The game is amazing ! It has a simple structure but very effective and it fells great to discover every new ability ! Thank you for this !

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 08:12

Thank you @vhalenn! I'm glad you liked it =]

naemis 2022-10-03 08:35

This game was so cute wth! It had a lot of charm and personality and you set the tone of the game straight away. It also had an adorable ending. Great game with a lot of funny twists. Goes to show how information is the most important thing heh.

I enjoyed the use of hiding game play mechanics within dialogue... very charming! Can't really say or find anything to critique it because I feel like this was more narrative driven. Very simple, cute, and overall well-polished game!

Great work! Happy Jamming!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 09:42

Thanks @naemis! Really glad to hear you liked it =]

blk-dg 2022-10-03 11:28

Simple, effective. I really dig the feeling of progressing. Pf course loving the art style it's really lovely to look at. Music a bit annoying past some time but no big deal. Loved the tone, had a good laugh regarding a specific vector related thingy that I thought was a bug at first, great thing. Great job !

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 11:34

Thanks for playing @blk-dg, I'm glad you liked it! I get what you mean about the music, I felt a bit uninspired there and had to make do with what I could make 😅

2022-10-03 12:48

Loved your Game ! I Don't have one of the key on my Keyboard I'm a little bit sad about it ! Otherwise The game are absolutly beautifull and funny, I'm also a big fan about your humor . Maybe next time you should get a music a little bit longer because I turn it off after 15 secondes. Good job !

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 12:53

Thanks for the feedback @geniko! Sorry to hear about the button, I'd expect that to be available to all players 😅 Really glad you enjoyed it though =]

EDIT: Thanks for the edit @geniko =]

justabread 2022-10-03 12:54

I loved the concept: Simple but super effective and challenging in a fun way! I also really enjoyed the character dialogues and how polished everything felt :) Great game!

denvil 2022-10-03 12:54

Nice story with good splash of humour. With dashing I managed to click outside of the screen multiple times, that could be prevented with mouse capture on window.

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 12:57

Thanks for the kind words @justabread !

Thanks @denvil; that's a good point, didn't think about that 😅

fabian-denter 2022-10-03 14:08

Very fun and funny game. Looks super nice and clean, has a fittingly chunky UI, plays well and has some cool surprises to discover. I would be more specific, but don't want to spoil anything for folks glancing over the comments before playing. I agree with one of the above comments about the music being a bit repetitive, but in general I liked the sound design. Overall a very good entry, good job! So, when is the full version coming out? ;)

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 14:19

Thanks for the kind words @fabian-denter! Really glad you liked it, and I appreciate the discretion on the surprises =]

Yeah, I've been a bit rusty on the music front (not that I ever was very proficient), so I kinda phoned that in :P

A full version would potentially be interesting, but no plans for something like that for now 😅

2022-10-03 18:07

Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my stream!

swen 2022-10-03 21:51

Loved this game! Really cool how you were able to incorporate so much mechanics into this and have the player figure them out through playing by himself. Luckily I made it to the wizard in the end, so the curse is lifted... PHEW.

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 21:56

Thanks for playing @elysiagriffin, I really enjoyed the stream!

And thanks @swen, really glad you made it to the end! ^^

thegamearchitect 2022-10-03 22:34

nice game. well done!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-03 23:17

Thanks @thegamearchitect !

projectcolorball 2022-10-04 05:37

that is really nice paper-style graphic!one of the best looking game I have seen in this jam so far! and the trick is funny too! press p to sPrint XD (please try our game as well!)

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-04 07:32

Thank you for the kind words @projectcolorball, really glad you enjoyed it!

(would it be possible to edit the comment so that the trick isn't given away? 👀 I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone 😅 )

demigiant 2022-10-04 08:53

By jove this was delicious, except I'm very frustrated now since I can't comment about some stuff I really liked because spoilers :D

2022-10-04 09:58

That was amazing! I wish I could wax a poor form of poetry over everything you did but, alas, spoilers!

...

I loved how you did pretty much everything in the game. I only say pretty much because I'm sure there is *something* that wasn't perfect? Right?

How did you do that in the span of a game jam?

Okay I'm going to dig deep to try to find something to constructively critique... Oh! Sometimes I would manage to engage in dialogue at the very last millisecond and it would send me back to the start anyways. Maybe providing a bit of a buffer around text could help reduce some frustrations? That's all I got. Super well done, thank you.

zyger 2022-10-04 10:03

really enjoyed this game! super fun and amazing. you did a great job :)

helzinko 2022-10-04 10:20

I think this game has the best graphics I seen so far in this jam. The idea of the game and gameplay is feels polished too. Love this. Great job!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-04 10:37

Thank you so much @demigiant ! I really appreciate the discretion, but do feel free to reach out via Twitter if you had specific notes :D

@otterfaelure thank you so much ^^ It helped that I had my instance scattering tool handy and could easily place trees and detail meshes all over the place (which is the reason there's no web version, webgl doesn't support compute shaders :( ), plus the gameplay mechanics were pretty simple, even if the player perceived more depth due to the communication of information 👀 I do get what you mean with the last-second interaction, there was definitely some tweaking I could do either in the distances or the timer ✨

@zyger thank you so much!

@helzinko Aww, really happy to hear that! Thanks for playing and for the kind words!

2022-10-04 11:26

This is so awesome! I haven't finished the game but will totally try to. There's an element of challenge and the graphics are simple but cute, and love the dialogs. The only problem I have as a laptop user is that the "home" key requires me to push another key to activate it (like an alt). Maybe have a control options for the player to change that to something else more comfy for them?

Awesome game dood. :3

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-04 11:57

Thanks for the kind words @rincs! Yeah, others had that issue with that key too, I shouldn't have taken it for granted 😅 At least it's not required to push that one key in multiple occasions, or do it fast or something, it can be the first thing you do before the timer starts, so I hope that helps at least. (purposely not being specific with the key to avoid spoilers)

dfyzet 2022-10-04 12:54

This is one of the best games I've seen in terms of visuals and humor! Had a great time! The music is as comfortable as possible, the game goes nicely. The look is truly beautiful, I love it!

incd021 2022-10-04 13:05

Very nice job, amazing that you did in only 48 hours. Love the humor and the artstyle :D Best game I've see so far. Amazing!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-04 13:08

Thank you both @dfyzet and @incd021, I'm really glad you liked it! :D

omphh 2022-10-04 13:21

Really enjoyed it! Loved the outline graphical style of the characters. I had the same issue with the home key, but was still able to complete it! Good job!

2022-10-04 13:43

It's a typical "Every 10 seconds" game :). The character illustrations are so cute, I love them. It's a good try for making a narrative game in a game jam, it inspired me a lot. And it made me comfortable that although the walkthrough process is quite long, I didn't find any bug in the game.

cyrolis 2022-10-04 15:03

Sadly, I can't press home on my keyboard :'( :'( . The game was really nice, beautiful and fun, well done

2022-10-04 16:01

Amazing ! Loved the humour and the graphics ! Had fun finding all the characters and abilities, but did not find the 'home' button, was stuck :'( Beautiful nontheless !

sudocat 2022-10-04 16:09

cute & fun take on a minit-like, choice of keyboard shortcuts truly nightmarish, but that added to the humour value.

doot 2022-10-04 16:20

Insane compo game, great job 👏

The minit vibe is perfect, and I love that you decided to base everything on knowledge and not items. Art is splendid, I'am amazed you managed to do that solo in such a short time.

As many others, I had problems finding the Home key. For my part, it's because on a french keyboard the name is totally different (Début, which means Start, nothing to do with Home).

I had a lot of fun anyway, thanks for the game and good job 🌲

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-04 16:25

Sorry to hear about the home key issue @omphh @cyrolis and @doot, I should have thought this would be an issue 😅 I'm glad you enjoyed it nonetheless, and thank you for the nice comments and kind words :D

And thanks @zakku and @cortexa233, glad you liked it =]

n-feofentov 2022-10-04 17:47

Really fun puzzle game! I love how it unfolds the further you play.

kimmyx47 2022-10-04 18:28

Really cool game, the little twists and the knowledge you obtain kind of reminded me of Outer Wilds in that sense  Also the art is really cute!

sirdorius 2022-10-04 18:28

Wow, amazing job! Loved the graphics and the dialogue was really funny (and pun-y). Very creative use of the theme and fun puzzles!

anstabo 2022-10-04 20:26

I agree with every positive comments, this game is a masterpiece of a jam and a charming experience. I didn't have the "home" key on my keyboard so I had to google what it was on AZERTY keyboards. I really dig the idea of having all the tools to finish the game at the beginning but you don't know about it.

defilerzero 2022-10-04 22:02

Adorable game and graphics, and fun incorporating other keys and mouse inputs through the gameplay.

aeveis 2022-10-05 01:03

haha, had a good time! Liked how I kept discovering new things after I thought that'll be it. The visuals were also very smooth and polished. great job!

kobato-games 2022-10-05 01:04

I had so much fun playing this game. Could not get quite fast enough to find the cure even with all the hints. I'll have to try again another time. My favorite jokes were the gatekeeper jokes :)

cyrolis 2022-10-05 07:47

I finally found how to press home button , this was write as this character on my keyboard "↖", on the "7" key !

2022-10-05 07:57

**Amazing!** That was some much fun! And the art style is super neat too, super polished! Loved it, good job :sparkles:

nyrh 2022-10-05 11:32

Very solid ! The metroi-vania kind is really well executed, the way all is there at the begining but you didn't know it is nice. I wanted to do something like minit, but you did it better !

senso 2022-10-05 13:20

The artstyle is super nicly done and omg what a lot of content you made (abilities). The white outline made the chars realy pop of screen.

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-05 13:43

@n-feofentov thanks, glad you liked it =]

@kimmyx47 Thank you! Glad you got reminded of Outer Wilds, it was one of the main inspirations in terms of mechanics :D

@sirdorius Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed the humor ^^

@anstabo The "home" key issue continues to haunt me hah. But yeah, really glad you liked it, means a lot =] And yeah, I kinda went the Tunic route with this mechanic :P

@defilerzero Thanks! Fun fact: I was *done* with Unity's new input system for this, this is all *very* hard-coded inputs :P

@aeveis Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

@kobato-games Well then maybe there was another hint to the far west or close to the end to the east that you missed 👀 Thanks for the kind words though

@cyrolis Ah, glad you found it after all! Did you end up replaying? 👀

@julialalart Thank you so much for your kind words, glad you liked it! :sparkles:

@nyrh Thanks so much, glad you think the execution was good, I wanted to focus on game design this time around 😅

@senso Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it =)

itshornunicorn 2022-10-05 15:06

This game is a gem. Perfectly fit the theme, the art is amazing, humor is cool (TED talk joke is my fav). I'm not sure that accelerated movement along the hypotenuse is a feature. Is it feature? Or bug? Seriously. Tell me :)

timbeaudet 2022-10-05 15:10

I played this for you on [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/timbeaudet) and I think I gave good feedback there, if so give a heart, and if not, don't!!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-05 15:16

Really glad you liked it @itshornunicorn, thanks for the kind words =] well, there's an NPC way down south that answers that for you 👀

Thanks for playing @timbeaudet!

studiocherno 2022-10-05 18:12

A really lovely and fun little game. Very nice art style, the mechanics were very interesting, and I liked how the game predicted the players reaction to certain messages. Overall a very pleasant experience. Did miss the lack of sound effects, but the music was good! - Peter

madeofst 2022-10-05 19:39

This is a really nicely made and original game. Particularly fun for me as you used the same core mechanic as I did, but this was such a different approach that I would never have thought of! Really nicely plotted and balanced and I loved the [redacted] feelings it gave me when [redacted] happened. Lovely aesthetic which the gameplay; as did the style of the music (even if it was a bit much after a while). Overall, really really nice piece of work and loads of fun to play to the end!

wolderado 2022-10-05 21:02

What a fun game! I really enjoyed talking every blob (or other inanimate objects) I can find. I follow your stuff on twitter but seeing the shaders work in action is really something! Super nice aesthetic! I just loved it!

serxiolas 2022-10-05 23:10

Love the humour, this is a gem!! Top 3 for me so far!! The rest talks by itself!

nick-shooter 2022-10-06 02:00

What a creative concept! Kinda reminds me of outer wilds, where knowledge is your upgrades! Really the only design change I might suggest is allowing the player to control click though gates once they know about that ability, though I can see why you might disable that since it's slower than warping. Nice art style too, it's all very cozy!

payaosito 2022-10-06 03:07

Such a cute, funny game. I think I missed some paths, maybe, but overall it was sooo entertaining. I'll probably share it around with friends, because it's a short, good experience. I don't have much else to say and I don't want to spoil, but it was amazing, I love it.

dahut 2022-10-06 11:50

That is such a fun game ! I noticed early that the diagonals were not normalized and I thought I had found a neat exploit, but then that one guy told me that it was actually done on purpose and I think that is just a very cool thing to use as an actual mechanic !

Overall, I loved it, very well done :D

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-06 13:04

Thanks @studiocherno, and thanks for playing it on stream too =] There were some sound effects while walking, talking and opening the gates (plus more) but I guess they could've been a bit harder to notice due to the music.

@madeofst Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it and reached the end :D

@wolderado Thanks for the kind words, I'm happy you liked it =]

@serxiolas glad you liked it! thank you for the kind words :D

@nick-shooter Thanks Nick! Outer Wilds was definitely an inspiration. Since that's considered to be a "knowledgevania" it felt right to combine with something like Minit (which is technically a metroidvania) :D

@payaosito Thanks for the kind words and thanks for sharing (if you do end up sharing it that is 😅)! I'm happy that you liked it =]

@dahut Thanks, glad you liked it! I might as well normalize the input when walking tbh, cause I actually explicitly make it faster when you're not walking 👀 but I guess it serves as a nice hint

2022-10-07 10:29

What an outstanding entry !

This is so creative I don't know where to begin haha, I had a lot of fun with the dialogues, the graphics are super cute and the music really fits the whole mood.

Super impressive that the game is so polished for a compo as well, super well done :D

rickylee 2022-10-07 11:51

This is the winner for me ^^ absolutely incredible stuff, all-round impressive you've made a fan here! ^^ haha

ha1fbit 2022-10-07 13:14

Awesome game. The art style was super cute, and the core timer mechanic was simple but used to great effect. I love that all the characters were just like, "Oh, you didn't know about this fundamental movement mechanic? What have you been doing, WALKING?" Also, Timmy and Jimmy. Why. WHYYYY.

The only critique I have, and it's not even really a critique, is the collision with the air in front of the trees could be a bit closer to the actual tree line.

Great job, esp. for 48 hours.

fnelix 2022-10-07 18:40

A great little game! Very cute look and all-around polished, fun narrative. Really great job

jose-bonilla 2022-10-08 01:22

Absolutely fantastic game. Congratulations for your humor and mechanic discovery. Super polished, amazing. Best game I've played this jam.

badcop 2022-10-08 06:41

wow you weren't kidding that we had similar ideas!

I really like the direction you took, still ended up being a very different game (love the humor!) :D

joedev 2022-10-08 10:57

Haha, fantastic humor, fantastic visuals and audio, fantastic take on the theme. I love games where you discover bit by bit all of the things you could already do, and such a nice use of a small area but keeping the exploration fresh.

Great job!

2022-10-10 16:17

such a nice game)) I really like the idea and characters)))

animawish 2022-10-11 06:28

This was extremely funny and some ingenious game design. Very impressive work!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-11 12:10

@fokaz thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Glad you liked the music too, music making isn't really my strongest suit :D

@rickylee Aww thanks! Glad you liked it =]

@ha1fbit Thanks for the kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed Timmy's and Jimmy's company :P yeah I didn't have time for proper collisions so I just made a big invisible pro-builder mesh to encapsulate the path and some trees got erased in favor of visibility. Really appreciate the comments and feedback =]

@fnelix thank you!

@jose-bonilla Ah, really happy to hear that, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! ^^

@badcop I'm glad you liked it, happy you enjoyed the humor too 😅

@joedev Thanks Joe, I'm glad you enjoyed it =]

@mikkyti Thank you!

@animawish ah thanks! I'm glad the game design worked :D

ll11 2022-10-12 05:10

Appreciate the lovely, neat cartoon art style! The sound effects and mild motion effects are also well designed. Conversions are funny. It also matches the theme very well. Nick work!

squimmy 2022-10-12 12:55

This was pretty good! Clever, imaginative, and very polished for a compo entry. The way the game unfolded was fun and silly without ever quite becoming annoying.

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-12 13:08

@ll11 and @squimmy, thank you both for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it =]

tricky-fat-cat 2022-10-12 15:35

It's a qute tiny game with extremely witty humour and beautiful visuals. Really enjoyed playing it, well done.

mtabasco 2022-10-13 16:28

Very clever game, it kept surprising me all throughout! I think the level design is genious, it felt like the game knew exactly where I would go next at any time. Audio and graphics are great two. Congratulations!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-15 10:46

Thanks @tricky-fat-cat and @mtabasco, I'm glad you liked it =]

cataclysmicknight 2022-10-16 16:05

It blows my mind that you made this in 2 days omg. And you even managed to include a really cool lesson in the game?!?! Well freaking done. This is my favorite game of LD so far at least :D I saw it on Itch and couldn't resist it! You've absolutely got a new fan now for sure 🙌🥳 All the 5-star ratings are belong to youuuuuuuu! Now excuse me, I'm gonna go talk to some gates :)

kleinzach 2022-10-16 19:21

Great game! I love the concept of using mechanics that you just don't know about yet but have been there all along. Great humor, and I love the art.

vykri 2022-10-16 23:39

Hey, thanks for making the game! I played through it and recorded my thoughts.

https://youtu.be/ZzOnTPIqsLk

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-17 07:54

Thank you so much @cataclysmicknight for the kind words, I'm really glad you liked it =]

Thanks @kleinzach! :D

Thank you for the video and the thorough feedback @vykri, I really enjoyed watching you play the game, I felt you went about it exactly as intended =] I'm really happy you enjoyed it, really appreciate the great rating too!

kmyho 2022-10-20 16:46

I LOOOOOOVE your art style !!! It was a great discovery and a good game for me, so thank you !

Our game is [WHO'S NEXT !?](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/whos-next) if you want to play, have fun ;D

epeachyband 2022-10-21 02:41

The gamedesign is so brilliant! One of the best Compo entries!

knipsch 2022-10-21 16:34

Beautiful visuals and excellent, witty dialogue. I loved the puzzle aspect and had a lot of fun. Thank you for making this!

madbarron 2022-10-21 16:50

Fantastic! It was funny, clever, and beautiful. I enjoyed it and figured it out all by myself 🙂

ginahe 2022-10-21 18:42

Are you God himself ? the game is stunning . Perfect in every way , the only bit that miss is more content . Some more dialogue and the ability to talk back to all NPC after lifting the curse . But other than that I cannot help you make the game better as I don't know what could be improved ^^' . Funny , clever , polished , like wtf xD GG for your amazing work

kaylalalavalentine 2022-10-21 20:03

The graphics are so silly and cute! Love it!

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-22 11:26

@kmyho thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you liked it! :D

@epeachyband Damn thanks! Really happy to hear that =]

@knipsch Thank you for playing and for the nice comments, I'm happy you liked it!

@madbarron Glad to hear you figured it out, as some had trouble (especially with the Home key, that's on me 😅 )

@ginahe I'm afraid I'm not, but I wouldn't really want to be him at this time tbh :P I'm really happy you liked it! I agree, some more in-depth dialogue mechanics could enhance the experience, but I think that making it any longer would make the fun of the concept wear out a bit. But I'm glad to hear it worked well for the jam format =]

@kaylalalavalentine Hah thanks!
