Nice game. Liked the graphics with this one, good work.
The concept and its link to the theme is clear, the game run nicely (some gubs sometimes in particular after death but nothing very embarrassing). Good job.
Since I can attack with the mouse, I'd expect to also be able to change direction with the mouse. Apart from that, great effort! Level design is really good.
Really cool dungeon crawler with great mechanics based off the theme. Very pretty art too! Was just a little dissapointed the items ended up amounting to nothing. When I finally killed the room filled with the (terrifyingly animated) balls with teeth, I couldn't pick up the rewards. And once I had finally stockpiled a whole load of potions, the game ended. The first floor however had some really interesting puzzles around health and selling to the mercant. Seeing as you have infinite health due to respawning, maybe make it so you lose health upgrades when you die? and doors don't save your progress towards opening them? Anyway, Good job!
A pretty chill game, just what I was in need for. Though there were some items I couldn't pick up like a second sword witch had blood on it and I was only able pick up the first blood stone, and my movement speed seemed to be permanently influenced by the amulet even after death and it's not in my inventory. It fits the theme really well which many have taken more lightly. So, neat!
Very nice graphics and idea. If I can add something, I would think about better signaling the offense to the enemies.
Nice work with the UI in particular, great use of space in the screen. Liked the concept and gameplay, plus the sounds were good quality. Little niggle but would be nice if I could just give small amounts of blood to the doors rather than having to go full wack and kill myself everytime I want to open a door that needs more than 3 blood drops.
Overall I had a good time though so well done.
Well, this is very good, despite the fact that there are several bugs in the game (you cannot pick up an item from the chest if it falls into you and once the camera is moving from one location to another, it is just stuck in place). The plot I did not see (or did not understand). The graphics are good.
Good game. I had fun playing it.
The only real gripe I had was the camera would sometimes get buggy and move when it shouldn't, resulting in me not being able to see the character. I had to restart once due to this.
That said, I liked the rooms concept in general, and paying to go through the doors was a solid application of the theme. The premise was interesting, and I'm impressed with the amount of content you were able to get into the game in such a short time.
Thanks for the game, I had fun! :)
This is the first game with a tutorial and a screen helper that i see this year ! Nice to see that kind of stuff ! The game runs perfectly. Very nice job !
nice game but there is buggs where the camera is not on player or at least not in the right room...
Nice submission. I liked the sprites and the UI inventory off to the side
I had a bug every now and then with the camera. It would happen sometimes when scrolling to a new room. I'd be pressing in the direction I wanted to move and it shifted the camera. Had a hard time replicating it tho
This is a really good take on the theme! This reminded me of the sacrificing health in the binding of isaac. My biggest criticisms are that my attack range felt kinda clunky and it there were quite a few bugs that made the game a bit unplayable for me. Bats were constantly clipping through walls and would damage me when I moved between screens and - like you mentioned in your description - the screen offset on the second level made it super hard to play, my screen would change to the next room before the character got there and the player had slower movement speed for some reason which made navigating the super slow. Regardless though, what I did play I enjoyed and I'm really impressed with the artwork! Overall, great job!
Very clean and enjoyable game. Well done!
The game is really polished nicely, as some of the others say the attacking was a bit clunky but I really liked the rest. I also had this bug where the camera was stuck a room next so I had to restart but anyway good job. If you have time check out my game too :v:
Solid little game, decent UI and graphics. Also matched the theme exactly (which is pretty hard for this LD's themse). Game was a little slow, but it did have some variety too it.
The theme and setting are awesome. The controls and attacks generally felt natural.
I was a bit confused by the shop (I didn't initially realize I was looking at a sell window). I was also confused on the purpose of the corrupted potions and drank one to ensure I was understanding the concept correctly.
I ran into a few bugs, but nothing too devastating. I was unable to pick up the 2nd max health increase item (full inventory?) so it despawned leaving me to kill myself from max health getting through the next door. I also saw the camera bug described in the summary.
Man those graphics deserve a seperate grade! Inventory system, merchant and items are my favourite features in this game, attacking is fine but maybe you should be able to move while attacking.
I didnt expect to see more level then 1 tbh but it did surprise me you had time for level building.
Cracking the things around you also feels great and adds to the feel.
Animations are good in general but you could also add particle effects or camera shakes when you hit an enemy, right now Im not sure whether I hit something or not.
Lastly sounds are great but the music finishes and does not loop I think you forgot to press loop button in on AudioSource which plays background music.
In general good job guys you came far and maybe could expand on the game!
Well done on this game! I loved the graphics. Everything had so much polish and detail, it was a treat to look at. You did a great job of working the theme into it with the doors that you had to pay to get into with your health, although I found that it could be easily bypassed, as it saves the amount of blood currently in the door when you die so you can simply run into a door without enough blood, die, and repeat until you got through, just rushing through the game without doing much. I would suggest only saving unlocked doors and not saving the blood in doors that aren't fully unlocked to help resolve this issue. The ambient sound works really well, although I found that it stopped playing after one loop. The game was definitely fun to play through, although there was a lack of feedback when hitting an enemy. If you played some sort of hit sound, slashing through hordes of enemies would likely feel much better. Overall well done, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future!
I have a soft spot for this graphics style, and I love the polish that went into this game even if there are some bugs (which are to be expected for a jam entry). Great job overall!
This game was fun to play, there were some bugs of course. The bugs did not hide the fact that this game was very well put together. Very Zelda like! Everything about this game felt satisfying with great programming and art. Great work!
Good job with an ambitious project. Ties in well with the theme. The tutorial was helpful, and the store is very functional and polished. I had a bit of trouble with items and found myself respawning a lot to open doors. The face monster is great - good sfx potential there. The art style was also really cohesive. Nice game!
The pixel graphics are impressive! It manages to make the traps and monsters look pretty gory, but at the same time the ending is kind of... sweet? I stopped seeing how many blood drops I have left after the fourth or fifth death. Not sure if it's intentional though.
Game would have lovely with some ambient dark music, ended up loading up a YT video with some, for the feel :D. Only had a few issues - the enemies keep moving, and attacking, whilst you are transitioning screens. And sometimes, this causes the screen scroller to go haywire - scrolling down, instead of to the right. Then you gets 5ever.
A nice entry! The main system (opening doors with life, selling items for life) works well, but combat feels a bit more random, especially with the enemy behaviour. It definitely needs some balancing because you can rush the game simply by using all your health at each door, respawning, and continuing…
Fun game! Reminds me of older Zelda titles. The visuals are great - well done! It needed some more feedback when hitting an enemy, sometimes it was hard to tell whether I hit it or not.
Pretty good, graphics are nice and the gameplay feels ok. Kinda hard to know if you hit the enemy or not, would be great with some better feedback.
Hey, very nice roguelike! Great graphics and lovely enemies (especially liked the one that looks like Cacodemon). Small detail: clickable areas for menu items are off for my screen resolution, maybe you want to fix that.
Btw, thanks for playing our game on the stream, that was awesome :)
Cool game! I liked bats very much and this idea with doors is very original. I played with pleasure, thank you!
Very nice dungeon crawler game, I liked the look a lot. The idea that you need to sacrifice yourself and respawn to advance is also really fitting the theme. The enemies were great too, especially that hungry all-teeth thing  was really good! Sometimes when you open a chest or when you die, the loot lands on the spikes around you, then you can not get at it anymore, otherwise played very well (played until the ThanksForPlaying  ) Great job! And.. thanks for playing my game on the stream, really enjoyed seeing you playing it!
Cool game! A bit short, and I hope I didn't understand the ending (was it as dark as I think it was?)
Also, the tutorial/how to play was awesomely done, I knew what I was doing from the beginning. Very understandable, I might take inspiration from you.
Had fun, thanks :)
Also, do you guys work together on your games? Are you a studio? Any twitter I could follow? Do you stream often?
what a nice game, at what point near the end I had a bug where the camera was off (but maybe it was because of my resolution) but else all was great.
I really enjoyed the first impression of the entry. The Start looked very promising. Zelda like gameplay, gitting pots, getting some loot. Awesome! The art looks very intriguing and polished and has even more links to classic Zelda games. I was excited!
As soon as fighting started though, I felt kinda let down. Fighting feels clunky and unsatisfying. There's no real feedback, spamming attack is the best and only strategy since there's zero consequence to just hammer the attack button. That's a real shame, because a good fighting system could've made the game so much more enjoyable. The rest of the game seems to be some kind of door puzzle, where you have to pay with your hp. Aas far as I've played it, death had no consequence. Even worse: Dying was promoted with full hp and new areas since the general progress was kept. At that point, the game kinda lost me to be hones.
I was really looking forward to a good zelda-like game after the first few moments and that would've been great! But the core gameplay mechanics could'nt deliver, I'm afraid. I hope my feedback is of some value for you guys.
Keep up the work!
@mashupgames thank you very much!
@gaming-night Thanks, really appreciate the feedback!
@bauke-regnerus Yes that is something we could have put into the game. Thank you!
@jam373 We will consider puting more time into level design so (possible) items or power-ups make more sense in the end. Thanks for the feedback!
@bentekiller Thank you for the feedback! yes, we tried to stick as close as possible to the theme this time.
@pusheeneiro Thank you , we will deffinitely consider adding more feedback next time !
@limejuice123 Thank you! We were actually affraid that it was too much on the screen, glad it was not the case. The idea on the door was to fully commit to them, but your approach also could be interesting
@circleoflife Thank you! The plot was hidden in the item descriptions. We will try to make it more visible next time.
@joshanthony1990 Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the good feedback! Really appreciate that
@dev-for-pizza (more like Pizza for Dev ;)! ) Glad you liked it, thanks for playing !
@avoca-do thanks for letting us know. We are trying to fix this bug asap
@knatt Thank you! Glad you liked the game (even with bugs)
@adam-elaoud Wow, thank you for the detailed feedback! Next time we will deffinitly put more time into testing the playability/feeling of the game. Very glad you liked it!
@copper-aardvark-games Thank you very much!
@a-coltzz Thank you very much for the feedback! Checked out and rated your game!
@flamboozle Thank you! We will deffinitely try to improve the map design for our future games
@al-bueche Thanks for the good feedback! It was the first tiem for us to create items and an inventory /merchant system. We will try to improve on that.
@anion-z Thank you very much, really glad you enjoyed the graphics so much! We will deffinitly try to improve on melee fighting and feedback.
Ye, I forgot to click the loop button :/
@purrfexionator thank you for the very detailed feeback, it helps a lot for future game jams and game development. Yes, we had some trouble balancing the doors and making sure that the player gets all the necessary items to go through doors (some items take away max health, for example). This is why we decided to go with the save mechanic that gets no player soft-locked in a level
@no-grapes-games Thank you very much! Very glad you enjoyed the feel in our game!
@maychant Our artist had some inital trouble with pixel art since she never worked with it. Glad you enjoyed it ! Also, thanks for the bug report. This is one that we never saw before.
@samh Thanks for the feedback! We are planning on improving our skills of melee attacks to also give the player more feedback since it is very important. With the respawn/open next door - mechanic we wanted to make sure that no player gets soft-locked in the levels
@bentebent Glad you liked it! We are trying to improve on melee attack for the next jams
@evgeniya-zapolnova Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!
@kuro The ending might have been as dark as you thought it was. We wanted to have a deep and sad story. Glad you also liked the tutorial and that it inspired you.
Yes, we are working together in our indie company Healing Bullet Games. Our twitter handle is @healingbullet and we try to stream weekly!
@duke Wow thanks for the in-depth feedback. Really helps us improving on our games for the next jams. We noticed that the fighting felt a bit off and this is why we are currently trying to improve on that to make better games next time.
@miu Thanks! The bug is independent from the resolution, it is because of a code bug we tried to fix (and unfortunately did not manage completely)
@zondarg Hey! Maria, our artist, always wanted to create balls with teeth and we are glad that you enjoyed her take on that! You can actualyl run aroud the spikes and collect the items. You are welcome! We really enjoyed playing your game
@nikolay-zapolnov Hey! (a heads up, your picture is still the background of my pc). Oh, that is a new bug that we have not encountered before. Thanks for playing it , we really enjoyed your game too!
@zesix thank you very much! I'm the artst, and I was really insecure about the artstyle, so it means a lot!
@mharring Thank you! Glad you liked the direction we were going (zelda). We are working on improving the hit effects!.
@nathant thank you very much!! We're glad the tutorial was actually helpful, cause we wanted to make a separate tutorial level, but ran out of time and had to work with a lot of text ^^; There were indeed a couple issues with the doors we didn't manage to fix. And the face monster was a running gag during a previous jam that didn't make it into that game, so it had to be in this! :D Glad you liked it!!!!
@magnanix hahaha opening a YT video for the lacking music is a great idea! :D We ran out of time when it came to the sounds unfortunately ^^; And the camera/enemy issues came up too late for us to fix...but we know better for next time! Thank you very much for taking the time to play and comment! :)
@geist-191 cool! thx! I'm following you .)
The visuals, especially the UI are nice I really like the ingame tutorial screen, except the 'This's NPC dialogue' bit - that's kinda condesending to be honest  Shame about the lack of sound.
There's a few things that hindered my enjoyment: - the screen transitions are really slow - coupling it with the sacrificial mechanic further exacerbates the issue - not enough feedback on enemy hit - can't attack when mouse is hovering over the UI
I also got stuck at some point and had to restart my 2nd run 'cause the player screen has moved, but the player stayed on the previous screen

Great entry! Liked it very much. The only negative was that the music was turned off after the first death somehow. Very solid graphics and a lot of game systems for the short amount of time.
@gurkenlabs Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it :)!
If I played in anything other than 1600x900, UI was messed up, borders didn't match, clickable area off. 4:3 aspect resolutions seemed especially bad. Seems to work fine at 1600x900 though.
Really enjoyed this! Was fairly challenging, but forgiving in how I kept coming back to life. Definitely got to one room that just needed like 12 life to open all the doors so I sacrificed myself 4 times, but that felt pretty okay with the theme =). I never found a weapon in my playthrough (must be random, which is cool), but did managed to beat the game!
@jimbly thanks for letting us know about this bug!
Thanks for playing our game and the good feedback! :)
