Not much idea what is happening and I am not really sure what I am suppose to do. But the game is looks interesting.

Dam amazing main menu looks like a proper game. Figured out how to play but was a little hard to see what was happening but I can see the cool mechanics you've worked on. Also I love the whole layering system of them moving between layers.
Good idea but too difficult
It's a compo game? Wow!
I really liked the idea of switching between the layers to defend at the same time. But the AI does indeed bug out sometimes, and it sometimes seemed that I spawned my unit on the wrong layer or misjudged on what layer the rats were. However, it's fun to be able to see the enemies running on the different layer ahead of time!

Looks nice, but I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to defend the base. My guys didn't shoot or do anything, and a doctor I placed just kind of glitched, perhaps trying to navigate to the point I clicked?
The multiple layer is a nice idea but in practice it makes the gasme nearly impossible to parse and make smart choices.
Really liked the visuals! Impressive for a compo game. I really liked the sandwich structure of the town and the parallax effect (but it was a little confusing at first). Rats lurking in the sewers were great. But then a just blocked all the enemy paths with flamethrowers :sunglasses:
Some kind of boss battle or the great hoard of rodents in the end would be great (but hard to implement given the time limitations :sweat:)

Great graphics, and the layers was a good touch to a TD. I did have trouble figuring out what to watch for, I couldn't tell if my flamethrowers were moving between layers or if I lost one as I placed another. I've not tried the after LD56 version you've made, so I don't know if you've done this but a basic tutorial (or even a simple level to learn on) may solve this confusion.
I did have the issue with there being no money when I started but it fixed when I went back to the main menu then returned to the game.
