LD46 — Keep it alive

Firekeeper by someoneman 2020-05-05T14:08:47Z

Interesting game! The idea is cool, but the items are really small and clicking on them can be tricky. Although, there's no win condition (or maybe there is, I couldn't get to it if there was one) and so it's really just surviving as long as you can, and since the game gets harder as you progress, it can get pretty hectic. I wish there were more things to do in the game though, but that's ok because this was made in only 48 hours. Still, nice job!

Call of Planty by zirconcode 2020-05-11T16:10:07Z

Very surreal! The artstyle kinda reminds me of RedPilotSun. I like the concept, but it's really simple. I wish there was more to do than just watering the plant and shooting/batting occasionally, but three days to make a game isn't a lot of time. Still, the graphics are rad and the music is cool, nice work!

The Vending Machine by wrexialmt 2020-05-05T14:27:36Z

The concept is cool, trying to keep a weed vending machine on, but man... this is really boring. I really like how you guys went for a non-gameplay approach, how it's more of an experience than a game (kinda like LSD Simulator... kinda), but things should happen a lot faster. Sitting and waiting for colors to turn gray isn't fun, exciting, or really interesting, especially when it takes a really long time for the later buttons to change.

Still, I love the idea. You, some random dude, is put in charge of keeping a literal weed vending machine from turning off. In order to make things a little more interesting, I have some ideas: - First of all, the weed effects (if there are any...) should happen at around 5-10 goodies, so it'll help keep the player engaged. - Maybe make the game a 3D first person game, and as you get more goodies, you'll hallucinate tons of weird stuff and be able to walk through weird worlds! - Maybe ditch the "keep it alive" gimmick (in a post-jam version) and make it an super weird exploration experience.

Those are just my thoughts on it, and I really like the concept, but the execution was very bland and boring. Also, it needs audio, the effects it can have on the mood of the game is crazy. Anyway, good luck in the jam!

Grass Yourself by grena 2020-05-05T13:57:03Z

This was pretty fun! Managing your grass and making it look good was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and while it can be frustrating at times to get rid of all of the moles, once you do, it feels great. Definitely one of my favorite games this jam, very nice job!

Helicopter M.O.M. by Evan Minto 2020-04-23T14:51:18Z

Cool game! The concept and the graphics are great, and I like how M.O.M tells him to when to jump, that was a nice touch. Good work!

Also, don't forget to play other people's games! :)

A Guy and his Princess by neowhoru 2020-04-23T15:01:04Z

A nice short game! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to kill enemies at first, maybe it could have been stated in the intro, but other than that I liked it! Good job!

My Friend Phil by Conroy 2020-04-21T21:59:29Z

Good game! The fish-throwing mechanic was pretty cool, and the water physics were well done. The enemy placements were a little tricky, but I guess that was the point. Nice work!

Ignitus Dead Paw - The Revenge by Nerzal 2020-04-21T20:30:44Z

The graphics are great, but I found myself getting stuck on the levels due to weird collision. Other than that, I thought the story and the characters were cool! Nice game!

Dryad by xfinktion 2020-05-07T13:57:35Z

Solid game! I like the idea of combining tower defense with a top down shooter, it's pretty cool. The game was really easy, but all the enemies were pretty unique, so that was nice. Also, I thought that the camera was a little too zoomed in, but that's just me. Overall, nice job!

Feed the Fire by Benjamin123 2020-05-06T02:33:03Z

The fire, player, and enemies all look pretty cool! The upgrade system was nice, too, but I wished there were some sounds though. Otherwise, great game!

Dino spin by relixes 2020-04-21T22:16:39Z

This game was rad! Everything felt very polished and the egg physics felt really good. Nice job!

Cactus Marathon by wormius 2020-04-23T14:33:36Z

I like it! It's a cool idea, basically a reverse tower-defense game, but instead of keeping them away you help them get to the goal. It's a good length, not too long but not too short either, but I have some suggestions. - The final boss felt a little slow, but then he sped up a lot after I gave him coffee, so that was cool. - I noticed that none of the waters or coffees despawned. In this case it isn't that bad because they're only sprites, but still it could lead to a lot of lag.

Otherwise, cool game!

Tough without friends by miroreflect 2020-04-23T15:14:34Z

I can also confirm the game works on Mac, and this game was really interesting! The graphics look great, but the game is really tough. The guy is super fast, and since you have to put back the items he uses at a slower speed, it can get pretty hard and chaotic, especially if you don't know where he is. Still, it's a great game with a great concept, nice job!

Catch the Worm by Sprotex 2020-04-30T14:31:23Z

Cool game! It's pretty easy, but the concept was well executed. Also the models look pretty nice! (especially the worm, lol) Although, I have to admit that some of the controls got a little weird. I thought maybe right mouse could be both to get worms and feed the little birds instead of E, but that's just me.

It's impressive that you were able to implement a tutorial too! Good work!

Keep "IT" Alive by RoboDoig 2020-04-21T20:41:07Z

This is probably the best take on "Keep it alive" I've been in this jam so far. The concept was really cool! Although, I thought some of the sounds were a little scary, especially the buzz when you mess up a word. Still, this is a rad game! If there was a mobile version I bet it would be popular.

Compfire by ysopprod 2020-05-10T16:51:33Z

Cool game! The gameplay is solid, and the controls feel good, and the graphics look great! Although, I wish there was more of a challenge, because running around grabbing wood got a little stale. The only part I had trouble with was finding the fire after wandering too far away. Still, good work!

Embers by Barelos 2020-05-08T22:43:48Z

Nice game! I was confused at first, but I got the hang of it quickly. Picking up the wood was tough though, since the hit-boxes were tiny. Other than that, it felt satisfying putting wood into the fire and watching it glow, and the characters and textures were well drawn. Also, there were a couple of typos through the story, but it isn't that big of a deal. Good work!

KEEP IT ALIVE by yy404 2020-04-21T20:55:34Z

This game is pretty addictive! Although, my only problem with it is that the black cubes can trap the player, which can lead to waiting for a game over. Maybe there could be some kind of a jump mechanic? Otherwise, cool game!

Levain - My needy friend by Karas 2020-04-21T21:29:44Z

Good game! The concept is pretty cool, and it's pretty easy to beat, so that's nice. Also the main theme is poppin. Nice job!

A tale of Rebirthism by Pomo 2020-04-23T19:29:45Z

Super solid game! I thought it was too easy at first, but I quickly ate my words. The dialog was my favorite part, and the music choice fit the game really well. Sadly the final level was too tricky for me, but nice job on the game!

Cacophony: The Ballad of the Celestial Goblin-King by Renikor 2020-04-21T20:14:56Z

Cool game! At first I wondered why I was dying so quickly, but then I realized I didn't have the sword equipped. The random-gen is a nice touch too! I wish I was able to get further in it though, I keep running out of nutrition.

Egg Bounce by SteelySam 2020-04-23T02:46:10Z

It's really tough, but it kept me playing for a few rounds. It reminds me of one of the minigames from New Super Mario Bros: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzWqV9p2vTM Good game!

CaveFlame by Pretzol 2020-04-21T21:14:02Z

@studiocurtis Thanks for playing! I just added a controls section in the description, thanks for that! I can see why it can be hard to navigate through, I probably should have had more visual cues and clarified how to exit rooms and stuff. Thanks for the feedback!

CaveFlame by Pretzol 2020-04-25T15:00:15Z

@yy404 Sorry about fullscreen, I didn't really think about that. Thanks for playing anyways!

CaveFlame by Pretzol 2020-04-27T15:20:29Z

@matootsy Thank you for playing! The pipe's use is that, if there is an enemy in that room, you can hit the pipe on the wall to scare it away. I've noticed that a lot of people are getting confused, so I'm going to make a quick gameplay video to hopefully clear some of it up.

edit: Finished! Here's the vid: https://youtu.be/3N-DAnsrDlU

Breakout / Life by liffon 2020-04-23T14:40:47Z

It's a neat game! It's a little easy to win (or lose, it said game over), but the idea could be really cool. Maybe the bricks could change over time and not only when you hit them? Still, it's a solid breakout clone.

Also, don't forget to play other people's games! :)
