Simple and efficient! Lovely concept! Maybe picking up and dropping bannanas could be bind to more common keys like "e" or "a" !!

Had a monkey. Wat more could you ask for?
@baptiste-lnq Thanks so much! Yeah good point the controls could use a little adjustment.
@calzone407 I agree. Although to be technical I think he's more of a gorilla. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
i agree, CTRL is a pretty unintuitive button to press for an action, i think E makes the most sense for WASD, or Shift for arrow controls.
but honestly, i think it's completely unnecessary for there to be any button press at all. i think it would play much more smoothly to automatically get the bananas. when i'm already concerned with keeping an eye on all the spotlights, i don't want to need to remember to press a button when i finally make it to the bananas.
it felt pretty challenging over all, especial for getting caught to be an instant loss. i think a QOL would be to have three chances, or maybe a timer like 2 seconds to get away if you're under the light.
This might just be the best game submitted to the jam
Really cool art style, especially since there is a gorilla. The movement mechanic and sound effects were great too! Well done!
Simple idea with solid execution.
The controls broke my brain at first, but I got used to them. Not super sure the explicit key is needed for picking up/dropping off bananas.
Had fun. Nice work!
@sakura-magika good point on the banana collection button. Actually I had considered littering the field with random bananas that you only need to swing past or jump through to collect too, that might've improved the feel more. Also you're totally right, I had planned from the start to give you a window of time under the light to be caught, but as an upgrade....I just never got there in the time limit.
@mrbrainfed I don't believe that that's possible. But thanks! Flattery accepted!
@matterlinx Thank you! I'm especially proud of the pixely 3D look of that gorilla and his animations, and I definitely want to do more in the future. I used blender, aseprite, and pribambase. Some things were plainer than I wanted (like the buildings) but I struggled with not making them distracting.
@fireslash Thanks for playing! Yeah I've heard that alot: how immediately strange the controls are until people adjust. I was considering having tetris rotation controls (one button to rotate clockwise, another to rotate counterclockwise) but I feel like that would be brain breaking for others... I'll work on this :)
Fun little game!
Graphics could use some spicing up, I can see there's some artistic talent there but clearly you ran out of time to give it what it deserves haha.
As others have said, controls feel weird but make sense after a few moves.
Could try and make the monkey go to the direction you've pressed even if it requires them to move around multiple corners maybe?
Nice game! Seeing as it's a jam submission I really feel it should have had an in-game tutorial explaining what to do, but once I got the hang of it it was fun. Good job!
Very simple but fun, it could use some kind of extra game mechanic as it doesn't stay interesting for long and the graphics could use some work
But that said I already had fun so you succeeded in the most important part of game dev :)
Absolutely awesome entry, I loved it, only issue I had was working out what button to press to get past the title screen XD, found it was Enter in the end.
@shadowbrain I tend to put art pretty late into the implementation so I don't often get as much time as I'd like on that stuff. But thank you! I definitely plan to improve the controls for an after jam version, with a lot more content. So if you enjoyed this look forward to more!
@arihan10 Thanks! I had a tutorial level on paper! just didn't get to it. I ended up with a decision between making an easy level or a super hard one, and I felt like super hard fit the theme: you'll almost always inevitably lose :)
@lonelyliongames Yeah they graphics aren't where I need them to be, but if you want to follow me on itch and I promise you'll see this game come back with better graphics and some more depth! I'm glad you liked what I had though.
@sammot GOT YOU....I was just trying to 'delay the inevitable' start of the game :)
Cute game. I'm not good with 3D playing so it was a bit challenging to move fast. I forgot that you need to press Ctrl to pick up bananas and I kept pressing Enter. The whistle sound is a bit loud and made me jump every time I got caught. Good graphics and I like the sound of traffic. Overall an enjoyable game. Would like to try and get a bit further when I have time to play this game again.
Lovely game, the art is simple yet nice and it's a cool concept for puzzle game although since its all crossing it seemed to me to be more about luck then calculating what will happen. Well done.
Nice game. At first the movement was a little confusing for me but once I got used to it I had more fun. Good job.
"Tactical Espionage Ape Action" I had fun playing this. Very nice concept and could be expanded beyond the jam. Well done.
High score of 57, I also found movement confusing at first(I expected left right to rotate around the building not choose the direction) once I got past that overall good game!
Biggest complaint is that the audio balance is off, the background sounds are way too quiet, and the sound effects are way too loud. The background city ambient noise doesn't get in the way of the game since there's no audio cues, so it can be much louder without getting in the way. I turned up the volume assuming the game was just overall very quiet and had my eardrums blown out by the whistle sound.
agree with other commenters - great game once you get your head around the controls!
controls take a while to be figured out, but then is quite easy. The fixed camera work well with this kind of game so that you can always be aware of the dangers more then the player position.
Gameplay is hard but fun Great entry.
Cool idea! But the controls are really contreintuitive for me :(
@collin-visser Thanks! I'm glad you tried it even though you say you're not so into 3D games.
@collin-visser @snowdrama Yeah I and the other commenters agree, it needs some control tweaks and audio leveling. I had considered rotational controls a la tetris, and probably will ad those in the future. Also this isn't the first game where I've surprised people with loud sounds but I promise it wasn't intentional! I need to work on my audio balancing. Thanks for playing!
@mar3k Thanks! Yeah ideally I wanted to lean into the randomness with some proc gen and maybe even make it more of a roguelike. Updates to come soon.
@tan-games @pev @deighta Yes, I do plan to give more control options in the future. I had a few options when I started this one and I guess I picked a less liked one.
@bodcodes Thanks! Caught the reference I see? Please anticipate the improved version of this game, follow me on itch if you're interested. I don't intend for it to take me long.
@kromeboy Yes even I found it very hard, which is probably a sign that it's too hard. I intended to give some early victories with some easy levels but I never got there. Thanks!
I'm apparently really bad at this game as I couldn't get past the main menu. From what I saw the graphics look great! Based on previous comments this is probably an issue with my browser.
Monkee  Ehm, anyway, this was really fun & challenging, great job! The idea of slowing down when having a lot of them in bag was a really good design choice, it really helped with that bag enlargment to relay that to the player  At first, I was like, "how can I collect 200 bananas?" but then I realized I get triple from BTM
@don-fouts ah! I'm sorry. What platform/browser are you using? I forgot to put "press enter to play" on the title and that's stopped people from playing. Was that not it?
@noiyy Yeah while testing personally felt a certain catharsis from emptying a stuffed banana basket and seeing the numbers go up, so I thought I was on to something! Thanks!
@roolow pressing enter worked! I'm playing the WebGL version on Windows, though my issue seems to be not pressing the correct key to start the game.
Great risk and reward balance, I had such a good surprise when a full banana bag kept me from moving out of some light. Great mechanic used to its fullest. Well done!
It's simple, but very polished game for a jam. Once I got used to the controls it was a nice little challenging game. Great job!
Unique and challenging! I love the low-poly artstyle and the risk-reward dynamic from choosing when to deposit your bananas.
This was super challenging but fun! I like the simple art style and the audio feedback was really nice. The background noises also added a nice bit of atmoshpere. I would say that the difference in volume for the background and the sound effects was a bit large, Mainly that whistle sound that's a bit loud!
I also found the controls were very intuitive thinking that left and right would send me round the pillar rather than jumping to that direction. Made quick manouvers more difficult. However, the gameplay seems to be bug free and works exactly as intended so that's all you could want in a jam! The game has been well put together although I would have loved to see "Press enter to play" since I almost gave up until I read the comments! Might want to add it to the description.
Overall, a well put together submission with a nice atmosphere and original gameplay!
