LD44 — Your life is currency

Dental Dosh by petitpois 2019-04-30T14:44:24Z

There was so much information on the screen during the levels so it took a while to really be able to fully enjoy the game especially because the waves of enemies started coming so quickly when you started a level (maybe there could have been a button to start the waves).

Overall it was pretty enjoyable after you got the gist of it all!

Path of Redemption by Simon Rahnasto 2019-05-01T15:07:46Z

Wow! Just wow. The game felt really polished and great. The only things that could have really been fixed are the drops. If you killed someone near the walls their drops had a possibility of getting inside the walls unattainable and the stats of weapons that went inside the walls could not have really read. However they were such small things that they didn't really bother me while I played your game.

Amazing work!

[SHIP-WRE-KT] by webthingee 2019-04-30T15:17:02Z

The art and audio were very much to my likings! Unfortunately the window was too tall and I couldn't really read the dialogue though. I wish it would have been longer as it felt like it ended too soon but of course the length is to be expected from a jam game. Enjoyed the gameplay regardless and had fun while it lasted!

HWEY Heist by Hunter Towe 2019-05-01T07:56:17Z

There are some collision detection problems which at first helped me a lot and later screwed me up a bit. The map design was nice and the conclusion was kinda funny though!

A.R.S.E. by jjackpack 2019-04-30T20:19:56Z

I enjoyed trying to explore while looking for shelter from the aliens but not sure if there is supposed to be an end screen of some sort because I made it to the spaceship but nothing seemed to happen. Of course the start animation type of thing gave some nice background on what had happened. Overall nice work!

A.R.S.E. by jjackpack 2019-05-01T15:15:49Z

Had to know what I missed, played it again and wasn't disappointed with the ending xD

Everydayhero by VagantB 2019-05-02T19:17:27Z

I really liked the concept of the game. Nice entry considering that you made it in 12 hours. Kinda would have wanted to see how it would have turned out if the worktime had been higher. Nice work!

Dryad's Forest by miroreflect 2019-05-01T09:31:23Z

@seriouslycrunchy Ah, I forgot to mention in the controls section but you can also hold down the left mouse button and then Dryad will just follow your cursor.

LD46 — Keep it alive

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-23T14:55:39Z

Very good entry. The gnome and shooting sounds were a bit loud compared to the music but that was just something small I didn't really enjoy. It was easy to get a hang on and fun for multiple games although I have no idea how people got so high scores when I only managed to get to around 30k at best O.o

Keep The Party Alive by tuesi 2020-04-23T14:09:25Z

At first it was kinda difficult to figure out if some places needed some work to do or not as there were angry guys in almost every room but I figured I just needed to ignore them and concentrate on only the exclamation points. I found it kinda funny when the police arrived because of the noise complaints and I could pay them to leave xD. Though I couldn't move after I did that so I couldn't finish the game on the first go. It's understandable that this was made in only 72h but I was kinda hoping for there to be more minigames like the cleaning and such. Overall great entry regardless!

Bonsai by Literal Games 2020-04-23T14:37:19Z

You weren't lying about the game being peaceful I pretty much forgot everything while just focusing on my bonsais. Actually had to bookmark the page so I can find it later again and play more. Great entry, loved it, amazing job!

Lifelink by IanLux 2020-04-23T15:43:20Z

I didn't really figure out how I could make sure I would be using a certain type of attacks maybe by being close to a certain type of a friendly character? I don't know and it doesn't really matter either because the game was good and the controls were intuitive and great. Easy to get hang of and it was fun to play. Great concept and a great entry!

Paid In Full by BlackMambaJesus 2020-04-23T15:20:52Z

Okay I only figured that you could hold down the keys after coming to comment. I was about to say how the bad guys should have taken less money as my arm nor my keyboard enjoyed the fast paced key presses but it turns out I was just dumb xD. Contrary to the first comment I in a way liked the text being hidden and me slowly discovering the what was happening. It took some time to get the hang of it but in the end it was fun.

Tough without friends by miroreflect 2020-04-23T15:09:05Z

@matt-greenbury I guess that's what happens when the developer is also the game tester... Forgot to turn down the difficulty when that felt just a tad difficult for me.

Tough without friends by miroreflect 2020-04-23T16:21:47Z

@antti-haavikko I tried checking the edit and it shows "macOS" is selected and selecting something else and then back to the macOS does not change it back so don't know what's up with that.

Most of what you said about the mac build worked at least on Windows (resolution change worked and the fullscreen pop thingy) when I tried it before upload but yeah, that sucks :/. I don't know why the icon shows the web version.

In the settings though, you tried changing it with A/D? and tried going back with ESC? I just tried it and it worked so might be and issue with mac?

The player moving while seeing the map/pause menu...? There seems to be a lot of bugs with the mac build at least then as that's not something that should be happening... So I can see why it feels ridiculously idiotic.

I think you are right that the map/menu maybe shouldn't have been in the esc but rather in the e or some other key near the wasd.

It was a jam because it took me 72h to finish everything and the soundtracks I had purchased a while ago so I have no recollection of the source and thus cannot give it credit.

Thank you for the feedback though, I will add the info on the mac build being a fairly buggy one so knowing all this is helpful!

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-04-23T15:04:51Z

I was just waiting for the spider to show up after seeing it in the small clip so I was on the edge pretty much the whole time. I know the keep it alive part was about you but man. I wanted to keep those spider eggs alive as the sound of them popping was so disgusting (in a good way :D). Haven't ever played any games with the mood/atmosphere being a major part of the appeal but after that small experience I really want to try some. So you could say I really enjoyed my time, good job!

LD57 — Depths

Back From Abyss by resty 2025-04-16T21:24:21Z

The torch lighting mechanic to turn previously unwalkable areas walkable was neat and it felt really nice when some areas that were previously difficult to navigate were suddenly easy to move around in.

Liked playing the game and if you're planning on working on this game further or exploring the mechanics further I'll be interested to see where it goes!

Descendant by silkworm_sweatshop 2025-04-18T17:41:06Z

While I was on my way to get the final secret I was thinking that the types of games that force you to go through the exact same levels multiple times in a row just to unravel all of the secrets are not really my jam. Then I found out what the final secret was and now I'm having mixed feelings 'cause its absurdity made me chuckle a little xD.

Putting personal feelings aside, the vibe when exploring the dungeon and discovering all there was to it was quite enjoyable. On the first playthrough I had accidentally figured out 3/4 of the secrets that were hinted towards on f-22 which made me feel really good about myself :D. I'm also a fan of the artstyle as well as the soundtracks and effects. It's honestly quite crazy how much you were able to add into game made in such a short period of time!

Mush Rush by mcovert 2025-04-16T17:20:45Z

This is the type of game that I really like, having to really think what is the optimal play and how to get the number to go up. First run was mostly just learning how the game is played and all the different types of mushrooms so the score wasn't too high (2745) but this one goes to the list "games I'll get back to after playing more submissions".

Really calming and nice game, would like to see where this would go if you're going to develop it further!

Depth Navigator by aa4z2 2025-04-16T21:09:08Z

In the first couple of levels I didn't really focus on the depth too much and just eyeballed the angle of the ship so that I could get straight to the treasure which punished me in the later levels as I had not had much practise in navigating using the depth map :D.

The concept itself is very cool and innovative but I think there are a lot of things to figure out in order to make it into something that can be enjoyed for longer than a handful of levels without getting frustrated.

A New Hell by Kaish 2025-04-17T06:35:04Z

A good but hard game, I thought this would've been a quick one to play and get on with my day but ended up spending more than an hour and still only made it to the 7th level. Despite the difficulty I enjoyed playing it and I will definetly come back to finish it when I have time. The only thing I'm wondering is if there was some logic with how strong a bounce was since I didn't figure it out while playing and it just felt random.

Devil May Love by Fractal 2025-04-18T17:53:27Z

While the beginning is very easy it really picks up the pace towards the end. I was so close to dying a few times but I made it to the end! I guess I could've guessed by the name of the game what would happen at the end but I was so scared of what was going to happen at the end since I had one heart left when I got to the bottom. The ending was really cute and so were the graphics. I'd only hoped for a bit more variety to the obstacles going down but considering the time constraint there was a reasonable amount of different obstacles. Overall, good job!

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-16T16:37:59Z

@brian-russell I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm not quite sure if I understand what you mean by stopping the depth to be used part. Do you mean something similar to what was done in level 5 where you couldn't just place one of the characters on top of the bottom goal?

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-16T19:06:29Z

@prepe Thank you for the feedback! I was planning on adding a few more things to it post jam regardless of the feedback I'm getting to be more satisfied with the result. I, for example, had made a movable box but I had a lot of weird edge cases where it caused some crazy glitches so I didn't have time to add it to any levels.

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-16T21:28:29Z

@robin-schmitz Glad to hear you enjoyed the few levels I was able to make :) I had originally aimed to make 10 levels so the first 5 were mostly for teaching the player game mechanics and interactions with level components without immediately overwhelming them with information. That is also why level 4 was so easy as it was just meant to teach you about the lens though I guess I could've added some difficulty while also teaching about the lens. Thanks for the feedback!

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-17T05:21:56Z

@tomatolamp Oooo, that sounds like an interesting idea! I need to think how to make something like that if I end up making a full game out of this one

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-18T16:21:04Z

@dhim Yeah, there should be 3 levels of focus in the level, otherwise the level would be impossible. When working on the controls I was thinking about adding another way to change the focus in case someone didn't have a way to use a scrollwheel (or their scroll was too fast it seems) but never got around to it :/...

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-18T16:22:22Z

@joseph-tan I'm glad to hear you liked it, thank you! Could you elaborate more on the mirror/glasses mechanic, do you mean the existing one or something else?

In Focus by miroreflect 2025-04-18T16:24:45Z

@j-rara I'm glad you enjoyed playing it and were able to figure out level 3. That level was mostly meant to show that the player is not the only thing that can go in and out of focus but I guess the way I did it backfired a little based on your and @dhim's comments.

Turtles All The Way Down by VerttiXPertti 2025-04-16T16:15:52Z

I feel like this is a game that would've been played a fair amount back when web games were a bigger thing. I understand why you'd call it a rage game but I felt it was missing something, can't quite put my finger on what, to really sell it to me as one. Now it just felt like a difficult game. The only actual annoying part for me was how it felt like my mouse was too high up all the time causing me to be unable to dash.

I liked the movement since it felt like one was used mostly to get towards a platform and the second to stabilize the turtle to prevent sliding. Sometimes it was a bit unclear if you had gotten your dashes back or not (sometimes I didn't quite make it to a platform and got my dashes back and sometimes didn't) so adding some sort of an indicator would've been nice (maybe a simple sound effect?) The leaderboard was a cool addition but I didn't realize it was global until I saw the other comments (I may have to come back to this after playing some other submissions :D)

Nightmare Descent by DrSmey 2025-04-18T18:23:18Z

At first I didn't understand that the four lines on the card would activate when played on the different spots so I just tried playing one card on all of the spots on my first turn which immediately then told me how to read the cards. The only thing I'm still not certain about is what the [symbol]=[heartbeat] meant.

The enemies were creepy looking and the style they were drawn in was great and fitting for the uneasy feeling of the game. The sound effects were good and the soundtrack fit the vibe very well but I wish the animations for when the enemy increased the heartbeat or when I attacked the enemies would've had more oomph as now they felt a little weak. Other than that I really enjoyed the game and at the moment card games like these are one of my favorites so I was really happy to get to play one in the jam!

Depths of Strength by Beeb GameCodeCompany 2025-04-17T06:52:56Z

A simple but interesting submission. I would be interested in knowing how the different elements effect attacking/defending against which elements as sometimes I thought one arm would have been stronger against my opponent but I was not always correct with my predictions too often. For example, if I have both water and fire in one arm and the opponent has a purely grass arm do my arms elemental effects basically negate each other or does weakness/resistance of element affect the result more than the other one?

Would have liked for the battle to either sometimes start with having to defend or there to be a time limit for attacking before the opponent would come at you since now I could first calmly analyze which arm I think would be stronger at attacking/defending against which arm before choosing to do anything (despite my predictions being right maybe 3/4 times :D). A nice submission regardless!

Departments of Depth Corp. by reivilibre 2025-04-23T14:14:49Z

Was I basically solving a maze? Yes. Do I like mazes? No. Did it feel like solving a maze? No. Did I Enjoy playing this game? Yes.

I was chuckling during nearly every dialog due to their absurdity. I think some of the hitboxes for interacting with things could be adjusted since I felt like I was interacting with things a bit too easily even when I didn't mean to but other than that I don't really have anything negative to say. A good and funny game, I just wish I could've gotten the holiday approved for my birthday.

Deep Dreamers by Hinamarina 2025-04-16T20:51:15Z

The graphics were good and I liked what I assume is done through post processing that gives the game the CRT type look. Some of the level design could be improved, for example, in the second level I think there was a moving platform you could barely jump on when it was at its lowest point. As someone already mentioned, S and D keys felt a bit odd to use as non-movement keys but the feeling of "this is odd" is the only issue I had with it as it didn't make it more difficult to play or anything.

Great work for a first game in the genre!

DEEP PIT (you fell) by aniretti 2025-04-23T13:50:24Z

I thought my score of 55 was pretty good but then I saw some of the other people's scores and I guess my score was very mid. Reminded me a bit of Scribblenauts since that's the only other game with similar mechanic of "write a name of an item to spawn it".

I found the motor amusing since even on its own it was too heavy to use but I could see it being frustrating if you have built a delicate structure just to have it all taken away especially if you were first just gathering different items and then one of the heavier objects accidentally rolled on to the platform (happened to me with the fridge). At one point I was able to push the rod inside of the pole so that there was 0 pixels of the rod visible which was an interesting bug but I was able to get it out by vigorously shaking the pole allowing the rod to fly out of it.

It would be interesting to see different "level layouts" so that you would have to figure out different ways of stacking the objects (for example now the smaller objects might not have been too useful since the space was so open). I had fun trying to figure out how to build my way out of the pit and trying to think of all the different objects that could be fished out (although I gave up at one point and looked at the list of possible items)

Deep Mech Salvage by bearcage 2025-04-16T16:34:06Z

I wish there was more content! My first run I somehow completely missed the first beacon and therefore didn't know what to look for but on the second one I had my eyes open and ran all the way to the ends of the shark infested waters (either the rifle was too strong or the waters weren't shark infested enough as I was able to run all the way to the edge of the map with no issues :P). The art is amazing just like everyone else was saying and the controls were great too.

The only thing I would've like to have had was some sort of indicator where the closest beacon was when you had 50/50 scraps since you could pretty much go anywhere.

Glimmer in the Deep by ScrivenerOfLight 2025-04-23T14:28:09Z

I think if there was at least music the game would have a great mood. The layout of the cave was great as it easily guided you to where you were supposed to be going without it feeling forced. The graphics were great as well. I wish there was a little more but for a gamejam the size of the game is reasonable. Great job!

Above 30,000 meters by oeueGHa 2025-04-16T15:54:15Z

The falling was well done and the dialog in the beginning was amusing with the different options. At least for me the difficulty was a bit too high and I was unable to win despite multiple attempts. I would've tried more times but not having a option to restart the game other than to refresh the entire page added too much waiting for me to try until I succeeded :(. A fun little game

The Undead by j_rara 2025-04-16T15:39:55Z

While the concept is simple and not too innovative I think this idea could be developed further.

I'm sure most of the things I'm about to mention are either mentioned by someone else already or were things you would have more or less done had there been more time.

**Coins** - Since you get a lot of coins, at some point you are unable to keep up with collecting them all which starts slowing down the game. They could be on a despawn timer and/or the player could have a larger hitbox for collecting coins to make collecting them easier.

**Turrets** - Since there are a lot of coins to be collected there could be some sort of limitation on turrets. Maybe they only last for a certain amount of time or maybe you could only place a certain number of turrets. - I both like and dislike the idea for having the turrets block the players movement. I like it because I feel like it could add a level of complexity to the game since you'd have to consider where you place them to be able to still move around without too much issues. I dislike it because currently you can simultaneously move and build turrets so as I was running around and placed a turret I just stopped which felt bad. The "feel bad" moment could be removed by for example making it so that when you place a turret it takes a little bit of time for it to get built and during that time the player could be stopped because they need to spent time to build the turret. This would also make it so that you'd have to be more mindful of when you build the turrets.

**Sprites** - I found the sprites to be cute and they worked well together

Since there was a very limited amount of time to make the game it's understandable that there are a lot of things to polish since you are mostly trying to make a working game. So, while my thoughts may sound overly critical I did have fun messing around with the game you'd made :)

Game Graveyard by AntagonistBob 2025-04-17T07:12:08Z

At first I thought it was just a classic "collect things while avoiding enemies" type of a game but after collecting the first pickup and seeing that there was more to the game than I had initially assumed I got a little excited. As a concept it's alright but due to the fact that there is only so many different upgrades/downgrades and only one type of an enemy ended up playing only a few runs.

I also ended up discovering a bug, if you had regeneration and collected a new powerup you could just wait to heal completely before moving on as the 15 second timer didn't seem to stop while everything else was paused.

Anyways, this is a pretty nice submission for a jam and I liked the art style!
