This game is really difficult! But it makes me want to keep playing!

This game is really difficult! But it makes me want to keep playing!
Super difficult game haha. Not gonna lie I gave up after 10 minutes but I did genuinely have fun! Music did fit the gameplay well.
Very difficult indeed, you have to concentrate really hard. Maybe could be nice to have some lives for less fortunate as myself. That said, nice graphics and great music, it really makes the action going!
@dzejpi Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, looking back, having at least 2 lives would have made it much more forgiving. I guess hours of replaying it while developing has affected my perception of how tough it is hahaha
But if anyone does manage to beat the game this way, big respects! (people let me know if you do so haha)
I agree with the others that it's super difficult! I found the enemies were maybe a bit too fast, and it was kinda hard to find the objectives. The graphics are really nice though, especially that main menu background!
This was a challenging but rewarding game! Trying to get just a little bit further collecting more skulls kept me motivated to keep trying. With the game this difficult, it's nice to be able to restart immediately. Nice work!
Really fun and addictive! For me it was difficult when changing direction, if the cursor passes over the player, then the player temporarily pauses, so I think it could possibly be easier even just using arrow keys? But great job!
@gemcc Yeah, I've been playing myself after releasing and only AFTER I notice this haha
I'm still figuring out how to implement different controls in Godot, so yeah, I think an option to have alternative control schemes would be ideal. However, I do think mouse would still feel great if I'd implemented it better (first time having a character folow the cursor, already see room for improvement).
Thanks for playing and feedback everyone!
i agree with the others that it's a difficult game. there's room for improvement on that part.
i actually like that the control is on the mouse, but the drag feels a bit off and makes the game harder.
the main mechanic is fun. the artstyle is cool. music fits really well.
overall, great entry!
Super addictive game because of its difficulty. Nice job bro :)
Thanks to everyone for kind words and feedback!
Also, if you want to get the highest score but restarting takes some time, download the .exe file for Windows. The experience restarting the game is smoother there!
I think I played this too much lol I just can't get past speed 1 upgrade. Had to stop because each time I try again I had to wait 2-3 sec to load and it got a bit annoying, but man the game was so fun! If you develop it further or update it. Please make it playable with arrowkeys or WSAD if possible. I really loved the game! Idk for how long I tried it but I restarted probably like 30 times lol
@worldofmush Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you liked our game so much haha
If retry lag bothers you, try downloading exe file! Only web version has this lag.
About control versions: we'll see if we can do something after this jam to make the gameplay better via small tweaks; stay tuned by following [my itch io](https://risminator.itch.io/) in case we update it there later!
Graphics are great. Very addictive game even though I died within the first 10 seconds for 90% of my runs :S. Really enjoyed it but could ramp up a little bit slower.
Hardcore for hardcore gamers. Not a bad game, exciting music, but alas, I couldn't even collect 10 skulls. Hardcore is interesting, but here it is caused by horribly awkward mouse control, which in my opinion is a mistake. Had the game been just as challenging but with keyboard controls, the experience would have been much better
I found it interesting to force the spinning globes strategy. The fact that the enemies do not have advanced intelligence makes them predictable and therefore it is fun to be able to exploit them.
Difficult, but cool game!
Interesting game! I like it!
Hey! That's game is great! I like a challange you made. After a few plays I got used to movement and I played quite long :) Art and sound are also very nice! I hope other players will understand that's the challange is essential part of your game and will not be angry :) You can chack my game. It's also hard, has less moement challange, but it has strategical one. Thank you for your game!
Very difficult. The most frustrating part is when the warlock pauses for a few milliseconds when you cross him with the cursor.
But honestly, I spent about 20 minutes trying to collect at least two eyes (the second round), and I really enjoyed it
You are really great! The game turned out great!
As many others are saying, it's difficult but it drew me in. Simple controls and a unique way of using them. Graphics/textures feel a little repetitive at times but they fit the mood well. Overall, a fun and challenging game!
I did it! I just wrapped up your game, and you guys are seriously out of this world. You're all rockstar creators, and I raise my virtual hat to you, my friends!
@gemcc @evilgeniusdance @worldofmush @thesecondleft @artemy-zen and for everyone else who liked our game but struggled with controls! Thank you for your feedback, it was indeed a bug and not an intended experience, and we, according to the rules, published mouse control fix, which enables you to control the character without any stutterring and pausing. Available on [itch io page](https://risminator.itch.io/akinos-dungeon) and in downloads here!
this game is really fun to play, kinda hard, but not impossible. I really liked that!
Very difficult to controll the character
its kinda difficult to control, at least in the web version I had to read to understand what I was supposed to do, but not super hard after a few minutes, the enemies get predictable. I kinda like the design of the characters and love the eyed background in the start =)
Both core mechanics and raising an Evil Eye as a pet are amazing!
I found it very difficult, but still fun to play! Good entry!
This game is subtly addictive. I just wish the mouse cursor was hidden and locked. The controls did feel a bit floaty but I think seeing the cursor is what plays it up a lot. The art is really nice!
Amazing game! :3
Wow, this looks great, is addictive but is super super hard! :D I think what makes it hard is that the character controls a bit floaty and our summons are moving around us at the same time. I would definitely enjoy having multiple HP to try and go a bit further, I have reached the Dash only once and died like 5 seconds afterwards ^^
But the game is really cool otherwise. Looks great, the audio fits very well, the gameplay is a good idea as well. Congrats!
Rage inducing game, it is quite a compelling game, but after so many tries I had to give up! It may just be a tad too much on the difficult side, but otherwise the gameplay is almost perfect. Yeah alternate controls would really help!
7162D94287DCAF289CB93BEB5E5190A5.gifAh-ha, so it's you, my "archaeologist." No wonder your avatar seemed familiar to me; I've played your game before, haha~
@drgcandle Still amazed that you beat our game even before bug fix haha. Props to you! It means a lot to us
@risminator Bro, there's no "beat" here; we're just here to enjoy the purest form of gaming and creation, right? If anything sets me apart, it might be that I really relish these post-game social moments, so I might seem a bit "abnormal." But you know what? I kinda like and am used to this "abnormality." And to be honest with you, our game still has many bugs we haven't fixed, some of which affect the design feel of the puzzles in our game. But the good thing is these bugs don't trigger every time. Of course, the main reason we haven't made any changes yet is that our programmer has been sucked into an endless hell of overtime. To me, this person is practically "missing." So, that's that. Fuck overtime, fuck the bosses, fuck business negotiations, fuck marketing ploys. Let all this nauseating stuff go to hell; let's just focus on enjoying the purest form of game creation—that's all I love.
@drgcandle Yeah I understand, I actually meant thath you had finished our game ^^ (got to the end of it), it's impressive considering its difficulty haha (that's how I'd understood "wrapped up" at least)
It reminds me of playing Binding of Isaac while having orbitals. Quite fun. Although I feel the controls would be a lot more precise if it had keyboard controls and not mouse. That may also just be me being bad with the mouse though.
Really cool, the global ambiance works ver well. Love the music, great job !
I like the music and the art assets. The game is too darn difficult though. Not having any health combined with the mouse controls really punishes players. Played for fifteen minutes, farthest I got was Akino lvl1 4/5 skulls. If the controls were WASD or the enemies were a little slower, I would have kept pressing forward, as I wanted to see my demon transform.
Very nice idea!! Its very addicting not gona lie. The only issue is balance - in my opinion monsters appear pretty fast from edges so i have no time for reaction when im heading towards a skull. Overall great job!
I really liked the sprites and graphics, very unique! I managed to get a couple of upgrades, but unfortunately kept dying to the very fast wolves. Cool take on a vampire survivors-like, well done!
holy shit this is hard... but what an awesome game! from the graphics to the gameplay loop, the goal, everything is really well designed!
I thought the idea was cool, but the game's way too hard because you die instantly. After the first 5 skulls there's a huge difficulty increase which was killed me the most. Maybe you could pick up hearts to regain health you've lost?
Finally got to reply to the comments I hadn't replied to before!
@hugimugi7 @odinvii @thesmellofoxygen @sariiger @congusbongus @linky439 @chibiata @rendow @oznarox @smidgens Yes, unfortunately, before the submission and massive playtest it's easy to underestimate the difficulty as a developer and my biggest mistake here that I'm thinking a lot about (especially the lvl 1 wolves). After the voting period ends, I'm considering a release of the "Revisit Update" to this game on itch.io with alternative controls and smoother learning curve! Don't know about HP though, it may be an option!
@liu-pa-yueh @thehumanspooder @james-7777 @pres2300 @scoobydoo and others that I've already replied to (don't want to ping more than 1 time haha): thank you very much for your early comments, it means a lot to us! It gave us more motivation to improve further and learn from our mistakes (and really made our days)!
@hazard-game-dev @mado-mado-bones @meranolean @magik8bal @velvetlobster @nsadie It warms my heart that you (and other people that I've already relpied to) kept on playing this game even though it was so difficult in this version!
@chiara-sanviti It's always nice to see when people find such fun strategies to progress further, it really is the best way to battle the steep learning curve right now haha
@kirass (you've even written twice haha!) @yopin @denismarasan @dams333 Thank you for your kind words!!
I hope I didn't miss anyone I hadn't replied to yet! I've checked out all of your people's games, they are great (going to rate & comment to the games of people who just commented soon)!! Keep up the good work! I'm truly inspired by your entries. Hope there are people who are interested in this game after this jam. If you are, consider following us and our game at [itch io](https://risminator.itch.io/akinos-dungeon)!
I really enjoy the skulls orbiting around my character but with the precision demanded for this style of game, I am yearning for WSAD. While the mouse movement X/Y position can add speed via its coordinates, the lack of precise turning really hurts the experience IMO.
Adding a health bar or block would probably help quite a bit! Even though I was a bit frustrated by the controls, I still played 10+ times to see how far I could get. :) Well played. :P
Looks like speed-version of bullet-hell games. And yeah it's difficult:") Maybe need to configure colliders hmm:/
I died a lot. Way too difficult! Please give us more HP, show more of the screen and make the enemies a bit slower. The first upgrade was the reason I died multiple times as well, because enemies were close and suddenly I have only 1 orb instead of 5-6... Fast enemies often showed up from outside the screen giving me almost no chance to react, too.
Edit: it does seem fun btw! Just needs that hp bar to be more enjoyable imo!
@aviv-levy If I could change one thing that wasn't a bug in this game, it would certainly be the speed boost for enemies at the first upgrade. If it weren't for the rules, I'd have certainly removed that and made other changes to the balance. I do think that the game needs to be more lenient in difficulty, and imo the best way is not to rely on HP to make it easier to hide the design mistakes but to introduce the balance changes that let the player react to the challenges that arrive. And the changes that you propose are certainly some of those I'm seriously considering to do after the voting period when it's allowed! An option to have more HP, though, is an idea I think is great for different people to have.
Thank you for the feedback!
@yanato colliders? Hm, I don't think I've encountered any problems with them. But it may appear this way because of the wolves' speed after the first upgrade. Thanks for playing!!
@trevor-lentz Ah, now I see what people mean by floaty controls and how that feels that way. Thank you for your input here and the determination in your play!
Pretty good and compelling game, kept restarting over and over as I wanted to see the later levels but never made it after Akino level 1 sadly. I think that the level of difficulty is just right for this kind of game though. The only thing I'd change is the zoom level, as seeing enemies coming a little bit before could help in avoiding to smash right into them.
@tommy It's interesting to see that people see the difficulty of our game differently. But it certainly wasn't by design that the game made the most people stay at Akino lvl 1, it should be more challenging at later stages and less so at the first ones. So that's an oversight. Yeah, considering the zoom, but gotta figure out how to do that while not making everything too small. Thank you!
Very challenging game; it seems like it would be easier to control the character with a keyboard or gamepad. Also, due to the equal speed of enemies and the main character, sometimes you can let an enemy get so close that you can never escape, and the rotating projectiles don't kill them. And perhaps giving the player a bit more visibility of enemies earlier on would help. But it was fun spending time in the game, excellent job, very engaging!
