Honestly really cool!! Feels like this was made more for the Cartography prompt than the Depths one haha. Great job, love how you can download your creation at the end!
Here's my map (spoilers below): [dungeon-map.png](///raw/fbd/21/z/6b049.png)
cool game
@ordineu Haha I actually didn't remember there that Cartography was an option. Thank you for playing and posting your map!

The graphics were nice for a moody little dungeon experience I will say the way the torch and map hovered and lagged behind the camera didn't feel great

I liked the ambience a lot, with the chains and creaking door sounds. But I felt I did not have a large enough piece of paper to draw lol.
Great work! Love the concept and I enjoyed the execution. Definitely would enjoy a larger game based around this idea.

The models and SFX ,which occurred when I found a new room, in the game catches me a lot!
But I think maybe you can give players some more tips when we can't find the right way in the maze? Or give player a map that can record the aisle and room which have been to , in order to avoid too much repetition!
Overall,it's a nice GAME!!!

Awesome and atmospheric game! Those red eyes staring from the darkness totally got me!💀
Here's my map: [dungeon-map.png](https://static.jam.host//raw/41a/36/z/6b4b0.png)
Awesome game, I would add a small mechanic of lighting one of the fires in each room to light it up. I think it might give the player something to do rather than just walking around. And I suck at drawing, it looked like a 3 yr old drew my map

Cool idea, but mapping was frustrating without guides. Please add a grid or 'You Are Here' marker to the notes!

@leofiremage The lighting the torches would have been a great idea! Ah well, I'm sure the map wasn't that bad haha
Always loved to draw paper maps in any dungeon crawler type of game im usually playing, now i can do it inside the game, Nicely done! Btw the art is good!

This was interesting and I was a bit too invested in it xD Would love to see more levels to draw!

@nef1k Nice! Would love to see your map :D
I loved this game! (I was the one who submitted Cartography as a theme though so im a little biased)
I wish that the pencil tool wasnt as thick and also would have liked for some keybinds like "E" to select the Eraser or something. I found there were a few times where i accidentally had the eraser tool selected and deleted large portions of my map.
I started out being pretty meticulous about making a nice map, but by the end after having erased my map on accident 2-3 times I was kinda just going quickly.
Really enjoyed the game though!

Very cool and unique concept for this theme! I had a lot of fun exploring and drawing my map. If you plan to expand on this game, I would suggest some quality of life improvements, like adjusting pencil and eraser size, keyboard shortcuts for the tools, support for drawing tablets (mine didn't let me lift the pen), ability to rotate the map, having the torch and map not be so in the center of the camera, so the player has better visibility, etc. I could see this concept being expanded into more difficult levels, like with secret entrances or rooms that change place, maybe a deeper backstory to the dungeon that you discover through the map! Overall awesome game!
I really enjoyed the idea of this game, mapping out a dungeon and whatnot. The environment and feel of the dungeon was awesome, and I had fun trying to sketch out the twists and turns of the map. (Sidenote: it would be sooo cool if this had procedural generation for replayability, although I know that 3 days is NOT enough time to implement this)
My main gripe with the game is this: I started my map in the center of the paper, and immediately ran out of space once I got to the kitchen, in the bottom right. I figured out that the selection tool exists (which is an awesome way to fix this issue), but when I selected my map it got cleared!

Not too shabby if I say so myself xD
I really enjoyed this, it's a mechanic I've been wanting to add to a game for a long time! Would love to have to "prove" that my map is correct by having to answer questions about the layout or something. Still, had fun with this, nice job!

This is a great concept! It's kind of a small detail, but I really appreciated the selection tool - like some other people, I ran out of room and had to adjust my map later on. I felt like the dungeon was pretty small, but it was interesting to explore.

Nice, I got completely lost at some point, and it would be nice to have the name of the few named rooms keep popping up on screen (and not just the first time you see them) as a way to get back on track
In the end I stopped drawing the map because I have a good enough sense of orientation to not need it :p The game in nice, fits perfectly for a cartography theme. I found some bugs in the map drawing, but other that that the drawing experience was very smooth so that's good. I think I would have preferred not having the map in front of me when moving though the dungeon to better appreciate the mood and the exploration. All in all it's a fun experience :)

Interesting concept! As I was playing I was hoping there was some end-game based on how well you drew your map.
@chybby Did you back to the end where you can compare your map with the masters map?

2025-04-09 13:13
@finntastico Yeah I did, I guess I was thinking something like @keithswanger's idea or some kind of timed challenge. Automatically scoring your map based on the image would probably be too hard to do for the jam :P
@chybby Haha maybe, we thought about having some automatic evaluation. But we decided it's maybe enough if we just let people download and share their maps. Time-based challenge was def also on the map (pun intended).

When I made full circle back to the dining room and looked at my map I went like "HOW THE FUCK DID I GET HERE?". 10/10 awesome game and awful cartography skills!! [dungeon-map.png](///raw/bf5/d2/z/6bb99.png)

Such an awesome concept! I really enjoyed the mechanics and could easily see this as a larger game. It’s also super impressive that it was made with JavaScript.
Can you guess which map is made by the artist (@catlord) vs the programmer (me) ?? mapgamemap.png
Really atmospheric, I didn't see much purpose to drawing on the map so I didn't really draw on it and just kept exploring the enviroments. Loved the little mystery jingle when you discover a new location, it adds to the overall feel. I really enjoyed exploring and wish there was more interesting things to discover or more of a story, but that's just personal preference. Kind of a shame I didn't really use the map feature, but I went with was natural to me as a player.
Great job!!
@xwilq Haha thank you for posting this! One of those maps is def the most beautiful map we saw so far! I am not making any assumptions about who made which one ;)
Screenshot_1.png Damn bros, they will kick me from the guild
really like the map draw feature, i wish i could do smth with it in the game

Very nice concept ! I began to draw the map and then feel like I could rely on my own judgment to finish the exploration as there are quite a few recognisable spots in the different area :) This concept could be nice with a more complex layout also I think ! It was a bit complex on a non-QWERTY keyboard as keys were mapped on value instead of location, but it was worth the hassle !
@scoobysnacks how is you map identical to mine? Cheater! I watched the game on the stream btw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCbuh9WZHdA

Loved the concept right away. I gave up with the map pretty quickly though and after exploring the rooms I just drew myself burning in a [brazen bull](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazen_bull) as I figured that's probably what's happening to me once the king sees my map.

Such a cool little game, had a lot of fun exploring, the low poly aesthetic with the torch to light your way just feel really nice:) P.S. I hope you're keeping track of the TTP as you should in every game that has a free draw mechanic (if you know you know haha)

Nice idea! I wonder if that's possible to check eventual map a player made for mistakes, or make something depend on it. Great atmosphere and sounds!
@kuboi From what I know the TTP was 14 hours haha
i like the idea! new spin for sure, presets like stamps for quick shapes would be nice

This is a unique idea and i like seeing my own map drawing. I do think that the map should either be placed much lower on the screen when exploring or be allowed to be completely hidden when exploring. I'd say that was the biggest thing that hindered the gameplay for me. Otherwise, I really like the idea.
I did my best lol, and it's a working map somehow. Really cool take on a exploring game you can draw on a map and see it in a 3D game. Great stuff I enjoy that! dungeon-map.png

I loved this game. The visuals are amazing, the level design is pretty cool and the mechanic is so unique. This is one of those games that reinforce my love for game jams. It's simple, but so engaging and fun. Congrats on your work! Also, thanks for the tool to find web games
Super cool concept that definitely should be expanded upon, really impressed! well done!
Really interesting concept!
I had very bad performance issues on my laptop, so couldn't play it in real conditions...
Good job!
cool concept, but I got through it without a map)

Nice idea, I also played without drawing a map. It would have been nice to be able to hide the map so I could admire the environment without it getting in the way. I also wanted to be able to light the torches in the room because everything was a bit too dark. Almost missed the treasury but found it eventually. Some actual reason to draw an acceptable map would have been ideal, though I have no idea how that could be implemented.

I thought this was a great idea, I love maze games and thought that mapping was a good impetus to explore around, so it's like this was made for me. Only I think the torch may have been bugging out or something, the fire was flickering in a way that made it hard for me to look at the screen (I do also have weak eyes), so sadly I couldn't finish.
If you kept polishing/developing this game I would 100% buy and play it though.

Really nice entry - I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the dungeon on my own, actually enjoyed that there were no hints.
Maybe the torch could have been slightly brighter, but I guess medivel torches aren't that advanced
