I need more challenge!

remus-rain 2020-04-21 14:31

Very interesting

Interesting concept/story, but also not very challenging

Great Game and Concept. Really loved the humor. Music was good too. However, the world felt just a bit lacking and it was quite easy to bypass all the enemies without any challenge. Still though, being a COMPO entry, its really great.

The intro cutscene is funny, and the game has an ending, well done! - but there doesn't seem to be much of a challenge in keeping the princess alive in the interim. Increasingly difficult enemies would have been your next step if you had time I guess. Congrats on finishing!

Thanks - yeah that was what i think about "well i am not satisfied with it". But i underestimate the needed time for it. It was not my best LD.

Neat game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/YzvpDVUnHwU

Nice take on the theme, though keeping the Princess alive would've been enough to satisfy the theme, I would've liked to have impressed the princess by killing the enemeies! :boom:

I like the concept of "What happens after the hero saves the day" a lot. Would have loved to see what you came up with if you had more time. More challenging and various enemy types would have been fun. Nice entry!

I like the concept a lot, very creative! Like others I was able to just completely avoid all the enemies so there wasn't really any challenge, and also at some point the music just stopped playing and didn't loop.. but it's still a fun concept and good take on the theme! Good work

Nice idea of game.

I love the art and music. And the concept is brilliant! I'd love to see this game developed further.

Thank you much :)

A nice short game! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to kill enemies at first, maybe it could have been stated in the intro, but other than that I liked it! Good job!

amkingtrp 2020-04-23 15:37

I liked the humour and concept of scare-them-off-but-don't-kill the enemies, but as other people said, there's not enough challenge. If given more time, it might have been good to increase the types of enemies, but also provide different things to scare them off (e.g. the arrow/sling/shooty-thing for the slimes, maybe a torch for some darkness-loving monsters).

neowhoru 2020-04-23 15:51

thank you @amkingtrp - as the others and you mentioned i had this idea but i didn't had the full vision of "challenging the player" correctly. First i thought "ok ok the game must be finishable and it should be on-time" (i mad the opposite mistake in LD41 with some other mistakes where it was too big to find the things).

I thought about making a PostLD Version out of it just to be fair but the thing is i have no real idea what could be good to challege in this case.

TopDown games are not my best currently - everytime i made them in LD they suck - but become a little bit better ;)

Next Jam comes - and next jam will be better^^ i hope :D

emre-tahtali 2020-04-23 22:17

i really like the idea and the intro, and shooting is very satisfying :D

laura-del-pino 2020-04-25 14:56

I liked the concept to scort back the princess but i didn't understand why I shouldn't kill the enemies. But it's a nicely done game! Good job!

Nice little game, but far too easy (as many have said already.) Nice art, but the music was very noticeably amateurish, but at least there WAS music.

Interesting take on the theme, and if it was my game I would probably have had the princess be part of solving puzzles, similar to Princess Ruto in Ocarina of Time.
