LD42 — Running out of space

Hydrogenic by Gabe 2018-08-16T10:11:42Z

I really, really like this one. It's simple and clean, and it feels really good. My only gripe is the directional thing, but I know lots of radial games that have this same issue, and there's no real good solution to it.

PlaceIt by farfadet46 2018-08-14T20:50:59Z

This is a nice idea for the theme. It's relatable and interesting. The only thing that I think you could do to improve this game is to work a little on your movement behaviour. It becomes difficult to move precisely because you just move too quickly. Well done on the solo jam though!

Little Shop of Junk by auxC 2018-08-17T10:03:04Z

This is actually properly fun. I really really enjoyed playing it. The only thing I would have liked is a little bit more time between days to just organise your shop. I think that would make a nicer feeling for extended gameplay, like you can get on top of things for a bit. But then of course the explosives would throw that all off, which would make them feel even more urgent than they do. But it really is so good. Nice job

Thank you @alex-adedge @baesama @camilovr @plukers @abyster @jk-studio @julianmh for playing and the great feedback. We really appreciate it. We'll take it all into account when we hopefully develop it further! We're also going to try to get to all of your games to give them a play & rate, so thank you again.

Descension by Dragojt 2018-08-14T16:31:28Z

This is a pretty neat little puzzle, but the difficulty ramp is a little too steep. Difficult to pull off a nice flow in such a limited time, so what you have done is quite impressive. I'm just so truly thankful that navigating a real elevator is not like this. I would take the stairs every time if I had to physically rearrange my fellow elevator riders  .

EVOLUTION by Noa Calice 2018-08-17T09:49:21Z

This is so, so nicely done. Your aesthetic is so strong and the gameplay is powerful. It's so simple, and so evocative. I honestly don't have any suggestions for improvement

Baia-Kun by camilovr 2018-08-14T21:37:56Z

This was pretty fun! I like the interpretation of the theme. The aesthetics are really, really nice. It would have been nice to see more beautiful levels to match the rest of the art. And the music and sounds are great!

OVERLOADED by rainysolar 2018-08-17T10:14:31Z

This is a lot of fun, and shows really nicely the way that crowds behave. It's silly and difficult, and it feels nicely finished. I'm not sure if there could possibly be more depth added to the gameplay somehow, but it feels nice enough as it stands.

It's not genocide if it's for the good. by Baesama 2018-08-14T20:23:42Z

I really like this idea, and it's very interesting to reduce the interaction to only two options at any point. I couldn't really understand the numbers, though. They didn't seem to reflect what I was doing. I suggest you look at Reigns, which also limits interaction to 2 options, but there is a lot more balancing that the player needs to do there, which makes the game more interesting and challenging. I also think you could tone down the 'kill' sound effect, because it's a little bit overwhelming. Another great tip for audio is to very slightly randomise the pitch of the Audio Source each time you play it, so that the sound of the game is a little more textured and less repetitive. But well done on your first solo jam! I am a student too, and doing jams like this helps a lot with learning.

You May Live (YML) by SachaY 2018-08-17T10:27:07Z

This is quite a nice game, but I played through the entire first time without knowing that I could check the bed space. I don't even know if it had any effect on the game. Also, there were some elements that were too similar to Papers Please to make it only an inspiration - especially when you're trying to make a moral problem, it's important that that major part is original. I do like the message and the way it fits the theme, though.

Pool Watch by Plukers 2018-08-14T22:17:19Z

This is like...pool pool, you know? It's really good. It's so ridiculous and crazy, but so solid underneath the janky graphics and rough feel. One of my favourites of LD so far!

Pathcloser by Suchista 2018-08-14T16:49:20Z

This was actually one of my ideas for the theme, so I'm really happy to see someone did it. You did a great job of explaining the mechanics in the beginning, and the difficulty ramp starts out well, and I feel like I'm getting it, but I think the problem is that your levels get too big too quickly, so restarting the more difficult ones is more punishing, because there are so many variables to test in one run, and so then your flow is broken and it becomes a bit discouraging. Overall I think you nailed the mechanics and the theme, and it would be interesting to see this game with a more welcoming difficulty curve.

Stuck! by chkkll 2018-08-17T09:34:01Z

I really wanted to like this game. It's a great concept and it looks really good. The sounds are also really nice, but I just couldn't get through the first level. I must have tried around 15 times and I just couldn't finish it out. The feeling you created was great, but it just got too frustrating to continue. I think relying on physics to be the backbone of the system makes it tricky to get a controlled outcome.

Trailside Mycologist by klausklapper 2025-10-07T11:41:07Z

Really nice vibe, and lovely relaxing experience. A few UX things that made it hard to play, but overall congrats on making this cool atmosphere.

Recola by danvil 2025-10-07T17:19:57Z

Congrats on taking on the challenge of writing your own engine! Looks cool in the screenshots, but unfortunately it doesn't run on Win for me. Trying v1.0.1, but I'm getting this error: [2025-10-07T17:13:20Z ERROR excess::commands] could not set component: invalid entity Entity(1895,1), and the inputs don't seem to work

Build-A-Bot by Tykki19 2025-10-07T17:33:27Z

Nice work! It's really engaging, and surprisingly complex. Lots to keep track of, which I really like in a game. Well done

GHARK - Soul Collector by yaz_protzz 2025-10-07T11:22:24Z

Really cool presentation, and great vibes. I can see there being some nice mechanical complexity in a more complete and polished game, but it's lacking in the jam version. Also hit a few bugs that ruined my runs. But nice work!

Relic Run by ZeroX001 2025-10-08T10:30:21Z

Looks great, but the controls seem to be completely inverted, which makes it almost unplayable. It's very difficult to control the character, and it's very unclear why I keep dying. If the controls are inverted intentionally, there is a little bit of interest there, but in its current state it feels like a bug.
