MAKE A WISH - A Star Journey by MAYFury 2020-04-21T04:38:30Z

This is a much different experience than I expected and I was really interested in the concept; it's very cool! I've never seen a jam game do an online community goal like this and it feels really good.\

Plus the art and audio are fantastic!

Job-Changing Janitor Fights Off Zombies And Tries To Save Patients At A Hospital by Grentacular 2020-04-21T03:34:36Z

It was definitely an interesting game! I like the idea and think local multiplayer would make this even better. Using the different classes to do different functions was sweet. I tended to just use the janitor and mop a few areas then get into outfit to rip and tear the zombies up!

There were some cases where I shot near a zombie and it didn't count as a hit even though I was directly next to it and my sprite showed I should've hit it. Whenever this happened I usually was stunned for the 3-4ish seconds from the shot and died. I didn't like the shotgun shot stun very much; it felt like whenever I shot I was taking a massive risk. But because the other soldiers died really quick I had to take on the hoards myself.

The difficulty of playing it alone was a lot, after a few matches I stopped because I was dying really fast and often due to the shotgun stun. Which is why multiplayer would be great since your friends could take on the other functions and make the game less difficult.

Overall, it was fun and with some tweaks could be a really fun wave game!

Press Flail to fail by Rafael Vital 2020-04-21T04:20:57Z

The game was really fun and definitely would be a fun mobile game especially with the controls. I never got stuck which was really nice and it was just a fun game with some unique challenges like the water wall jumping sections which made it more interesting and fun!

FIREKATANA by DPS2004 2020-05-04T12:50:41Z

The game is really fun! I loved the dash mechanic and it really made the game stand out from other wave survival games. The amount of strategy it adds without forcing the player to use is awesome! It's just really fun. The music was really nice and the audio was pretty good.

I think 2 big things that could be polished up if you work on it after this is making hurt and connected attacks feel more oomph with visual effects and sounds. This would improve the overall experience a lot. The next is a sense of progression like a score, that would be really nice and I'm also guilty of not adding into my own entry.

I think having upgrades would be pretty sweet, I personally love rogue styled games. Overall it was really fun!

DIABLOW: Savior of the Damped by SubtlyDramatic 2020-05-04T14:14:32Z

It was an interesting experience and not what I expected. I wasn't sure what atmosphere you were going for; I guessed comedic and kinda wild. The sounds hurt, I would mess around a bit more with the sound effects; the music was pretty decent though. The gameplay is simple and works well. The instruction page was a bit hard to read due to the messiness of it.

Overall, it's just a crazy collage which makes me feel like it's an LSD trip (not that I know lol). But hey, it plays well and works! Good job on finishing dood :)

Together by Ulcius 2020-04-22T02:45:42Z

This game is very meaningful and really shows the reality of a relationship. And the ending was the hardest because it seems like no matter how much you try and repair someone else's heart by giving them a part of yours; you just end up hurting like them and now you're both suffering and end up falling apart in painful fashion.

Really good entry! Lots of feels!

Tomb Of Ice by Vectrex28 2020-05-04T13:26:07Z

The fact this is a NES game I can run on a console if I had the means to do that or an emulator is honestly super impressive! I kinda wanna learn to make this type of stuff now!

The graphics are really spot on! Gameplay is really fun and interesting; as well as thought out! Level design is super nice!

Everything is just perfect, if you add sound to a updated version that'd be amazing!

Bounty Journey by Feh 2020-04-21T04:55:56Z

The art is really nice! But I'm not sure why I was controlling when the elevator moved up. That part felt like I was pressing too many control and that I shouldn't have control over the elevator. I ended up going through the top of the game and falling off into oblivion.

The one combat interaction I had was pretty good though.

Blobbysitter by Jake Marks 2020-04-21T03:46:23Z

I've babysat a variety of ages and this is a really good way to bunch all that experience into one game. They just never want to live or stay put!

Thankfully when you feed and water this little dood they don't refuse it. It's a really solid entry and was a bit of fun playing it! As ugly as the blob is, it grows on you a bit; but after I beat the game I threw it into the outlet to make sure I got out my minor frustration and moving the little dood into the poop corner over and over :D

Cheat Or Die by Kanonix 2020-04-21T04:05:42Z

I really like the game concept and I myself have cheated on some test with professors who were known for their insane skills to detect cheaters. So I think i have some experience in this line of work :D

The art is very fitting and I like the immersive audio. The gameplay itself was enjoyable and rather addicting, I never beat the game though because of one issue. The supervisor seemed to know when I was cheating when his back was turned to me and I lost the game every single time right at the end because of it. While I got away with cheating with him a couple rows down and facing towards the classs. I would say this issue just made it hard to know when I'd be able to cheat which gave it some less consistency. Does this help or hurt the game? I think as a game the random movement is enough and having issues telling when I can consistently cheat makes it feel bad when you lose when you feel you really should've gotten away with it.

Overall it's a really nice entry and I had a lot of fun!

Automata by WhatNameGames 2020-04-21T05:05:04Z

This was a really nice entry and has that good ol' Portal vibe to it. I really liked the idea of controlling multiple robots and the level design was nice!

The biggest downfall for me was the lack of checkpoints per room. I kept dying at the acid jump part over and over and after a few running back through the previous 3 rooms I just called it quits because it was a bit frustrating. I feel like a checkpoint right in that room would be great and make dying less painful.

DEFENDERS OF POLLEN by Voidoz 2020-04-22T02:30:07Z

The art for the loading screen and title are fantastic! The in-game graphics were a bit different, they're pretty decent but not as polished as the others which makes sense for a jam game. But I feel like more focus on the gameplay art would've went better since people will see that art longer.

I was really excited to play because I like bees, I like the art style; and it looked really nice! Plus it's a horizontal defense game which I also did so having someone of the same genre was pretty sweet. However, I couldn't play the game. I got into the game and saw the stuff and the game but nothing came out to attack and I just couldn't get things to function right and it felt very unresponsive. Then I read the description better and felt sadness.

If you do finish up more of a complete version I'd love to play!

Space Junk by Nick Biglin 2020-05-04T13:48:02Z

I really enjoyed this entry and didn't expect a rhythm game! And usually you want to collect the "notes" but in this case you want to avoid them which is interesting. If this had some more polish and content I could see it being a really fun game on mobile for sure!

Fading Ember by Brelx 2020-05-04T13:01:30Z

The game was pretty fun and has pretty decent art and the atmosphere is nice. The biggest thing I had an issue with was collisions. I often had a hard time getting through a section because of collision issues such as the slime jumps. The camera also felt a bit zoomed out for me personally, I just zoomed in the game on the webpage.

There's definitely potential with some nice polish :)

Cydonia by Wookie 2020-04-21T04:48:59Z

The game concept is solid and I've seen a few games like it and people enjoyed them so using two character to overcome puzzles works out nicely.

The graphics and audio are also well done.

My real only complaint is that you have to go near the blockers and trigger to see which color they belong to. I found this frustrating since it was much harder to figure out who should go where and when and became a game of me trying to remember each color.

Dark Star by manadream 2020-04-22T02:22:32Z

I really like the game, it has a fun story with some nice dialogue that just seems to fit perfectly. The music and pew pews are nice! And the graphics are super arcadey and I love it!

The only thing I can complain about is the ship controls, it's fun and different but makes the game really hard to have to turn around like that while tons of projectiles are flying around.

But! I really enjoyed it and made it a decently far and would definitely pick this up on mobile or computer!

Amafufunyana First Jam :D by Brian Suarez 2020-05-04T13:12:57Z

To start I'm not a fan of scavenger hunt styled games so keep that in mind while reading this please :) The graphics are pretty nice and the atmosphere is definitely there. I think the whole page is laid out nicely.

The main menu buttons could use some more interactivity so I know what and when I can press the buttons. I think also choosing a more clear font for the buttons would help separate them from the title text and make them more readable.

Overall a pretty nice entry :)

Force field by electronic_steve 2020-05-04T13:43:29Z

The gameplay is interesting and could be expanded on quite a bit! Different shields could be really cool to add or even different space marines.

With enough polish this could be a really interesting game!

Package Protectors by AeroSoap 2020-04-21T04:32:13Z

It was an interesting and fun game concept and probably shows how hardcore delivery people are now. There wasn't any audio until level 2 which I didn't there was audio but then I had the heavy guitar playing slam into my ears and I was like "I guess there is audio!" and it was definitely an interesting music choice.

The art style is pretty cool and not used very often; reminded me of that one flash platformer which was sweet. The controls were pretty sensative but I feel like that was intentional and it was pretty fun to get good with them. But while most obstacles were fine the white block that moves in level 1 on the white paper background is really unfair to the player and was frustrating. And when you hit a wall you're on that wall for good.

Besides that I somehow escaped level 2 and flew into oblivion which was fun. It's a pretty fun entry!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:32:23Z

@inka-mcatee Thanks a ton! And yeah that plushie cute aesthetic for the teddy bears is what I wanted to go for! Something cute turned into something cute and strong!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:34:20Z

@vano Thanks dood! Yeah halfway through I was realizing for a jam it wouldn't be super unique gameplay and even if it has more potential to be better; a jam is short. So I was hoping people would enjoy the voice lines to a narrative children's book atmosphere more or less.

And I didn't even realize that voice line didn't get edited properly lol I was in such a rush to get it all out; glad it brought some funny to the game though!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:35:47Z

@krucks Thanks dood! Yeah I realized after I had submitted and was able to sit down and play the jam version on my tablet that it really needs some sort of progression. Unfortunately I thought of the perfect progression and scoring too late into development.

But it's something I'm going to be adding with my team on a Google Play Release!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:39:02Z

@drachmor Thanks dood it really does mean a lot! I just recently started voice acting and I'm pretty insecure about it still. But people have been enjoying it so it was worth doing!

I was actually inspired by my childhood Teddy bear that I recently found after I went from university. And it's always been a very positive influence on me and helped me through some tough times. Even got torn once by a "nightmare" in a sense but got patched up. So I remembered that and thought "Damn that's one badass teddy bear.".

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:42:05Z

@ldd Damn dood that's a really nice piece! Did you make it?

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:43:34Z

@xbcw Thanks dood! And it probably is lol, one thing I want to strengthen in a more full game release is the strategy to make more units and cost and upgrades more viable! (Add upgrades in general lol)

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:49:00Z

@billehbawb Thanks dood! And the feedback is very appreciated!

The walking through was really bad originally, this was my 2nd jam game with Unity so it was still a bit rough getting into AI. But I learned a lot from it and will be fixing that up! Because yeah it's incredibly annoying especially when you just want them to hold them off for a clutch moment. I wasn't able to fully patch it before the jam release sadly.

I do want to release a Google Play version that's much more complete with the strategy elements such as better ally AI and what not :D

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:55:17Z

@xeno-software Thanks dood! I just talked my Mom into helping me get a new tablet for drawing so I could start doing my own game art. I'm glad I can run back and tell her "Look Mom! My art isn't horrible!" lol and it was a lot of fun making!

If you wanna check out more of my stuff I post a lot on my Twitter @RaeaTheDev

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-22T01:21:55Z

@scharma Thanks dood! Yeah I want to make a new audio system that reduces the repetitiveness/interruption of it and add more voice lines in the future!

The one eyed bears weren't intended, but when I saw them spawning in I wanted to originally add in optional features to make them feel more unique but didn't have time to. So their misgeneration ended up filling in that gap so I left them be :)

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-05-04T02:33:33Z

@kanonix Thanks a ton dood! It's not my first first jam, it's my first Ludum solo jam though :)

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-05-04T02:35:38Z

@ulcius Thanks dood! I've never actually played/watched? Dangaropa but people love it so I'm glad I can make something that makes people think of it! Doing something right :D I'm glad you enjoyed it! Right now I'm working with my Dad on bringing to a more finished version for Android!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-05-04T02:36:22Z

@whatnamegames Thanks dood! The storybook presentation is really what I was going for and I was worried it might not catch. But so far it seems to have gone over well.

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-05-04T02:36:57Z

@banzi Thanks dood! I hope I can reach a level of voice acting where I can do my own voice acting in the future haha

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-05-04T02:40:33Z

@spacewizardj Thanks dood! It seems how often it plays has been the factor that hurts the narration the most. I was feeling like I was pushing it too hard with how often a dialogue option played. Me and my Dad did some revisions for the "commercial" version which we decided to recap each wave during intermission to keep the impact there without repeating voice lines as often.

The whole AI issues are pretty embarrassing hahaha, after this though I was able to make a much better AI for the new version I mentioned above.

I'll definitely check it out dood!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-05-04T02:41:44Z

@derkuchen Thanks for playing dood! Yeah overall the super low level AI I made does seem to have been a very problematic part of the game.

Thankfully for the new version I'm working on with my Dad those AI issues are no more!

Keep Them Alive! by JaTDev 2020-05-04T12:38:13Z

I like how you took an idle game and added a little bit of strategy to it with the abilities. With enough polish it can definitely be a really fun game I'd play a lot on my tablet or phone. My biggest thing is a need for sense of progression which I don't think there was in this version.

Supports in any game I've played always get the short end of the stick so it's awesome to see them get their own jam entry!

Astrum Ludum by Dje Ricane 2020-05-04T14:06:20Z

It was a fun little visual novel with at least 2 endings which is awesome! I enjoyed the story and the options as well!

Kill the Dead by Nerd Sanctuary 2020-05-04T14:09:43Z

The game is solid with some more polish it could be really sweet! I would have liked though if it only told me to press the button to give her medicine when I had it; a little UX thing. I also think a reload mechanic would've ramped up the intensity a bit.

Overall a nice entry :)
