A strange and fun little game. Very short and wierd. Loved the graphics. Thanks for making this game.

darkboulevard 2022-04-05 15:22

Really liked the story aspect of it, congrats!

tsugumi 2022-04-06 05:37

The Cow can FLY?

silas-reinagel 2022-04-06 05:59

Amazing concept! Character art looks nice. Interesting general game design.

The experience was a little bit rough to actually play.

My recommendation for future jams is to team up with a programmer for interactive experiences. There are lots of coders who are interested in game jams (I think that's the most numerous role), so, as artists, it's usually pretty easy to find one.

ardorugus 2022-04-06 07:24

@silas-reinagel We had it a bit rough this time: just 2 days and a keen desire to try real coding instead of visual one (like Fungus). So, this concept is more like a challenge, to make it playable at least. In the future I think we'd take your advice in account, so to concentrate more on art, narrative and sound design. That is if we won't become cool coders ourself). Thanks for playing this weird little chase!

ardorugus 2022-04-06 07:32

@henrik-ganard The idea was for almost a hypercasual. Thanks for trying this!

@darkboulevard Inspired by kid's books like Horton). Thank you.

@tsugumi Just might). As for the moose, he may just bounce all over the screen (and beyond) at some point. A bug, or a feature?))

nebiros 2022-04-06 15:26

Loved the graphics ! Good job !

100th-coin 2022-04-06 16:16

The story and humor are great, but I think the audio needs a big change. The the in-level music is pretty irritating, and it's about a 4 second loop. Other than that, the artwork is funny, and I love the character designs. Great work!

tannimun 2022-04-06 20:12

Cute little game, liked the stories and the puzzles were alright. Maybe choose something not so hectic for music next time ;)

elena-s 2022-04-06 20:20

Artists trying coding? Wow! You're awesome!

pev 2022-04-06 20:24

I don't know. I like the graphics! But I don't understand the game. At least I hope Goose and Moose are happy with a bit of juice.

ardorugus 2022-04-07 03:32

@100th-coin I suppose, in accordance to whatever we got here this music is suitable for the chase. I had about 30 mins to get some melody and mastering, so had to go with whatever emerged from my mind. If we develop this version of a game into the one we actually have in mind, the music surely will be different. Thanks for playing and appreciating the artwork!

@tannimun Essentially the puzzles must be harder and obstacles should be clicked not all at the same time, but this is when we got too far at coding and fighting with compile errors, so... at least you liked it a bit!) Thanks! As for the hectic sound, I think this is my actual mood of fighting the sleep right before the final publish hour. I'd rather compose something deep and moody with lofi beats or something, of course. Yet, game dependable.

ardorugus 2022-04-07 03:36

@nebiros Thank you!

@pev They got into eternal loop of chase. As for the game, it's like an interactive story with some moral at the end, that friends may argue over the ice cone, but at some point eventually one will just fall beyond the screen. But do they learn in the end? Not for now...

@elena-s I know, we're totally nuts!))

olguinne 2022-04-07 17:37

Hello, guys! First, your preview art is awesome, I couldn't pass by:) Poems inside a jam game? Your're unique!! The mood of mock fight and frosty forest is really neatly expressed! (Maybe the music could be better though, it was the thing that made me stop playing.) The game is fun! And your bravery in tackling coding tasks is outstanding! What, animation?? Wow, noted, waiting!:))

olguinne 2022-04-07 17:39

by the way, I could not open the web version using Safari browser, managed to play in Google Chrome

ardorugus 2022-04-07 21:10

@olguinne Thanks for playing and reading this game! Well, maybe not until the very end of the story, still it's a bit looped with fine palm tree in the end. Anyway, Moose and Goose got through defrosting spring to some exotic island. Music... well, I had to sacrifice some deep long soundwork in order to get the coding done in time (we decided to pass on Extra). Yet, it's a tune of a weird mad chase. With that done now, not just some animation coming next. And we're finishing the development of the narrative-driven game based on one of the previous LD jams, so all the skills sharpened are being put into work and die hard game production eventually.

okamit 2022-04-07 22:30

Hahah weird game, but fun. The art is well made.

Good luck with your future game and learning to code! Well done.

boxedmeatrevolution 2022-04-08 00:21

Had a really unique feeling to it. I liked the storybook pages and the artstyle was quite distinctive.

fc85057 2022-04-08 03:27

Truly a unique game! Love the animal theme, and the great art perfectly complements it. Although it took me a minute, figuring out the gameplay was very satisfying. I think this could be an interesting full release if the audio quality was brought up to match the graphic quality.

ardorugus 2022-04-08 04:35

@fc85057 There's a nice vision of how full release should be, so essentially the music there will be different and less hectic due to specific changes in gameplay and pace of action. Still, right now it's a lot about fuss, so... Thanks for playing and rating us!

@okamit Thanks! Aye, we're gonna blast.

@boxedmeatrevolution We're grateful you liked the art, especially! Maybe, some day we'll develop this one into a more friendly still unique experience. Or maybe we'll just make it a fun kiddo book).

mgear 2022-04-08 11:20

nice graphics and unique idea, certainly havent seen similar games!

eldogg 2022-04-08 11:32

This Moose and Goose sure a funny pair. I like the storyline and artwork, once I cracked the gameplay (clicking to fling the ice cream) it was lots of fun! Good job!

arqitech 2022-04-08 14:20

I like this concept!

It would be cool if the level went on forever :rocket:

seppskit 2022-04-08 14:38

I like the graphics and the story. Would have liked it better if you could control the Goose instead of clicking away the obstacles. (but that's just my opinion) The level where the Moose is in front of the Goose was stuck when I played it. Nevertheless, a fun little game! :)

solah 2022-04-08 15:21

Pretty interesting game, it was a bit confusing but the art is great. Well done!

zachsbutt 2022-04-08 15:29

this was wild haha. between the music and the art, this left for a memorable experience, i liked this a lot. i did find the gameplay pretty confusing, but that kind of added to the experience for me

phillip-scott 2022-04-08 15:47

That was....an experience - pretty funny! thanks for making :)

ardorugus 2022-04-08 15:48

@mgear Me too). Oops, not a hashtag. I mean, we try the borders of our weirdness.

@eldogg Yes! There's a change in clicking there. Cool, you cracked it). We really thought of how not to break the fun. Thanks for playing!

@arqitech This is interesting, actually. Maybe you have a point. We'll think about it, thanks!

@seppskit Yeah, we wanted to work with the environment. I had some script for 2d player, so that would be easier, but... men have no titties;). The key to the reverse level is to hit the ice cone back to Goose.

@solah It is confusing, I agree). Thanks for trying!

@zachsbutt This could become an ever wild chase, couldn't it? We had fun. We're glad, you got your piece).

tompudding 2022-04-08 20:42

A delectable fever dream. The rhymes don't quite scan evoking humanity's ultimate inability to understand the cosmos, and the inexplicable animosity of the two ice-cream lovers is a poignant commentary on the nature of war. Bravo!

ardorugus 2022-04-08 21:26

@tompudding Woah, you're deep... Eloquently and immensely put. Bravo in return! Still, we ache for undivided friendship.

ftl-sloth 2022-04-09 02:41

That was something, very crazy art.

almax 2022-04-09 21:57

I'm at a loss for words. This game impacted me on both an emotional and physically level, and I feel like life through the lens of an ice cone is one full of cold hard truth.

boclow 2022-04-11 06:41

Cool art style and crazy story! There would have been room for more / longer levels, but I actually liked how snappy it was. Right to the point.

realtanhen 2022-04-11 12:33

Eye catching art style (love all the textures. Love me some hand drawn game art) and neat storybook looking feel! The whacky physics were interesting, this was a fun little game. Hope you guys continue to make games, I'll be keeping an eye out!

fredrik-rosell 2022-04-11 14:31

The art is awesome! This was an unusual game - glad I tried it. Well done!

easyluckygem 2022-04-12 15:49

Nice work with art. Crazy and intresting=) Funny game with so unique art. Nice job!

wfmg 2022-04-13 10:50

Good job on getting an LD game done! Not easy! To be honest, I could tell that you're artists first and foremost. I come from the other side of things myself and I wonder who fares better during LD: artists or programmers. Anyway, this is an interesting concept, but the implementation didn't work out. Winning is almost just a matter of clicking once, maybe once more to hold the moose back a little. The grammar can be a bit weird in the level intro texts, but it's still fun to read. Your art is great, though, and you did think of a very cool idea that just needs more love and polish. Individual obstacles, rather than just turning them all on/off at once, some more depth, and it'd be a much better game! Good luck and may your future endeavours be ever greater!

ardorugus 2022-04-13 13:49

@wfmg Oh, that grammar in kids' books! Really). As for the game, you're absolutely right. As I thrown myself into the depths of code I've found so much obstacles, more than there are in the game. The polished concept (in potential) is based on triggering different in-game obstacles in order to make way for Goose or delay Moose. Also there was room for rhythm game basics, even some terrain flipper. Of course, we got stuck with the implementation, but we had to do the least playable possible (make it our kinda motto). Thanks for your advice and support. We're in gamedev for real and for sure, we'll do more. Greater). Or weirder.

dis0rder 2022-04-14 10:55

Mechanically very crude and janky, but the art and poetry here is quite charming. Also appreciate your use of real photography (something I like to do myself as well).

Your process and workflow seems to be quite artistic and I can surely relate to that. It's very difficult to find the perfect balance in technical and artistic aspects in game design, especially if you try to do everything yourself!

But practice makes perfect, and there's no better place to learn than Ludum Dare!

Keep on jamming!

ardorugus 2022-04-14 22:04

@ftl-sloth We're bonkers).

@almax You dug our lore!

@boclow There is a room! If we polish this further. Thanks!

@realtanhen Please, keep an eye on us! We totally worth it. I mean, we really gonna show some stuff.

@fredrik-rosell My precious artist knows her ways. Thank you for playing!

@easyluckygem Yeah, maybe we'd do better with some visual novel, but not this time. We try some innovations within, thanks!

ardorugus 2022-04-14 22:11

@dis0rder That cranked mechanics). We have ideas and mind to develop them into some stuff, however this stuff becomes different from what we envisioned because of... technical issues. Jams - ok, we think that's how it should be, the field for your practice and development. The games we have in production... just can't be like that. But the fun is in how we manage and whatever happens throughout these 2 or 3 days of mastering the issue not for the point of some tiny success but for the grand desire to skill up and - further even better. We shall be jamming, aye. Thanks, man!

ehon 2022-04-17 18:43

Lol, what a funny little game. The art and story were hilarious :D 4th level was indeed a little buggy but I see you already know that. The game also somehow decided to start on my secondary monitor, idk why - never had this happen but if you're a team of artists those bugs are understandable (know it from autopsy, we did a visual novel with a team with a number of writers that equals zero :D). Anyways, I love it as it is, amazing entry, good job!

ardorugus 2022-04-18 03:44

@ehon 2nd monitor, interesting issue, have to check this for further development. We have some understanding how to code and put our logics in there, now, however I really had to decompose lots of working ideas in order to make this tiny story actually work). Glad you liked the art and our kiddo rhymes! This time we really wanted to have some fast and simple fun on LD, without too much art-hous-ish shenanigans we're more likely into. Thanks for having this fun of ours!

hamdogu 2022-04-18 15:56

What a strange but fun little game! I'm almost not sure what i just experienced but it was really funny and confusing, the perfect combo for a game! :p

roka-josh 2022-04-18 19:37

Bizare and funny all the same, good job!

hawkin 2022-04-20 00:16

It wasn't clear to me what my left click did. It seemed to allow Goose and Moose to pass through objects? But sometimes it seemed to redirect the ice cream cone? I wasn't sure what I really had control over, and that should be pretty clear in a game.

Otherwise, the artwork and the story were very imaginative and well done!
