but the wooden raft is a bit loud, I suppose), the telegraphing of the bugs being nearby, hiding in the bushes, creepy ambiance and sfx... You can't help but feel at least a little bit paranoid at all times. Such a fantastic job here!

Thank you for this game, this is a beautiful submission!

Evergrove by Chariot 2024-10-09T09:04:46Z

Wow... to make this game in a jam, with procedural generation, ai and all the systems... so breathtaking! Proficiency in godot is evident here. And the game is very addicting! Thanks for the game!

Jim's Quest for Birthday present by Sobigdrasil 2026-05-02T09:34:24Z

Came from the post! Very charming game, namely visual and sound design. Everything feels so soothing and calming, you can get in the "zone" looking for the scrap. It felt a little slow in the beginning (no upgrades or changes to gameplay for a long time), but it speeds up after the while. Took me maybe 20-25 minutes to beat it. But it was fun playing it with something else in the background to chill.

Thank you for the game! Very cute and cozy.

Bad Vibes by RubixNoob13 2026-05-05T19:37:41Z

Came from the post! Totally understand the rush just before the deadline (have experience with that myself haha). Completed the full version. If I were to nitpick anything, is that it's really easy to fall and lose your whole progress. It took me 3 tries to find out that you can use JUMP while on ladders as it is not quite common in retro games :D.

Congrats on finishing the game!

Very well done idea! The sound is relaxing, and the option to set your bpm is neat. It becomes quite tiring after some time, but it is quite fun :).

Implementing a rhythm game is quite challenging, so congrats on a great compo entry!

U.P.L.I.N.K by Gecko64 2026-05-02T10:54:02Z

Very fun puzzles! I completed all of the levels. The only thing I wish I could do is the way to zoom out so I can see the whole map, I repeatedly lost myself in all of those buildings. But it was really fun to figure out optimal ways to direct the signal :) And the silly meme-like art-style is quite charming.

Thank you for the game!

Tunnel Vision by Risminator 2026-05-02T20:34:59Z

@thoth thank you for playing!

@imnotvegan Yeah, I see that. But while testing, we've noticed that people not used to third-person games really struggled with it, so I decided not to overcomplicate it too much given the time constraints. But really appreciate the feedback!

@galareteg Yes, it was the first time handling third-person camera, it is a struggle haha. Thank you for the kind words!

@gecko64 Thanks for playing! Getting more experience with Unity, step by step :)

System Invader by heat 2026-05-05T20:25:41Z

Very clever game! Player is always in a state of "it's so over" when in fact you can get out. But it does snowball very easily and resources are so difficult to get. I'd only give 1 more movement to the player so that you don't waste too much time at the start. But it is so addicting I just can't stop playing. Want to try and beat the game. Thanks for making it, it's so fun!

Edit: I did it ^^
