LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Triumph Tribute by guilhermesouza 2018-12-05T19:13:53Z

The game is a tad confusing at first, but it's pretty fun once you figure it out. The influence of the current theme is clear. One thing I would improve on is the walking animation/speed, as the character feels a bit sluggish to control.

Overall, I like it. The graphics are pretty cool for such a short jam. Good job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Watery Crave by Zathnic 2021-04-29T17:11:31Z

While the idea is good and the gameplay could be fun, I find that the game is simply too fast. Did you forget to use delta time, or was this by design? I couldn't get over a certain jump on a high refresh screen, no matter how many times I've tried, because I couldn't react fast enough to jump on the bouncing platform in the middle of a pit.

The art style was really good though, and I enjoyed the sounds! Please don't take the criticism too harshly, it's just that this one thing prevented me from getting further into the game. Still, for a jam game this is surprisingly complete and well playing. I enjoyed how the fish thrashed about on land :D

Watery Crave by Zathnic 2021-04-29T19:52:01Z

@zathnic Sort of. The game pace feels normal now, but the jump is so anemic I can't jump out of the first water pit :P

Dante's Harvest by Wakobu 2021-04-29T17:56:29Z

Hey, really cool art! One thing I disliked though is how fast the enemies spawn. It feels like the moment I have enough money to buy a warden or two, there's already 2 or 3 large dudes at my caravan. Punching them doesn't really feel good either. Perhaps a countdown before enemies begin to spawn would balance it out? Enemy grunts were a tad too loud as well, compared to everything else.

I appreciate that you can only run on paths and walk outside of them. It's a neat detail :) All in all, I think this game has potential and could be really fun if properly develop (i.e. not within the limits of a jam). Good job!

Dante's Harvest by Wakobu 2021-04-29T18:13:15Z

@wakobu That's fair. Perhaps being able to hold the button to punch, while also making the punches weaker and faster, would make this feel somehow more fluid? Food for thought ;)

In a Barrel by Oohoos 2021-05-02T12:41:02Z

I really like this one! I even found a shark chilling in a conch :D shark.png

The movement is a bit clunky. Strafing would have been nice, but more importantly I expected ascend/descend buttons in addition to forward and back. As is, backing away just a little bit to take a centered photo of something on the ground was probably more annoying than it should have been.

That said, the atmosphere is great! The ambience really adds to the experience, and the models are well done (as are the animations). I even tried to go out of bounds, but was stopped, so good job on taking that into account.

I would really like to see this as a full game with modern graphics and perhaps a story. It definitely needs to be longer, as I "finished" the game rather quickly. All in all, you did a great job and I'm very impressed :)

Depth Charger by SneakyLemon 2021-04-26T20:18:55Z

@ludumdaredevil yeah, I tried. I spawn some stuff in OnDestroy (Unity), and I realized too late that it completely broke if I added a restart button. Thanks for checking it out!

Depth Charger by SneakyLemon 2021-04-26T20:28:14Z

@iaandrei Thanks! Those old style shooters was the feeling I was going for :)

Deep Space Beat by Srynetix 2021-04-29T17:02:03Z

Hey, pretty good! I initially had a similar idea, but went with something else. The game works well, but I do have a few nitpicks.

1. Using arrow keys when you also have to use your mouse to click retry is awkward, it would work much better with WASD (or both if you could also press a key to restart). 2. The camera could **really** use some easing/damping. It's really difficult to keep track of what's going on when moving the camera around.

Those are the only two things I disliked. I dig your art style and the music was catchy. Good job!

Deep Space Beat by Srynetix 2021-04-29T17:43:26Z

@srynetix I have mixed feelings about using the mouse to control the rocket/ship. On one hand it would allow you to do smoother movements, possibly eliminating the camera issue or at least drastically reducing it. On the other hand, I feel like the sharp turns are part of the challenge.

Farthest Place by Narwaffles 2021-05-02T12:51:11Z

Hey, that's pretty cool!

One thing I dislike is that the drone doesn't stop moving horizontally. That doesn't really work well with the way you present it returning to it's original rotation when letting go of the buttons. I feel like air resistance would more or less stop it from infinitely going sideways.

That said, I like the idea and I've enjoyed playing it. Perhaps with more variety and polished graphics this could be made into an interesting game. Maybe more obstacles and drone types?

One thing I'm missing from this is some sort of blob shadow beneath the drone, so you can see where you are. The perspective made it a bit difficult to make sure I'm not going to collide with anything.

Deep Hunting by LudumDareDevil 2021-04-26T20:35:37Z

Hey, it's not bad! Two days is a bit short, especially when going with something like libgdx. Kudos for trying something new! I did encounter an issue in that sometimes vertical shots did not collide with the deer. Other than that, it's a neat experiment and might be a fun little game if you spent more time on it :)

Yet another SCP 087 game by IAAndrei 2021-04-26T20:44:48Z

Haha, I jumped from the railing, fell to the ground and won :D In record time, too! :D

I did try again, and you did a really great job on the atmosphere. It has that feeling of tension and unease, of knowing that something will jump out at you, but not knowing what and when. Then some sort of face flew at me and... nothing happened?

It's a good attempt in such a limited time and I really did appreciate the feeling of unease. It could use a little more gameplay though ;)

Ludu Hare and the Magical Carrot by Mighty Mufflon Games 2021-04-29T17:40:37Z

Haha, I finished the game before reading that you can kick and roll  The music is really good! I like the idea, and it fits the theme very well.

Other from that one time the game froze and restarted me from a checkpoint when I still had lives left I didn't really encounter any bugs, so good job!

I appreciate the name, too.

Some notes: 1. `Roll: Strg` should be `Roll: Ctrl`? At least left control is what I can use to roll. 2. You should probably mention somewhere that you can double jump :P

Seamoth by Aniebodie 2021-04-29T18:11:33Z

Fantastic graphics, great job! The sound the sub made while charging up was silly, but I liked it. Controls were simple, but they got you to were you needed to go. My only nitpick is that you can press and release space while moving and that completely overrides your velocity. That screwed me over one time and I was just one jump short of reaching the next refuelling station.

I really like this game. It has style and atmosphere, and I'm a sucker for underwater games in general, so you get bonus points there :) Once again, great job! I wish I was half as talented as you when it comes to graphics.

LD49 — Unstable

Unstable Reactor by Gale-swift 2021-10-04T18:36:19Z

Looks really good, though the skewed camera angle makes it difficult to see what's going on. I think the main cannon is missing a visual effect? It made a sound and the enemy frigate sort of fell apart, but I didn't get any visual feedback other than that. Nice job on the voice over too, though it does get a bit annoying hearing it every single time

I managed to beat it on my first try, but did fall below 50% health once or twice, so I'd say the difficulty is just right for a jam game, good job!

I wish the radar was more visual, as in an actual radar, and less a text box with some numbers, but I understand that this is time consuming and not a high priority in a jam. I just feel like with the graphics being as awesome as they are, it would have added that little bit extra.

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-06T08:45:50Z

A difficult game, but the turn based nature lets you plan in advance. The graphics are simply gorgeous and I enjoyed the sounds and music as well. Feels way too polished for a jam game, great job!

One improvement I would make is for your caravan members to gather resources automatically as you pass them by, instead of having to click on them every time. I feel like that would let you think more about where you're going without having to double check if you've got all resource tiles selected.

I tried and failed twice, but still had a lot of fun :)

Shaky Shack by Brusi 2021-10-05T09:47:15Z

Looks and feels great to play! The only thing I'd like to have is symbols below ingredients, so I don't have to check the first page every time I play. Other than that, it's a really nice idea and fits the theme perfectly. Good job on the graphics too, they really add to the feel of the game!

Unstable Alchemist by SneakyLemon 2021-10-04T19:10:23Z

@supergamersgames You only take fall damage if you have a potion ready, because you know, they're unstable. I figured it fit the theme better that way :) You don't take any fall damage at all if you have no potions.

Unstable Alchemist by SneakyLemon 2021-10-05T07:29:44Z

@gale-swift You don't take fall damage if you're not carrying any potions :)

Unstable Alchemist by SneakyLemon 2021-10-05T11:18:21Z

@preda Definitely hard! Ran out of time and couldn't balance it properly.

Unstable Alchemist by SneakyLemon 2021-10-05T11:37:04Z

@westmave That's kind of what I was going for, but judging by the comments I'm not so sure it was the right decision :D

Unstable Alchemist by SneakyLemon 2021-10-05T11:45:35Z

@maluskhan As metioned in the description, you only take fall damage if you fall while having a potion :) You also take damage while smashing into things too fast, but also only while carrying a potion. That's most likely the cause of why you're taking random damage.

Acid insta-kills you, but that's the only thing that does. Skeletons don't kill instantly (and if they do it's a bug I haven't found :stuck_out_tongue: , though I have just checked to make sure) and each potion only takes one heart of damage. If a potion hits you and you're carrying another potion, you take two hearts of damage.

I feel like it would be uncomfortable to jump using the space bar and WSAD, while you only have to hold it for a little bit to make potions. You can't really use arrow keys, the mouse, and make potions at the same time. I could perhaps solve that by making the right mouse button make potions though. The controls could use some work for sure.

Thanks for checking it out! And yeah, it's too hard. I didn't have the time to balance it properly.

Unstable Alchemist by SneakyLemon 2021-10-05T11:49:13Z

@fishtaod Yeah, those are all valid points. To be fair, you don't collide with potions on the ground, but their explosions hurt you. I should have made that clearer, but went with it more for the fun of things exploding all over the place.

Manoe's Quest by Mahjoub 2021-10-06T09:22:44Z

The graphics are very nice, and the music adds to the feeling. The sounds are crunchy and satisfying. That said, there isn't really anything unstable in this. It might have fit the theme better if the platforms rotated randomly (but slightly) every few seconds or something like that. The font is difficult to read for me in the HTML5 version, especially on fullscreen. It seems distorted, like there's some weird scaling going on.

It's a cool game and a very interesting concept! I had fun, so good job!

Temple Of Tozi by Denzil Gomes 2021-10-05T07:51:11Z

It's a really cool game, good job! The one bug I encountered was that at some point one of the platforms just fell down and never reappeared, so I couldn't progress.

The graphics and music are awesome, and I like how unintrusive the tutorial messages are. A solid entry that could be a very fun game with additional polish.

Shifty Showers by tetrapteryx 2021-10-05T16:40:08Z

What a cute little game :) I didn't entirely get the various cloud mechanics at first, but it isn't difficult and it's very chill. I liked the music and sounds, but the sound at the end of the game only came from the left side, which was odd. It's a solid entry that could be turned into a fun puzzle game if worked on further!

The Lesser Evil by Jon Topielski 2021-10-13T19:43:47Z

I managed to finish this with 0 deaths on normal and it was really fun, great job! I chose the random palette color curse and got a few ones that almost made my eyes bleed. Not complaining, I did that to myself :D

It's a very cool idea and great execution. I could see this becoming an interesting little roguelike.

Shifting Labyrinth by plomeg 2021-10-13T19:56:57Z

It's a short but interesting game. I like the concept, but I would like to see it more fleshed out. I didn't really get if the labyrinth shifted randomly, based on the number of steps or on specific tiles, but I managed to beat it without any issues. I would like to see it be less random (or at least make it a bit clearer on what affects the layout and how) :)

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Mini Dungeon Tactics by Joror 2022-10-05T11:24:50Z

Very well done, the polish really shows in this one. I liked the music and the sfx too, they added a lot to the general feeling of the game. My only complaint is that it is perhaps a bit too difficult to string correct actions together, considering you don't know which way you'll be facing and that enemies can move and rotate you around.

That said I liked it very much and I would definitely like to see it fleshed out into something more  Good job!

autoball by torcado 2022-10-04T08:47:05Z

I'm not very good at it, but for a Peggle clone with a twist this is really fun! The theme works very well for this kind of game, but it's also very stressful

Tenjutsu by deepnight 2022-10-04T11:08:17Z

This is a really cool concept, and the sprites/animations are really well done. I found the timer to be a bit punishing in rooms where enemies need more skulls to defeat, but otherwise I had a great time with the game!

Cold Coffee in 10… by Elastiskalinjen 2022-10-04T09:00:14Z

It's a really cool, but devious concept  I'd like to see it fleshed out a bit more. The fact that you receive a clone which can step into traps and it affects you is a great idea, but I feel like it needs to not be as random or have walls that you can sort of block him against. As it is now, there is a point in the game where you will run into traps even if you try not to and there's nothing you can do, which is frustrating.

I did win though, so it's not too hard  All in all a good effort and fun execution!

10 Secs Snakes by gagapete 2022-10-05T11:15:04Z

It's a neat game and a cool idea. The time pressure definitely makes it harder as the snake gets longer. My only complaint is that for some reason the sound only comes from my left headphone (and it works fine everywhere else).

All in all pretty good, but could use more features. Perhaps powerups/debuffs?

Dust and Death by SneakyLemon 2022-10-03T20:55:00Z

@chris-covert That is a good point, I wish we had more time to fix the barrels not being very visible. Glad you liked it!

Dust and Death by SneakyLemon 2022-10-04T11:22:17Z

@timothy that's a very good point, perhaps some sort of gauge near the car would've been more visible

Dust and Death by SneakyLemon 2022-10-04T11:23:23Z

@nilolo yeah, the drifting takes some getting used to, but I think it's fun once you do

Dust and Death by SneakyLemon 2022-10-04T12:22:30Z

@izhvaryag Thanks! Yeah, I admit the theme could've been stronger in this one, but this was the only thing that came to mind

Dust and Death by SneakyLemon 2022-10-05T10:40:17Z

@jackaljk Thanks! Good point with the car not bouncing very much, I completely forgot about it and it would've made the game a bit easier. I'm glad you liked it

Iron Sword Tournament by Jackaljk 2022-10-04T10:03:16Z

The idea is pretty cool, but I found the game entirely too easy. I don't think I got hit even once. The sounds are hilarious though, so good job

Would be nice to see this fleshed out

Sub10 by uik 2022-10-04T10:57:32Z

I found it to be a bit too punishing with the healing becoming more and more expensive, and how mining each cluster always spawned multiple enemies.

Other than that, it's a great concept and could be a really cool, atmospheric game if fleshed out properly. I would definitely play it if it had more things to do and was balanced. Not enough underwater games out there for my taste
