The visuals are really good

connorwmackay 2023-01-09 14:02

Good game! Movement and shooting feels great, the audio and graphics are good too. Definitely something that you could take further if you want to

the1 2023-01-09 14:03

@jyogeet thanks! tbh as not graphically talented person I am also quite happy with the results this time

foggydude 2023-01-09 14:09

That was suuuper fun! I loved the sheer amount of juice you put into the game and I probably would play till i got that last weapon but I had to stop. The game got pretty laggy when I placed like 5 roses at once so I could dodge bullets like I'm Keanu Reeves.

Wow, this is the most polished and fun game I've played so far. If you gave me to play this game and I didn't know it's from LD jam, I would think it's a full release.

The audio visual response is amazing, the gameplay loop is engaging, and had I had more time I would like to play more of this. Graphics are sounds are sweet and charming. I really liked the idea that you basically grow your own bosses haha. I can totally imagine playing this even on my phone. Fun and challenging experience :)

My Noob Score:

I love the "Forager" vibe, gameplay feels great! I did 48110 on my first run, i tried to fill the field with blue flowers but it didn't go as planned...

aendawyn 2023-01-09 14:26

Very nice game, everything is smooth, flower patterns are awesomes, and, you know, gardener with GUN 🤣

chum-chum 2023-01-09 14:47

Amazing game! can't believe this was made in 78 hours. Great visuals, Fun gameplay, it was a bit confusing at first without much of a tutorial (I think any game would be confusing without a tutorial though ), but I figured it out quickly after. Feels super good to play too!

Lots of fun, great play on the survivor-like genre. Would like to see the early game difficulty scale a little quicker though

elastiskalinjen 2023-01-09 15:33

Really polished subission and it is also a great idea to continue working on!! My head is spinning with ideas like:

- > A combo counter for spawning difficult setups - > Some time pressure to keep you making difficult rooms instead of taking it slow - > Maybe crops that does different things depending on what crop that are close to them

justin-c 2023-01-09 16:14

Really well done game. Everything about it is well made.

You can cheese the game by only growing a few things at a time. In the end I died by growing like 10 roses at once, and my frame rate absolutely tanked.

Great job, though!

masternoob 2023-01-09 16:17

Epic! I agree with everyone that it feels very polished. I first misread the 0X on the flower menu as OK and was confused a bit, but figured it out quickly.

jiri-hysek 2023-01-09 17:11

Wow, super fun game! So polished, shooting is very satisfying and there is a lot where to progress so it keeps me playing quite a long time! I would only need to buy lives, though :) Awesome game!

davexx 2023-01-09 17:49

Super polished submission, most fun i had in a submission for the moment!

senso 2023-01-09 17:52

Smart shadow under the bullets. Gamefeel is great in your game .

Few minutes in it went laggy but still playable.

cowabunga 2023-01-09 18:12

Nice work! Maybe the best game i tried for this jam

ben-toosey 2023-01-09 20:14

I put 7 roses down in a row. I ended up with 3fps. I liked it :)

lawrence 2023-01-09 23:34

Very juicy and satisfying to play. The only criticism I have is that the health seems irrelevant, it's very easy and essentially feels like a clicker game. At least I felt this way

cornflowerblue 2023-01-10 01:09

Fun game. Screen fills up quick, lol.

mharring 2023-01-10 02:44

Great game! I made a similar bullet-hell game, so it's interesting to compare implementations. I really liked the spin-wheel to choose your plant (wish I had thought of that :D). Loved the graphics and the sounds fit very well. Nice work!

robotchimp 2023-01-10 04:10

Very polished, really cool idea, too. I wish time slowed down a bit/stopped while you're using the plant selection wheel, but that's just my personal opinion. Good job!

superpokeunicorn 2023-01-10 05:06

Really cool concept! The idea of your own plants being the enemy is a great twist. It's interesting to have to plan out where you'll put your own enemies, and how many you're willing to take on at once. The gameplay gets really frantic and fun when you get a lot of plants up at once! I will say that the interface is a bit clunky. Having to constantly go into a menu to buy plants, then select those from a wheel really slowed down the pace. You could probably forego the wheel and just make it plant them in order. Regardless, a very fun entry. Nice work!

blue-pin-studio 2023-01-10 05:46

Great entry! I managed to get to 30k score and eventually work my way up to a machine gun. At that point i thought i've seen it all and stopped playing. I really enjoyed it, at first i didnt notice there was a shop or the ability to plant. Thank god i saw the notes on the itch page!

cloistered 2023-01-10 06:23

Cool game.

Choosing plants in menu is a bit complicated, maybe placed directly on the screen.

phillip-scott 2023-01-10 10:28

Fun game - seed selection on the screen might be better but I found I can change seeds in the shop but I was mainly just buying lilacs this is what happen when I bought lots of roses  image_2023-01-10_102824169.png

sdelay 2023-01-10 10:31

Great game, the cool thing are : * graphics obviously, very polished and bright * animations : bullets, screen shakes * you give power to your enemy, and get the reward accordingly. The investment is a nice mechanic.

It gets laggy with 4-5 roses (too many items to render I guess).

But I played for 20min straight without even noticing. Addictive!

the1 2023-01-10 10:44

@sdelay thanks for playing! Some people already wrote about those lags I also encountered them and it appeared that its cause by the web build, on desktop version its seems to run fine. Will release it for windows post jam with some more updates!

jujus 2023-01-10 12:48

Graphics look really nice :), love the little details

sdelay 2023-01-10 13:02

I understand, web builds have some performance limitations. @the1 can you make a Linux build :) ?

the1 2023-01-10 13:11

@sdelay Can't promise, but I'll try my best!

stefan-laimer 2023-01-10 14:03

Really fun little game :D

jormarysky 2023-01-10 16:40

Controls are tight, shooting feels good. Playground is maybe bit cramped and UX is maybe bit too complicated for it's fast action roots. Could use some streamlining. Though that might be just me, I dislike all kinds of menu navigating stuff in general.

I like those bullet hell like enemy attack patterns. Elevates combat over most similar entries.

Decent artstyle, strong colours and good pixel work.

echerry 2023-01-10 17:21

Game feels pretty easy, because of low fps on difficult flowers, but shooting and money collecting plays nice

lila-pause 2023-01-10 21:52

Great graphics and sound, and the controls also feel very satisfying. I think it would be more interesting if the plants grew more slowly and started shooting soon after planting, so that you have to dodge their attacks before you can harvest them.

pianoman373 2023-01-11 06:25

Great art style are overall game feel. Shooting felt satisfying and the gun upgrades kept me playing for a good while. The mechanic of planting plants you then harvest is a great idea but in practice felt a bit grindy. You can farm roses very easily because of their consistent attack pattern. This combined with the gnomes not being much of a threat made it feel more like a grind to get as many points as possible. Other than that everything else felt really polished and it did manage to keep me hooked for a good while.

bowen 2023-01-11 07:15

QQ图片20230111151312.png Pretty Good!!!! The only problem is to reduce the generating of too many coins. My PC breaks down when I get 30000+ scores.

bradur 2023-01-11 09:55

Good juice in the game but there is basically no challenge. Hard to go fast because if you plant the harder flowers & user the bigger guns the game lags like crazy and just makes you go slow (in real time). With some optimization techniques like bigger coins (1, 5, 10, etc.), object pooling, ecs, etc. would make this much more fun to play.

The graphics & sfx was well done, the sfx was a bit loud sometimes if you picked up a lot of coins.

titos2k 2023-01-11 10:12

meaty gunplay and animations. love it. from ui point of view - instead of selection menus i think next/prev switchers and just buying what you preselected would work better for the fluidity of the game.

olddog 2023-01-12 01:47

Snipaste_2023-01-12_09-46-19.png

very nice shooting feed back,,,coins coolection feels so good,,,while shop and plant sys is hard to remember so much buttons

tannimun 2023-01-12 19:57

Everything has a nice polish and feels finished and whole. I like the concept very much and it's a very good game for the theme. I like that you plant enemies instead of protecting them, feel that gives it a nice unique twist. Very nice :)

yorsh 2023-01-12 20:30

Very good feedback and juice everywhere. Graphics are nice, controls feel good. Difficulty feels off for this kind of game, feels too easy.

danmerey 2023-01-13 00:48

Very nice game!

- Pleasant shooting controls, feedback from actions and sounds. - Graphics and animations are good. - It's not clear that you need to first get seeds, then plant it and then shoot it to get money. - It's not clear how planting controls work (at first) and controls of planting is not what you expect (it plants on your time, not on tile you are aiming for) - Nice that you have upgrades - Didn't expect Roses to kill me. Only then I understood that they are not my friends... - Gameplay is kinda boring after some time because there's no any real threat for a long time

jumpirate 2023-01-13 02:27

It's an interesting game format that makes me want to play it. However, sometimes the shaking of the screen is too strong and it is difficult to see the position of my mouse. Maybe you can try to reduce the screen shaking properly and change the mouse to a more obvious icon to make the whole game experience better.

6smith 2023-01-13 05:41

i really enjoyed this! has a lot of potential, would love to see the idea explored more. for instance, with a larger game area you could have much more dangerous plants, especially ones that create a variety of enemies and are harder to kill. being able to construct defenses such as walls might be an interesting mechanic as well. might want to choose a different game engine though because the game had some major performance issues with large numbers of objects

ddrkirbyisq 2023-01-13 21:23

Hello there! Just an FYI, the year is 2023 and your enourmous html embed resolution of 1600x900 will not fit on users with common desktop resolutions of 1366x768, 1440x900, 1280x720, etc. without resizing. Please see https://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-stats/desktop/worldwide

Also, holy screen-shake Batman! Maybe a screen-shake effect on every single bullet impact is a little excessive (particularly with some of the upgraded weapons =P).

I wish that the larger flowers/roses gave you more benefit, as is the simple sunflower was actually the most efficient as it offers an efficient coin multiplier (2x the coins output) and created the least amount of lag, which resulted in faster farming.

All that said, I still had fun farming some coins and buying some new weapons! :)

colossalcake 2023-01-14 01:52

Very simple and fun! The art style is nice and clean as well. Interesting that you can choose your difficulty by choosing which flowers to plant. Hoping to see a full release of this game!

artsyomni 2023-01-14 02:08

I definitely found the cheesey strat: - buy as many sunflowers as possible - fill grid with sunflowers - hold right click and just continuously shoot the sunflowers and plant new ones to replace them until you run out of sunflowers to plant - rinse and repeat. - buy the beast - continue rinsing and repeating. =P

Eliminates any fear of ever taking damage, so at that point it's just a matter of spending more time just watching the numbers go up. But despite that, I liked the mechanics at play, and everything felt very cohesive! Things certainly started to lag as I got into the 100000 points. XD

miltonnh25 2023-01-14 11:29

Good job with the game. The shooting was satisfying and the graphics were clean. I liked the dynamic of planting crops that would attack you which added some risk and reward. It did take me a bit to figure out how to actually place plants since I assumed you had to have the plant selection menu open to do so. It would be cool to see this expanded with more plant options and more incentives to push the player in to being more risky instead of just playing it safe. Overall though well done.

pataya 2023-01-14 15:12

really solid entry! the base mechanics are very juicy, but as other already mentioned above, the shop & equipment UX kind of conflict with the pacing of the game. i think having a physical shop existing in the world where you just go over the chosen article and press an input to buy would feel more fluid, similar to Hades. maybe the equip system can take inspiration from Minecraft, with just a small inventory at the bottom that you scroll through with your mouse wheel.

otherwise a really juicy and addictive gameplay!

bloodbane 2023-01-19 09:06

Build and destroy! I think the goal of this game is aside of survival is to rack huge amount of gold or buy expensive weapon :D. I can imagine this game could be expanded to campaign mode in which certain number of crops are needed to progress per stage.

cemkaanu 2023-01-26 00:08

Really polished game overall! screenshake can be too much sometimes, an option to tone it down would be great. With more enemy types and more levels this game could turn out great in the future.
