Unfortunately I couldn't get the file to open properly :/ Look forward to playing if it gets fixed though!

Took a while to get exports working, itchio and dropbox (windows) work the best, and LDJAM seems to squish the game.
Cool!
The idea of the game seems pretty cool, but even after reading the instructions I was still a bit confused in how the game played.
I like the idea. Really mixing two game types together, it feels. It was really hard for me to figure out if I was helping or hurting things. I can tell that a lot went into the petri dish simulation.
Hey thanks for trying the game! Something that may help you make sense of the petri-dish scene is that "SHIFT" displays the detection range of each microorganism, while "CTRL" shows the 'action order' of each micro-organism within its sub-group (plants act first - the food producers, then bacteria, then viruses, then fungi spores).
The card design and turn-based mechanics are great! Everything runs really smoothly and it's super cool.
Super creative game and lovely graphics! The balancing might be a bit off; it seems pretty easy to win but that's a small issue and the game is really cool.
There was definitely a disconnect between what I understood the rules to be based on the instructions, and what the rules actually were, but once I got over that hump and figured things out it was a cool game! Aside from the on-boarding experience, I had an especially confusing first game because the board spawned with no fungi at all, which meant it was just viruses and bacteria duking it out - You might want to make sure that there are limits on what the initial board can spawn :)
Really fun game, maybe my favorite that I've seen so far. Unfortunately, it seemed to break after some time, and the petri dish was a blank gray screen. I played the web version.
haha, really funky mixing of two completly different things, but in a very nice coherent artstyle!
@kirby-borgir It is an easy game as the AI is quite simplistic (it is meant to be a player vs player game but AI was implemented for the sake of play testing)
@koolruz Thanks for playing, the petri dish is randomly generated - sometimes you just get unlucky and either no viruses, plants, or fungi spawn :slight_frown:
I like the music :)
That was a very unique game, but idk if it's very fair. Every time I played, bacteria always got first place by a lot. The only time virus didn't get third place was when literally zero fungi spawned lol. Also idk if I understood the scoreboard, but it seems like if there's a tie, the player wins... which was fortunate for me because I tied a lot.
At one point I tried to help the viruses win by using my cards, but that didn't seem like a very effective strategy, so viruses still got third place. Also, I won again even though I bet viruses would rank first? I guess the AI bets were wrong too?
Anyways, it's a very interesting entry. I had fun with it, good job :)
@ale Thanks for playing! Bacteria are very strong while they have a constant source of food so its important to isolate them (if you're going for a virus victory). Though admittedly that's not easy as their detection radius is a bit too high
Very interesting idea, the game starts a bit too fast with things happening and cameras rotating, which was confusing at first but I got the hang of it. What I never understood was the scoring system, shouldn't I be predicting who will win? and if so, wouldn't this make me the winner? Untitled.jpg
@alextagtal Hahaha the scoreboard was the last thing we implemented after a "sprint to the finish line" all nighter. We clearly got the math wrong. You won!
What an interesting concept and good execution overall. I was a little lost when I first started, and the "how it works" helped some, but it really just took a few playthroughs to get the hang of it. Simple and fun! I really like that you made a simulation as part of the game. Great work!
An interesting idea, a combination of a card game and micro-battles. Cozy atmosphere in the game, nicely decorated!
That is quite original and creative idea. It was a bit confusing even with the instructions. Maybe some in-game hints would help. Other than that I like that the concept feels fresh. Great entry! :D
This was fun, and I think it's a really interesting concept.
I think it could have used a little more balance at times - it seemed like Bacteria always got 1st no matter what - I was thinking that maybe having multiple species of bacteria could help, or something? Either way, I had about the same problems as the other comments, and I thought the core design of the game seemed really clever and interesting, and I enjoyed playing.
