Very well excecuted game!
Well done!
This is a very well made Game with a unique idea. It would benefit a lot from a nice background track so you don't only hear the soundeffects. P.s. Keep in mind, that you have to rate other games in order to receive more ratings!
Thanks, we're on it, it's been a busy week :)
Great game! The idea is really original and well executed. The rules are simple and well explained. The visuals are nice and polished.
For me, it felt a bit too much frustrating at time, mostly when fish were too much on the left or right and I couldn't catch them by any mean.
Thanks for the game 🐟
Nicely done. I think the ascend speed should be a lot quicker and I'd like to be able to take the basket further to the sides as I feel some feel are impossible to reach or shoot.
A fun and very well made little game. It was chaotic and fun to playing. Well done.
There is a lot to like here. I like the fraying lines, and the line simulations in general. The aesthetic of everything underwater felt clean and polished. The fish gun hybrids looked really cool. I wish when reeling in the camera would pan up and show me more of what is above my bucket/gun, so I know more of what is to come, and can more easily avoid deadlys. It was a little difficult to distinguish catchable fish from missiles disguised as fish. Overall I had fun playing. I am a little biased on the whole 2d silhouetted fishing games as I have my own prototype on the back burner, simmering away.... Great job!
@doot @andre-sadie yeah you're totally right about the fish on the sides. Most of the problem also covers your issue @acuriosity - we don't want the camera to be position too far down because then you don't have enough time to scan what's appearing as you go down. So if we moved the camera down you'd have less time to react, if we made the rope longer then it'd be a bit weird because the gun/basket would go off-screen (and if we attached the camera to them it'd probably cause some motion sickness).
@sleepystudios On the way down the camera is good, its on the way up that it limits visibility above the bucket as its so close to the top of the screen. So I was thinking something like if bucket.velocity.y > 0 (going up) -> lerp cam to slightly above bucket, else(on way down)-> lerp camera to slightly below bucket.
Ah yeah adding a bit of damping to the camera, adding it to the endless list of post-jam changes!
Wow, this is a phenomenal entry! I liked the take on the theme as well as the addition of guns to fishing lol. I found it kind of frustrating to control the gun, but I suppose that adds to the chaos. Keep up the good work!
Guns felt a bit hard to aim/use, but sound, graphics and concept were great! I think with a few minor improvements this game could have real potential :)
Probably one of the best take on the theme I have seen! The descend/ascend loop really highlights the feeling of depth.
The gun/net combo is an interesting idea, but maybe too chaotic for my taste.
I've seen a lot of fishing games for this jam, but this was by far the most unique one I've played yet! I really like the mechcanic of having to manage your bucket and your gun as you swing them around, but I agree with others that you should be able to move farther to the sides and you should move faster on your way up. The fraying rope is also a nice way of representing your health, and I liked how you laid out the UI. I think it would be fun and would add to the chaos if buying new weapons added another weapon to swing around instead of just replacing your current one. With some tweaks, I think the mechanics are simple enough that this could be a pretty succesful mobile game!
@dans17 having to control every weapon you buy would be amazing - that's a great idea! Thanks for your feedback too, really appreciate it.
This is so fuun! I love the concept :)) It's really polished, with nice cute effects and SFX. I love swinging mechanics, it's so organic and pleasing
That was fun lol although I got a bit mad the more I play the game because it's just so difficult to aim by hitting your weapon with the bucket lol, also going really deep and then going up again is a bit boring and broke my fun for the game it's just too slow to get up, nice entry keep it up <3
After getting beaten up by Minigun Sharks
Pros:
- Now I understand why my father loves fishing - Simple, yet wonderful graphics - Minigun Sharks with rocket launchers on top - AK-47 Sharks - Quite challenging gameplay - Good sound design - Quite addictive
Cons:
- Of course it's by design, but the guns movement is tiny bit too dependent on the basket - Wish there was rocket launcher
Can't really complain! Great job! I enjoyed it while being annoyed a bit. I'm going now to hunt some fish... with TOW System.
@mikoziq ahaha yes, a rocket launcher would be great! Good idea ;)
The game is fun and has a high replayability. It is also pretty hard to control, so don't go to deep, only when you get better weapons. @mikoziq I like the idea of a Rocket Launcher too! Also, it would be helpful to see how much I am damaged in the UI.
the game is difficult and little unbalanced, I believe you need to leave with more positive feedback loop. (More reward to the player and less punishment). There could be an upgrade in the durability of the line also because the deeper it becomes, the more impossible it becomes. The idea of the game is very original, I really enjoyed playing it, it has incredible potential! VERY VERY good job!!! :sunglasses: I invite you to test our game too
Really awesome concept, love the twist you gave to traditional fishing xD Great submission!
This is very fun game! The idea implementation is witty
Lack of control over gun is a little frustrating, but one cam easily get used to it and rely solely on luck
Visual style yet minimalistic fits perfectly, well done!
This is a best thing I played on this Ludum yet!
@gamescodedogs oh wow thanks!
it's fantastic!
Great work!
Funny idea, executed well, and looks superb! I just wish that it wasn't so hard! The repair prices are killing me :frowning2: Great game though.
Extremely interesting shoot mechanics. Yes, it was hard to shoot enemies, but it was funny enough! Dimming and bubbles effects are good as well!
Interesting twist on a classic idea ! Cool graphics and awesome gameplay, tough it was a little hard to shoot (still fine like this !) and areas to catch fishes were a bit off sometimes !It would be nice to have a background audio but overall great ! Thanks ! The fishes and sea creatures were well designed !
