As others have mentioned, the game link is broken. The screenshots look very polished, wish I could play the game.
Check that you published your page on itch.io, may still be in draft mode.

So I'm not getting the audio or music, otherwise reminds me very much of snake clone, I was scared of bumping into the walls!
Awesome Game! I love the minimalist style and the fact it has an online leaderboard is amazing. Great work!
@andre-van-zuydam can you elaborate a bit more for me. Do you mean I dont get the music or audio from an artistic point, or do you mean that the version that you played lacked audio? if so what version was that, Win,Mac,Linux? I will keep an eye out for anyone else having audio issues. thanks for the feedback.
Really awesome and fun, I couldn't stop playing until I managed to reach the scoreboard. The only problem I had is with the change of rooms, because sometimes it's too late and you end up crashing into a wall. But the game is overall awesome and very fun, congratulations!
Cool game, really cool. Adictive and easy to understand, I enjoyed it a lot!. The only deal I had with it it was the delay with the buttons because sometimes I pressed one button after the other and it jammed, and only kept the last one. The multiplayer score is neat, totally neat. Well done guys!!
@adrianfl Thanks for the feedback. I do agree that some rooms layouts only give you one movement to avoid collision with a wall, Ive lost many runs to those room changes. and congrats on the leaderboard!!
and Congrats to @alexei-jilinskiy as well for taking the number 1 spot with 131 score, even tho it was short lived :P ... Had to try to beat it myself, 133 is the new King!!! Muhahaha
as for the delay in buttons, the game is reading the player input every update. when the snake has to move it moves in the direction of the last player input. any previous inputs are are forgotten, and have no influence on the movement of the snake. the snake is moving at 1/4 second. I wonder if I add to the top right corner an icon displaying the last player input was, would that clear up what the snakes next move will be. anyways thanks for the feedback!

So first off, this game is polished af. The music's amazing, the graphics and animations are fantastic. The design of the levels works really well, and there's a visceral satisfaction to plowing through a load of pellets. And you managed to add a high scores board. All in 12 hours. I'm thoroughly impressed and this game's fantastic.
So I want you to understand that my complaints about the controls are here only because I played long enough for them to become an issue.
Also, after a large number of games my game froze up, but I couldn't tell you how to reproduce that.
So you know how the best strategy in snake is to, well, snake your way around. Move one block down, all the way to the left. One block down, all the way to the right, and so on. In most snake games, I can get into the rhythm pretty well, but here I kept smashing into myself because I pressed left just a little bit too early. It's hard to tell exactly why, though it may have something to do with the music being at a different tempo than the game. Would have been nice to have movement synchronized to the beats.
The second most frequent deaths were caused by screen transitions. I eventually learned to memorize where my snake had been and avoid those areas, but in the first few games I kept running into myself because my tail was just off screen enough to catch me off guard. I think the game could have been a bit more zoomed out (maybe twice as far away) and maybe the transitions could give a bit more warning.
Still, great work.
@amras0000 Thanks for the feedback. I really do appreciate the time taken to write a long review. As for Tempo you are 100% correct, that the Snake doesn't move to the beat. it is a conundrum that im still struggling with. the song is written in 90BPM meaning one beat is every 1.5s, at that rate the game is way way way too slow. if I take the 1.5 and speed up the movement to x4 per beat i will get something a bit more comparable to the .25f movement speed I have at present. However At 0.375 per second movement, the game is still 150% slower then at present, it doesn't feel nice to me. if i make it x8 per beat, i get 0.1875f moment, 25% faster then present, at that rate we are hitting past the reaction time for visual stimulus. I am proud of the song therefore I am torn, do I throw it away and make a song at 60 or 120 BPM to coordinate beat and movement or do I change the the movement or do I leave it. Im still not sure what to do.
Keep in mind that reaction time only applies to unexpected events. If you do zoom the camera out and make random offscreen collisions less likely, then the player will have plenty of time to anticipate the move and react in time. In fact, waiting for the visual stimulus of the snake moving before I could press a button is part of what's throwing me off: I'd like to just run off instinct and make fast button presses.
At the very least it wouldn't hurt to try.
I like the idea quite a bit, and I think there are two minor tweaks that would make it nicer to play -
1. The game seemed to eat my inputs sometimes. I couldn't make the tight turns that I'm used to making in snake games because of it, I'd often just run into myself instead. 2. It would be nice if it showed the room you're in and the adjacent rooms - I died a few times to not knowing there was a wall near the entrance of the next room and there wasn't much I could've done to save it!
That said, this is quite impressive for only 12 hours - we still didn't even have basic gameplay that far in. Nicely done!
Great game! I love the rooms mechanic you have going on, combined with the typical snake tail obstacle it makes for some interesting traversal situations. You pretty much nailed the theme perfectly! I really like the simplicity of the graphics. Turning your own tail the same color as the mangos made it really tricky to find your way around since it becomes camouflaged. So good!
Just some things I found a bit wonky. Since your snake moves in steps it's a bit hard to control when to turn. I'm not sure if it's not registering my inputs or I'm not timing my key presses correctly but sometimes I'd run into a wall without meaning to. Also I always die before I get to hear the amazing music! It woulda been nice if the music just played continuously even after you restart. But anyway, great work, I loved it!
Very pleasant music, simple and coherent visuals, and a lot of minor juicing of various gameplay and UI elements make for a very good entry here. I'm also impressed that you managed to get a high-score board up and running as well! I'm curious to know if you wrote and hosted this implementation yourself as part of the compo (not that it matters in terms of the rules, just curiosity).
The only thing I didn't like was that the game didn't include support for my aspect ratio(21:9 @ 3440x1440), so I missed out on some UI when fullscreen.
Overall, an extremely solid entry, especially considering you did it in 12 hours! :smile:
As an aside, please don't enable the donation request on itch for LD games. It feels cheap to ask for money for participating in LD, and keeps me from that sweet sweet download button for just a bit longer.
PPS: Your itch page URL itself makes this game worthy of the humor category. :laughing: Kappa, bitch!

Haha @bloodyaugust noticed! it was pointed out to me some time ago by a real life friend, but no else has ever mentioned it. Happy little accident. As for the High score I use the service of dreamlo to host. they make it very easy to implement into any game, the only drawback is with creating a web version of the game, it wont connect to the high score voiding that feature completely. ive been using them for acouple of previous LD i like them. As for the game I spent the first day and half thinking and planning what I wanted to to do, I began really working on it the last 12-ish hours. the implementation of the classic Snake gameplay was a self imposed challenge, 15 mins to do it. it took me 19mins because of 2 logic errors, aside from that it took me 2-3ish hours to implement everything I needed. and the rest of the time was polishing. If i had more time I was would have turned it into more of dungeon crawl, with other snakes enemies to eat for more points, jumping mechanics, portals, and bunch of other stuff. but Im glad I kept it simple tho.
Fun little game. Really dig the music. The fact that snake changes color to yellow when it eats mangos made it really hard to choose the right pass and avoid eating your own tail at times, but maybe that was the intent. Also, the controls were a little bit unresponsive at times, but that wasn't a big deal.
Fun game that's reminds me of the original nokia snake. There should be a mode where its one big box. I like the effect at the end when you lose. Its a very nice touch.
Nice fun snake clone, very mangoy music and I like the spin you've put on the theme. I like how you handle the room getting larger, was never sure how the room might change which made it good for replays, the only thing I will say I wasn't a huge fan of was the inputs, I found them a bit slow for snake. Otherwise loved it :)
