I like blocky graphics, reminds me of roblox days.Cool game overall. Took me a few tries to get the bridge to work. I think you have to stand further away from it to work.

Cool idea to use different bugs for different purpose, but I could not create the bride, the insects are just falling down. I tried for like 15 min, but could not make it. How does it work?

tenshi42 2024-10-08 21:08

@tasostagtal Thanks ! Yeah, thoses bug definitelly havec bugs ... ^^' I saw it to late and did not manage to fix it in time. @kevin-meissner You have to Hold the 'E' key, and have enough creatures !

非常棒的创意,很遗憾只有一个关卡It's a fantastic idea, wish to have more levels.

cam-moore 2024-10-12 15:36

The sounds from the creatures reminded me of Pikmin and almost the concept with building/destroying things. I liked it:)

Nice game. The art style is cool! The concept is interesting. Not sure if this is intended, but reseting puts you at max bugs right at the start, so it feels a bit broken. I'm not sure if having to hover something with the mouse to interact with it is really necessary. I would have prefer it to be toggle when just being close to the bug/element, but maybe that's just me :) Also, the mouse in the hub is way too sensitive imo haha

But overall nice game, I wish I could see more levels. Good job! :)

Really clever use of bugs as the tiny creatures, I love that they each had a purpose and I could imagine building lots of interesting puzzles with this system.

In order to cross the bridge I had to only use 1 stick-bug to make the ladder and then use all 4 to make the bridge. Which I think that's a clever level design, but I would save that for a later level once the player better understands the basics.

One improvement would be adding a restart button for the level. In a finished game I would expect there to also be a "death floor" in the water that automatically restarts the level.

Great entry!

@cam-moore Thanks for playing ! I never actually played Pikmin, but I think it's the "tyny creature" things that forece this feeling. @axodo Thanks ! I was partially intended to avoid being stuck (in later level ideas). I also think that the mouse usage could have been different, which will allow full controller usage. @tobius Thanks a lot ! A friend of mine said me the same thing for the "understand the basics" levels that could be made.

I like how the first interaction teaches how to interact with objects in the world.

Nice idea with using bugs to help traverse the level. Shame there is only the one level. I struggled a bit with the bridge but got there eventually.

@tenshi42 you should be really proud of this! It was genuinely fun, I couldn't help but smile. I think the idea of using bugs to overcome obstacles is really neat. You already had different types of bugs with clear uses, and I can see there being many more.

Like others have said, there was an issue with starting the bridge too close and triggering their fall. Maybe wait until the player stops holding the button, or add more of a delay before they fall.

Obviously, there were some issues with state persistence also (restarting the level, but no more bugs, but the total counts still going up). Think about what data should be global (persistent) and what should be local (transient). Add some methods that handle resetting necessary data when a level loads. With a bit more formal practice, your implementations will be less buggy :) Keep going!

The core idea of the puzzles is so smart and charming! It's really cool how essential the theme is and it was genuinely satisfying to solve the bridge puzzle. For critique, the external world could could've been completely cut. The camera was so sensitive that it made me feel a bit ill and it didn't add anything to this version of the product. In the end, I also wonder if a Wizard really is the best player character for us to invest in. It didn't feel like this was about spells. Maybe some sort of nature coded person or druid? In any case, awesome job!

good

tenshi42 2024-10-13 08:47

@hawkin Thanks a lot ! The state persitence is buged due to last hours modifications that I didn't get the time to truelly test. @indie-game-academy The external was supposed to be a Hub for level selections, but the levels order would not be linear, and levels would sometime not be finished in a sigle entrance, but with the help of creatures from another level.

hawkin 2024-10-13 09:09

@tenshi42 I know the feeling 😹 I had a rushed hack fix in the last 5 minutes for almost the same thing.

indie-game-academy 2024-10-13 12:28

@tenshi42 Very cool! Just reacting to the game we see here :D I hope you keep building it out.

babygirl2005 2024-10-14 22:52

I absolutely adore it. Good job and keep going!

phyrocast 2024-10-21 09:17

Nice concept! I think the different bugs being used differently is a neat idea! Although the combination of mouse pointing and keyboard click felt a little off to me, since I wasn't sure at first how to interact and didn't know how to pick up bugs! Also the number of bugs collected in the inventory doesn't reset when restarting the level, but that doesn't affect the gameplay. Good job!

jcourt 2024-10-22 08:11

To preface this, I may have gotten unlucky or just messed something up - I didn't seem to be able to get past the first level, even though it felt like I completed it at least once.

I had a lot of trouble getting the bugs to work (especially the second type that builds the bridge and ladder), but when they did work I thought they were a really clever game mechanic. The building ones locking together to make the things felt really fun, even if climbing the ladder and controlling the player felt a bit awkward.

Also the background music is stuck in my head now.

firefalls 2024-10-23 00:41

I like this game concept a lot! The camera work from 3d to 2d was interesting, though I didn't get far enough into the game to see if that was expanded upon. I got stuck trying to make the bridge on the first level. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get across, despite having all five ants. Apart from that though, I really enjoyed this!

jesse-martin 2024-10-23 00:43

I never could get past the first level, but I really liked the art the music was good if a little repetitive, and I think the concept is really expandable
