I like the concept a lot, and the tutorial is helpful. As a beginner it feels too fast paced for me to know what I am doing, besides just play every card in my hand and buy the most expensive shop card. An easy mode where you have to click end turn instead of using a 10 second blitz timer would be nice for learning.

Based on the map I thought card position might matter, but that does not seem to be the case in practice.

Really hard game, but I love deckbuilders so I liked it overall!!! Cards cannot be played after game is reset (bug?)

I'm a huge fan of roguelike deckbuilders - good to see someone tackling this genre! (I've got a big personal project at the moment to build one) I loved the music (and the 4 seasons reference). The artwork is great too. It moves at a pretty hectic pace (I know the "Every 10 sec" stipulation). There's a tonne of information to absorb as a new player and it's pretty hard to figure it out. Maybe the game should pause and show an overlay to force the user to make a decision (like the shop)? A pause button may have helped. A fullscreen option would have been good. It was a little hard to read the placed cards at the default resolution (but I liked that they grew on mouseover). It was a little unclear that I could click buildings to use them. Probably just needed a clearer visual indicator. I liked the idea of adjacency bonuses to reward you for positioning buildings, but too much was random or didn't care. A lot of the cards felt unexciting (gain some food or gold, place random forests). The economy seemed a bit broken. I always ended up with heaps of wood, with nothing to spend it on. Bug: The "Research" card seems to be broken. Bug: The "Next" button on the 4th~ page of the tutorial is broken. Not sure if there's more, or if that's the end. Bug: After losing and starting a new game, it's broken (the time doesn't run and you can't place buildings) Overall, awesome game with a lot of potential!

Pretty cool implementation of a deck builder! The game bugs out for me when I restart and I can't play any more cards and the timer isn't working.

@rob6566 @nbumgardner @chevalbancal Thanks for playing, and for the feedback! We were really low on time at the end to playtest everything (we have a lot of different cards) and to do more balancing. We plan to release a new version fixing bugs soon.

Ok, a bit more feedback after playing a bunch: Using Hunters in winter (and I think autumn) seems to generate no food. Not sure if this is intended. It'd be good to be able to discard cards for free, so they don't prevent draws next turn (or just to discard your entire hand each turn). It seems like the only way to get rid of a card is to play it. It'd be nice to be able to remove cards from your deck too. It's very hard. Playing on Normal, I couldn't get past year 3. My deck just doesn't cycle fast enough to get the food/farms. Sometimes a card gets stuck if I try to play it but then decide not to. It's hard to pick up another card in this case. It seems like the only things worth buying are farms, hunters and new arrivals (since I always have trouble maintaining food). When you lose, the game freezes for about a second. Great game! Tag me if you release an update, as I'd be keen to play again.

Hi there, Magic the Gathering, right? And "gathering" here is literally  Actually quite a good entry, tho I guess too complex for most people. However it shouldn't stop you from polish it further!

fedora 2022-10-04 23:00

@erlioniel Yup, we are big MTG fans (card games and board games in general, really), so this drew a lot of inspiration from that!

Very ambitious! Perhaps... TOO ambitious for a 72-hour game jam! The learning curve for such a game is quite steep, and without a significant amount of balancing and polish on game mechanics, and a significant amount of effort into a well-design tutorial, it's unlikely that a new player will understand what is happening. I quite enjoy deck-building games, so it's exciting to see jam games in this genre, but pulling it off well would be quite a feat. Great job on getting across the finish line in 72 hours!

this game is really difficult to understand at first, I followed the tutorial but I was still hard for my baby brain , impressive how you managed to have a lot of mechanics and things going on in such a short time, really cool! the resource management is quite challenging and the art style is lovely and easy to understand.

only criticism I have is that you have many mechanics that could be overwhelming for a nooby so it's probably better to stick to few and well polished mechanics instead, nice work!

momo-hunter 2022-10-17 17:33

Very hard game, but I somehow managed to finish it (I seriously don't know how) and I noticed that I couldn't play the "deforestation" card. I think it is because it uses two AP, but that's just a wild guess. Otherwise very enjoyable but hard game.

PS: I think the way to play it is having buildings around the environment card? It seemed to give me enough food throughout the playthrough

amarokczukay 2022-10-17 23:37

wow, if this was the "normal" difficulty, i wonder who can beat the hardcore mode haha

game idea is very nice, i like this kind of game. however, sometimes, the dragging seemed a little bugged (i wasn't able to drag a card from my deck, and it was not an action point nor a wood problem i think). apart from that, i had a good time playing it, but it was a bit stressful to see my population slowly shrink!

itskdog 2022-10-17 23:55

Nice deck builder with some good polish.

zbradaraljan 2022-10-18 00:20

Quite ambitious! I think that there should be more emphasis on the placement of the cards on the board. The mecanics are hard to grasp in one game: learning the different abilities and their interaction to know what to buy, etc.

hawkin 2022-10-18 00:27

LOVED the concept you were going for. I usually prefer "teach as you go" tutorials, but I was willing to sit down and study the tutorial because I could tell you put a lot of work into this design.

First off, the UI was very intuitive and responsive.

This theme was definitely a challenge, in that a 10-secomd timer doesn't fit all game types, especially when it forces quick play. That said, I feel like you integrated that into the story (seasons passing) very well! In that aspect, you reward the player for practicing and getting good, which encourages me to play more than once (I did!)

Like others have noted, replay is broken. This is a common issue with certain variables or states not being reset when a scene loads (for example, not initializing fields in start calls). Easily passable for a game jam, though.

Closing note: Godot, nice! Hats off to the team, great entry!

drunkardwolf 2022-10-18 22:07

Cool deck building game with some fun ideas. A few minor bugs and a bit difficult, but overall a solid entry. Great work :)

alchemic 2022-10-19 02:16

Very nice experience, very well thought out mechanics.

A bit buggy here and there, replay being broken is an annoyance, but otherwise fine.

I think food is a bit too hard to produce, I don't think I ever saw any cards really related to food aside from the farm building.

corrupt-spaghetti 2022-10-20 00:34

I really like the idea of this game. Feels like it would be a fun physical board game without the time limit. It's a but buggy, with some cards (like the Draw 2 card) seemingly not working.

Overall solid idea!
