LD46 — Keep it alive

Zealotry by TevasLiutauras 2020-04-21T20:11:28Z

In my opinion, what stands out most about Zealotry is both its graphics and its unique approach to the theme. Essentially, you are keeping alive Ben'dover, a weakened demon-king, by feeding him the souls of local villagers. However, you must also keep these villages prosperous (not take too many villagers from one village) so that they continue to mate and therefore provide the demon king with a food supply.

I honestly love the idea of game, and could see myself spending a lot of time with it in the future. I think that this is one of those unique submissions that a) feels like a game that can already be called complete, but b) has a nearly-infinite list of possibilities for how it can continue to grow and be expanded on. Great work!

First things first, the graphics/setting/art style of the game blew me away. I always love these kind of cyberpunk, neo-tokyo feeling games.

The first two things I noticed upon loading up the game were a) how awesome the background music was, and b) how responsive the gameplay felt (the audio and visual response when enemies get shot is really awesome). I thought the rain falling down onto all of the tiles was a really nice touch, too.

All in all, I think you definitely have a lot of potential with what you have here; everything feels complete, and if there were more levels or an underlying story to what was going on, I think you could safely call this a more-or-less complete game. :) Keep up the great work!
