Very good game!
EDIT: Okay, the superhighway to the grandma's house appears complete but I can't seem to go into it.
Nice game, didn't get to the bottom of it thou (due to knife wolfs reviving, apparently). Does the night end at some point? Or must you return to the cabin? Didn't understand how to light torches (I placed them, they weren't burning). How long does it take for berry bushes to grow? I like that other players can influence the game :).
Really cool that you managed to implement the "strand-like" mechanic during a game jam. Well done!
pretty ambitious to build this in a weekend :) days are very short IMO...as a new player, I think I would have preferred longer days, you barely figure out what's going on and then it's pitch black night time already :D
That is the first strand type game I have ever played during LDJAM xD It really seems like a cool idea, finding a ladder already attached to wall, while wolves were chasing me, made me really appreciate whoever placed it there before lol
Great job!
Really like the concept of seeing the effects of other players actions so you can help each other out. The graphics, lighting effects and music were cool too. Nice job :)
The shared world mechanic is super cool, and works so well here! However, the nighttime forces you to go back home every time, either by dying or by walking back to sleep. And in this case, dying is usually quicker since you then only have to walk back to where you were, but has no further penalty..
Glad you liked the game @labete, but for future reference the night never ends, torches need to be refueled with other torches (just press Z again with torch selected), and berry bushes need to be watered/fed/grown the same way. Hope that helps!

Glad everyone is enjoying the torches!
@ruruie Unfortunately we didn't have time to actually implement grandma's house :frowning2:
But here is grandma's sprite as a reward:
grandma-export.png
We were just going to have a very short cutscene of her congratulating you, and then the next day would begin as if you had slept.
A lot of the vertical path directly down was me running back and forth repeatedly once I realized I could make a road appear.
This is pretty top.
Interesting little game, having what other players do take an effect on everyone's world has always interested me. I feel like the sprinting made the game a bit too easy, and I thought I could cut down the normal trees but I guess not haha. Well done!
That's an interesting game. I really like the fact that you need to build your way step by step with torches and ladders, to reach your grandmother's house. Plus that other players can help you indirectly through their play. It feels a bit like Nier Automata where you can sacrifice yourself to help others as well (except you aren't sacrificing yourself haha)
Here are some points I listed : - The hotkeys aren't very intuitive. If you play with WASD, it looks like they are all mixed up around the movement key, and with some keys doing the same action (Z and F, and why is Y alone over there?). If you play with arrow keys, I guess the keys are Z,X,C for actions. So i guess it's more playable with arrow keys. (Although i have Azerty keyboard, so I still had a hard time to get used to it) - We need to use 2 torches to light up a new torch. That's a bit...weird? or maybe that's just me. I understand it is used to fuel up as well but I would have thought that when you place a new torch, it would light up by default. And then, if the light goes off, you can use 1 torch to fuel it back. As we start with 4 torches each time we go back to our house, by doing this way, it would avoid the player to go back and forth to the house every 2 new torches he places. (More convenient ?)
Fun things I saw : - The brown deer (or fox?) looks like they are holding a rifle at the top of their head, and they shoot at you while chasing you ! - I don't know why but after a few days, there is big yellow spot near the entrance of our house. I think it's because there are a lot of torches at the same place. :spy_tone2: My guess is that a lot of players tested out the torch at this place and they are all appearing at this place throughout the run. But it actually helped me to know where is the house when the game was going dark.
On overall, that's a good game. I'd like to put bushes everywhere on the map for other players now hahaha.
Good job on this one ! :tada:
I'm so glad you guys liked it @ruruie, @chartle, and @GCake! Did you find the deer that you can use the force on?
@xxatrain223 I have not spotted the deer, no! I do remember seeing what I thought was a GunFox moving extremely fast though. I thought that it might've been a glitch but maybe it was that?
Pretty cool, I couldn't try the online mode because I played the WebGL version but it surely has lots of potential. Definitely the most original way of bringing "Deeper and deeper" to life in a videogame I've seen. Nicely done!
@goldenpalazzo, the WebGL version should let you connect online, let us know if you have any connection issues and what errors you hit if you hit any.
@wiredoverload ok nevermind this time works. Perhaps I waited for too little time. Dummy me! Just a little feedback: it would be clearer if you added some kind of dialogue box informing the player that the game is trying to communicate with the game server.
Looks funny! Especially laughed at the armed animals XD. At first I could not figure out how to use the items, but then I figured it out and went through. Good game!
Very cool game! I love how you can see what other players did in the level, it was very hard at first to know how to use the items like NinjaCatz said, but in the end you use them correctly! Props for the crazy animals of the night!
AWesome work
Ah how unfortunate that I can't launch session from my house. I tried two computers but you propably use the global IP. That was a shame because I really want to see the game play. Good Job.
I love your game! Somehow I have a weakspot for those kind of games that implement some kind of backend that makes sure that players have some kind of interaction. It makes the game feel alive
The music is relaxing and the graphics remind me of the olden days
Everything was good, but the HTML5 version's audio is scuffed as hell. I also really like how the game is "online" in a sense, neat addition!
Sorry about that @billnotic, some versions of Chrome have issues playing the music, we haven't had that issue in FireFox or with the native clients.
Cool game! Really enjoyed it. Making it online was a cool decision and way beyond what you would expect from a jam game made over the weekend. Intuitively I expected being able to jump down cliffs and and use the ladder to climb back up, but that might only be from playing Zelda. Besides, it would make it really easy to escape the gun foxes (haha!). My only grief was the slightly complicated controls that didn't feel super intuitive. A very solid effort and a really good game! Good job!
Ambitious concept -- don't think I've seen a jam game with multiplayer aspects like this before. I went to bed one night and woke up to this: red stranding.png
Getting some good old Zelda vibes from this :D Was about to comment on the audio, but i see previously that it seems to be a chrome issue.
This was a really solid entry other than that!
Really ambitious, zelda mood, online, different items and mechanics, well done! I really appreciate that the game is balanced between sounds, visuals, gameplay, level design even if it could be better with more feedback on enemies specifically. But it's a really impressive job for a jam!
Hello ! I tried the offline version and really enjoyed it. Love the light effects. Well done.
Played the offline version. Like the graphics and the music. Nice implementation of the theme. Good job.
Good job this must have been hard to make in 3 days! Ambitious to build online features, good work, I had loads fun playing it!

Good itea, I think sprint when not press shift will be better and add some introduction on item. Ladder is too litter, I used all ladder on forward, then can not find other ladder tree except the final house...
Unfortunately couldn't play the online version, so had to try offline, so hard to find all the sticks for ladders >.
@magnanix Sorry about that! Sometimes the server sleeps a bit too hard if nobody plays for a while. If you reload and try again, it *should* let you in. I'll try to make it a bit more reliable. Thanks for playing!
Interesting concept to say the least! Congrats for your entry
I love it!! I've been playing the game for who knows how long because I was having so much fun! Sadly I haven't won yet because I ran out of ladders even though I tried to get as many as possible, but it was definitely a great experience to play this. I'm in love with the graphics, the music and sounds are perfect, the concept is great and most of all, it's super fun.
Thank you for creating this game!
It's always fun to see semi-multiplayer entries. Great take on the theme too. I personally found that obtaining ladders was too hard. Other than that, I really enjoyed this entry, even though I was unable to get to the end!
Excellent game, I liked the principle, even if it is sometimes a little complicated to implement.
The graphics are very good and the music too, the online play mode is also very interesting.
Congratulations !
Excellent jeu, j'ai bien aimé le principe, même s'il est parfois un peu compliqué à mettre en oeuvre.
Les graphismes sont très bien et la musique aussi, le mode de jeu en ligne est également très intéressant.
Félicitations !
Wooow congrats on this, pretty ambitious scope and you nailed it!
