Great concept and love the system you implemented! I wish there was atleast a shooting range but regardless, it was interesting and relatively fun to build

It gets better the more you practise. I myself had a habit to overdesign Ludum Dare games, which I've finished with maybe half of the total planned features. The key is to aim for a simpliest playable version of the game. If you don't see yourself making it in just one day, then it's a good idea to rethink the design. This way on the second day you have a playable game, and you can work on nice to haves. Still, it's a solid robot designer :).
Kind of buggy, but still pretty neat. I see I'm not the only one that went with a building mechanic for the theme :smile:
Great concept little buggy. Good luck :)
@c0d3d @nerdysl0th @baski Thanks!
@griz Yep, and I clearly haven't had enough :smile:
Too bas there isn't any goal to achieve but just building a robot. Anyway, you can be proud of yourself, I never done such thing before ! The sound of the wheels is a bit annoying IMO. The stock of piece counters are all at zero too. Good job and keep going ! You'd love to fight against others or climb the world with my robot :smile:
Hey you had a cool concept in mind, as some other say it's all about aiming for the right amount of features depending on your team or yourself. You should REALLY finish it during this week and upload a second updated version so people can understand your concept and see what you were aiming for. In the end, it's not really about the scores, it's more about finishing a game and add it to your list gaining experience!. The part that ended up being implemented is really well done IMO, it feels responsive and usable. You did a great job! please finish it! :D
I always loved games where you can build your own vehicles. I had to download the windows version, the webgl just had a blue screen for me.
I love it! now I'm following you on itch.io waiting for a improved version. It's defficult to craft idas and put it on all to work in only one weekend, my game is unfinished too. Anyways, Congrats for this demo!
@antoined73 Thanks, the counters were supposed to be for keeping track of the blocks gained from other bots, but of course that part was left out, so the counters were not used. Probably should have put an infinite symbols instead of just zeros...
@zhorky Hmm, maybe a camera positioning glitch...
@nax-89 That's a perfect description of the current state of the game - a demo! :smile:
@webox I'll definitely be continuing to develop the game, I'm not letting it fall to the same fate as my previous game, I have far too many cool ideas to do that!
Good implementation, would be nice if you could rotate the pieces and have some scenarios to play with the bot. I really like the idea, I've seen it in a game called Robot Arena from 2001, I loved that one ^^. Good job!
this was a nice robot editor, I liked it :)
Nice demo! I built a giant robot and destroyed myself by directing the canons at my robot :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I think the concept is there to be turned into a full game...good luck with further development if you decide to continue with it!
@danielcmcg Rotatable blocks was a feature that almost made it into the game, I even had made the alternate sprites for it.
@miu Thanks!
@catie-jo :smile: I will be releasing an updated version sometime next week, with all the stuff that I had planned on including in the jam version.
Very good concept. There is a niche for a complete game like that :D.
Cheers for getting done what you were able to! It's hard to come up with ideas simple enough to complete in a weekend :)
Well, I did build a robot. It's hilarious that I'm able to destroy myself though :rofl:
I see the limitations of the Game Jam, as you were unable to add other robots. But nice concept!
I really enjoyed building my war machine, hope to see a complete version soon ;)
Fun concept, would to have loved to have seen it complete. Nice to see it submitted anyways, well done. :thumbsup:
@captain-nakou @madbarron @itsdanidre Thanks :smile:
@solah @elemental-zeal-game-studios Thanks, the post-jam version is taking a bit longer than I expected, but it should be done before the end of the month.

The first post-jam update is now available: https://ogelgames.itch.io/robogon/devlog/107179/update-v02-post-jam-update
Fun little toy. I included it in my Ludum Dare 45 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/98_o2aOM-SQ
