I need some time to understand how the letters appear
The concept is very interesting but I am pretty bad at this :'D My sense of rhythm and speed are just not good enough. The music is very relaxing, the beats are satisfying and I really really like the idea of the game. Just wish I was good at it xD The thing is I thought I just have to click while the text is green. But no, I have to do it exactly when beat sound plays. And I just... yeah. I wish I could explore your game more >-< I am curious if there will be a message deciphered in the end or a poem as you mention poem in the description +-+
@kanity if you want to cheat a little you can actually just hold down a scroll wheel button during the game (also starting with some crazy bpm to get there faster, i used a random key smash like 27645673892 at testing lol, but you might like to turn the beat sound off), it will just count every beat as successful and you can read that thang, thanks for the feedback btw!
Neat, I like the idea. It took a bit of getting used to, and I'm still not 100% I understand exactly what I am supposed to do. It seems like sometimes I'll be on the beat, and miss, other times I'll press the wrong button and it will still count. But beyond that, I spent a decent amount of time playing this. The song is nice, and I like the idea of decoding a message via a rhythm game. Good job!
I came to the call of you and rhythms! Greetings, and let me say “thank you” right away - this was a pretty pleasant game. Honestly, I had fun! It turned out to be quite a measured, relaxing, and meditative experience for me. That's cool. The sound is nice, the feedback is good, there's a window for error (sometimes I spaced out on which button to press), and the minimalistic visuals fit the theme.
That it was Morse code I only realized on the second go - the first time I was trying to simultaneously look at the next step and read the text. Who knew the whole text would be displayed at the end, haha.
But since the visuals ended up very minimal and the sounds neutral, the strongest impression is made by the music, and it… gives this melancholic feeling, relaxed and peaceful. Like you're looking at the stars and taking in the scale of the vast cosmos. Which… gave me mixed signals when I initially read the message and thought about the poor soul stuck somewhere out there. As if I'd already accepted his fate, but he keeps trying to escape.
Still, it was fun, and it's nice to hear that someone's rhythm turned out well, unlike mine.
P.S. The additional soundtrack is so aggressive, wow, I'm very curious to know what it was originally meant to score. If it was gameplay, then that must have been some very active typing in concept, hah!
Good idea. It is easy to get hold of controls and rhythm. The only thing is, i understood that there is a message typed under the click button, but i`m too consentrated on pressing right buttons that i dont even give it a glance. And to press pause every time to read the message aint so good for my rhythm skill. xD But in general, very nice game!
Neat idea, took me a while to understand when exactly you want me to press the button, I was initially lining it up with the sound but getting everything as misses, then off by half a beat which gave me better results but still a lot of misses, eventually I figured out that I'm supposed to press as soon as the text is moved into the "now" box (which on my setup was not synced very good with the audio unfortunately). Would maybe be nice with maybe like a gradual "slide" like most rhythm games will have to show you exactly when you're supposed to press.
I like that you still get to continue if you miss some letters and can still decipher the full message at the end, cool idea. If you're bad at the rhythm part you can make up for it at the end with good decryption skills
Very well done idea! The sound is relaxing, and the option to set your bpm is neat. It becomes quite tiring after some time, but it is quite fun :).
Implementing a rhythm game is quite challenging, so congrats on a great compo entry!
Very moody! The main mechanic is interesting. Took me a bit to figure out how to keep the rhythm, which is fun that you can see by how garbled the start of the message ended up being, but you can also see how I improved. But there are still holes here and there where I was trying to read the words as they appeared and missed the beats for a second or two.

Somehow the beat and the background music being separate wasn't an issue since the music was so mellow (which fit the theme well) but I wonder if it'd been better to make the beat clear from the music too.
It did get a bit tiresome after a while. I was motivated by wanting to see the next part of the message, but getting a break here and there without risking missing a bunch of words would've been nice. Maybe there could've been a pause every few words. Some downtown to ponder them would've added to the mood too I think.
In a moment of desperation I tried the middle mouse button just to see, but it didn't seem to do anything for me :p Probably for the better tho.
Cool stuff, hope you can get enough ratings in the remaining hours!
Oh boy I was very bad at this. But I found the concept very intriguing, and the gameplay very meditative. Appreciated the dynamic BPM option as well, the little results I had I achieved at half the suggested speed, but the vibes were maybe even nicer there.
A very unique entry, well done!
I had fun and liked the concept. However, it was a little confusing at first.

This is how far I got. Mabye the text can get revealed a bit faster, because it got a bit repetitive after a while. But the music added a nice atmosphere to the game and it was interesting to see the text getting revelead. Nice entry!
Deal, I am trading the last vote for the cat picture, thanks :)
I really like the idea. A tutorial would be nice and shorter messages for sure, but other than that, if it would lead to solving actual puzzle, if there would be a myster you can solve piece by piece or smth, its a really fun concept!
Ok cat pic accepted but I am astonishingly terrible at this game D:
It doesn't seem like it should be that hard! Simple and elegant though -- I appreciate that I can keep trying when I mess up and still sorta guess the message.
