Pretty interesting concept, haven't seen any other games like this. I liked the graphics and the audio though, they really set the mood for everything

the concept is so genius, I loved it!!
The mother moving in beat to the music was a great touch!
Very fun concept and excellent execution! Well done :D
This is actually very fun and original game, the music is (at least for me) spot on and fits the theme perfectly.
One thing I would probably change a bit is that you can basically run "through" the mom and then it becomes easy to actually delay the bedtime indefinitely. Otherwise great concept and great execution, I would see this becoming possibly some even little more expanded game.
Very nice Graphics, Concept is good with the Theme.
Super classic art style that reminds me of the old browser games on websites like addicting games, I like it a ton.
It took me an EMBARASSINGLY long amount of time to understand what was going on and that I was building a blanket fort, but I really really like the concept. The mother AI/Spawning felt a little unfair and would sometimes spawn on me or directly next to me.
I also wish there was a way to sell or remove pieces so I could make up for past mistakes.
That's just feedback though, I seriously love this game and am probably gonna spend a good half hour on it after finishing this comment. Please finish it after the jam! It would do so well on a website like armorgames
Great, unique concept. I just had trouble placing the forts. I would place a few in different positons and then it would not let me place any more. I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong, but I would also say it was difficult to see which directions the forts connected. It would be nice to have a little more visual from the top side of which sides will connect with each other. I wasn't able to get a play through that was satisfying, because I couldn't build a big enough fort to have more than one pathway of escape.
Apart from that, I loved the little bit of story at the beginning and the UI graphics. The music was really fun. And the concept fit the theme perfectly!
It's so original and unusual! Wish there were more tiles with some effects, like traps or slowdowns.
Really cool concept, but even without using the bug where you can go through mom, you can make a circle and mine indefinitely: Screenshot 2022-04-05 151729.png. Not sure how you could fix that without banning all good fort designs, but thought I'd let you know. There's also a bug where you can mine AND move at the same time, making this design even stronger (as if it wasn't broken enough already). Finally, the market RNG means I can never have the stuff I want to build with, thus making it a tedious skip to next day game.
I like the idea, but the ease of abusing the game combined with the annoying RNG in the market makes it less fun than it could be.

very cute entry, it made me giggle! [spoilers] i did figure out you could cheese the game pretty easily just by making a loop and running through it endlessly. perhaps if you go through a tile a certain amount of times it gets destroyed? i dunno. oh i'd also say that it was kinda hard to tell what the different tiles did based on the art. it would have been nicer if that was initially clearer. but yeah great music and art! good job 👍
Thanks everyone for the awesome feedback so far! We really appreciate your suggestions and would love to incorporate them in a post-jam release of the game.
I wanted to reply to a couple of notes directly: - @notinatal @dkmk100 thanks for pointing out the bug where the player could run through mom! I've patched this issue and a few other broken things that snuck in during the final sleep-deprived hours of the jam. See the entry description for full patch notes! - @starship-captain-becca to your question about not being able to place any more forts, could it be because you've run out of blankets and pillows? During the evade phase, you can hold space to mine gems which can be traded for more building materials in later build phases.
I really liked the music, and the art was pretty good too. My only criticism would be that the placement mechanics are a bit unintuitive at first. I think it might be a bit easier to understand if the player places the fort onto the tile they're hovering over rather than the tile they're currently standing on. Really neat idea though!
Really like the interpretation of the theme on this great to delay the inevitability of going to bed (very on brand for game jamming too...)
I've notice that if you switch to another tab during the evade phase the mother stops moving but the clock keeps going. I accidentally ran up my score to several hours when I switched away to do something else.
Cool idea!
First of all, I love the creativity behind the theme. The gameplay is interesting and I'd love to see it full blown. The art and sound is simple but delivers the message perfectly!
A few points: - It would be cool if we could somehow predict Mom's path, a big part of AI is predictability. Either showing us where she's going or stripping away any random element to it.
- Since blankets and pillows are so bond together and you can't use one without the other, most of the times I would buy one of them just to be left out with an empty storage of the other. I wish the merchant sold both all the times, but still with random pricing.
- I don't think there is any way to see the actual difference between the types of tiles. A tooltip with a brief explanation would be great!
- The movement is a little iffy, it looks like the raycast is being checking for the tile instead of the barricade. This is good for empty tiles, but makes the movement clunky in the evade phase.
- The difficulty is pretty stale, which means it actually gets easier as the game progress. With more resources and more experience you can be there for a long time! It would be cool if Mom started moving faster and if something happened to your fort and you had to repair/adjust it just to add something to the mix.
Unfortunately the building system wasn't working properly 2/3 times I tried to play it and I couldn't build a huge fort like the one in the screenshot.
Overall, great entry! It's fun, it's engaging and gives you a "gimme more" feeling!
Cool and interesting game. At first I didn't know what to do but to be honest, I didn't read the instructions clearly so I didn't know how to get gems. The music is really great. I like the drama. And the art style is good too :)
the music set the mood! it got so intense when mom is approaching.
it took me several rounds to understand how to get gem, and I'm still confused the use of different fort. the placement of pillow fort is unfamiliar to me, and I hope there could be some instructions about what the different fort does, what it is good for.
overall, it shows a good vibe!
This was a really unique entry! I enjoyed the aspect of planning and creating my pillow-fort labyrinth muahaha. My only complaints were that * It was sometimes hard to tell which orientation I was placing, and I could not delete tiles once placed :( This ended my run a few times because of a bad click. * I wish the hitboxes on the tiles were a _little_ bit larger, because clicking on the very corners did not highlight the tile!
Otherwise, I had a lot of fun running around. I don't think the slower mining was really explained, so I wasn't sure what to do about it. As others said, you could run around in a loop, but the slower mining gave diminishing returns, so I don't think this was a bad thing :)

The music was fresh, and I enjoyed it at the title screen, but it did get a little heavy over time. Maybe a variation of the track with fewer clangs and beeps that just sort of blankets the background enough (haha, pun!).
dude this is reaally cool :o vibe is nice, characters are cool, graphics really work, sound is on fleek that little tab you got there like top of the screen that tells you what to do and the shortcuts and everything, that works really well those shortcuts R & T work really well too - that's well-done there fantastic UI/UX :D
id say it gets repetitive after a while - like once u got a loop of sorts and u can run around forever and avoid the mom ^^# no winstate/loststate or scoring neither - id call it a really polished and fun toy, mayhap? obviously the next stage would be to iterate but for longer and introduce like more long-term plotpoints and goals and stuff, right?
are you gonna... continue this game? i really wanna know now :P last feedback is i feel it would have been easy to come up with alternative text rather than just "uuh homework?" --> which is funny - but yeah introducing a bit of variety there would have been possible for low effort --> more bang for ur buck imo ^^#
still mad polished and finished for a ld game godspeed and here's hoping you come up with another gem like that for ld51 in september peace :D
