Cool bubble popping, with some animations it would match or even exceed the satisfaction from the real bubble wrap!

Cool bubble popping, with some animations it would match or even exceed the satisfaction from the real bubble wrap!
Cool concept! Very satisfying but wish there some kind of indicator on level 3 of where the spike balls are instead of just trial and error
Fun idea for a jump mechanic! The popping is great and I like the breakroom portals hidden around each level. Level 3 is a really good challenge, testing your memory of portal placement as you speed upward toward the goal. Nice work on the hand-drawn art, too!
I win! *I win.* **I win.** ***I win.*** I win! *I win.* **I win!**
Great job with the bubble popping sound it was very satisfying.I was slightly confused as to why the chairs and coffee were bounce pads but thought it was kind of funny.
Way more satisfying than I expected. Perfect popping sounds. The screenshots don't do it justice!
I won with a score of 5171 :D
The bubble wraps were cool. I found the level design sometimes conflicted with the character control mechanics. It was very hard to get certain coins, and I wanted to get them all! I think this could make for very interesting platforming if taken in that direciton.
The SFX were so satisfying! The gameplay was pretty innovative, it's not usual to have so much focus on upwards movement. I did like most of the level design but I did find that level 3 made me want to be able to see further up.
The jumping mechanics are pretty interesting, having to use chairs and bubble wraps as jumping pads is kinda funny! Obviously the bubble wrap sounds are nice. I would hagve liked more telegraphs for the weird red circles that kill you though. Pretty neat game!
Really liked the idea and enjoyed the sfx even tho it scared me at first :D won with 7k score
Great job with the sound effects!
Hey good job on your first entry! It was fun and the levels were well designed
Some tips I would recommend: - Have different sprites for the character in the air and on the and make the character face the direction he is moving, this would increase the amount of feedback the player gets from playing your game - I have noticed your character player has a purple outline, this is likely due to texture bleeding. That is, the transparent pixels around your player in your image are likely purple and fully transparent (191, 64, 191, 0). A common way to fix this is to make those pixels the color of your texture's border and transparent. - Consider having some physics with momentum for your character! See this for example: https://winteralexander.github.io/GamePhysicsBuilder/
Hope any of this may help you in your game dev journey.
Thanks for all the great feedback everyone thus far! I'm Haveing lots of fun playing everyone's games too. Def was happy with the sounds! One magic real bubble wrap take! with some coded variation.
-I agree @mixelpixel and @big-cow and @brineleaves could be more warning or a longer view. Its basically a get lucky or try again and remember where they are. If I reworked it to combine memory with possibility of reaction in time could be better.
-Thanks for the coins input @nardandas. I sort of leaned into the idea that they are things to reach for, and the ones near the bottom and break rooms are like bonus if you go there. But yeah I see what you mean with the momentum up you have to kind of intentionally fall or back track to get all.
-Thanks @winter2277 Def would like to add a side views or animations for walking. Good call to give player more feedback with that. The purple hair halo is actually in the art. The original I made was very colorful and I tweaked it a bunch in gimp til I landed on the finished one, very minimal color with purple hair halo:)
This was more fun than I initially thought! The sound of the bubbles bursting is very satisfying. ^^ The levels are at the right size and the idea with the break rooms is great! This allows you to explore the level a bit and not just be focused on the exit. Nice game!
Nice and very statifying. Levels had a good amount of difficulty: some you get first try and for some you need a few attempts. For the highscore I'd recommend to reset it back to the start of the level when you get send into the breakroom, so you don't get a better score when you're required to try again.
Quite charming! As other people mentioned, the third level is a bit hard, as it feels a bit like guessing how to avoid those traps.
Sweet game! I like the idea of going through different rooms, sound of collecting coin is very satisfying, just like falling to coin-chimney at the end of the level.
One of the funniest game I played so far. Amazing idea and gameplay is really dynamic and satisfying!
The bubble and coin sounds are really satisfying!
The main mechanic reminds me of those infinite upwards-mover games where you bounce off of the collectables, interesting idea to apply it to a platformer! Would love to see this idea developed further, perhaps more horizontal challenges using the bubbles for platforming. I like the sound effects a lot, having a "satisfying" game like this is a neat idea. And I agree with everyone else, having more warning for the spikes in the third level would help a lot. Perhaps zooming out the camera would help?
