Nice! Feels like a mix between Hotline Miami and I Made A Game With Zombies In It! I like the ending :D

The weapons feel good. Different effects would have been cool as you mention. The teleporting guys are cheap!

I think there might be a bug where the total souls collected doesn't reset after you restart? I died twice then won in 2 waves.

Great job!

That was quite entertaining. I like all the different attacks you can use. Great work on the intro too, and the ending made me laugh. Multiple enemies tend to end up on the same spot quite often making them very easy to beat. It seemed odd getting several souls for what appeared to be one kill.

The opening was so good! And the ending was funny. The actual game play needed some more time and love. Showing an animation and/or a sound effect to show that you've hit the enemy would be nice. Good Job!

This game was a total blast, but it was pretty short. I loved how it felt to use the fire, but I didn't enjoy the other weapons as much. This is likely because there is a lack of feedback when you hit an enemy; no sound or visual effect to indicate that you hit something. For fire, it makes sense that it wouldn't actually hit them as much is it would pass through and burn them, and the screen shake made it feel even better, but for the other weapons it just didn't seem like I was really doing much. It also didn't seem like there was much of a difference between the different enemies. Despite those issues, it still felt great to shoot through hordes of them and watch the soul counter go up. It wasn't the most innovative of games, and it didn't really fit the theme, and even if you implemented the selling-souls-for-currency feature you mentioned in the description it would still be relatively weak. I enjoyed the graphics (especially in the opening cutscene), and I loved the music and sound effects as well. The opening cutscene was charming, the ending was funny, and the gameplay created a sense of hectic charm. Overall, well done! A solid 4 stars from me!

Good job on the game. I really liked the opening sequence and it fit well with the theme. All of the different spells were cool to use, but it felt like the scythe was stronger than all the other options. It would be nice if there was more feedback when you hit enemies. Also it is possible to walk outside the room. Overall very nice game.

Clicked No, didn't sell my soul and won :id:

I like the style, reminds me of hotline miami!

I didn't find any reason to not use the scythe attack, and it was a bit hard switching back and forth between the attacks with just Q and E.

Great work with the attack sounds; they really made all the attacks feel forceful and distinct.

The game could use some more feedback when enemies are hit; I couldn't really judge which of the attacks was doing more damage, and mostly stuck to the fireball for the whole game.

Nice work overall, loved the intro.

Wait a second...Cuphead?

You did an amazing job on the graphics and music, don't know how, but i'm impressed.

i like the ending.

The devil is a cheap lying bastard >_<

The ability to say "No" to the initial offer right at the beginning was a nice touch, lol

This was a fun concept. The top-down was reminiscent of Hotline Miami. It actually was honestly a little too easy to win, though, so long as you keep moving in a direction.

I couldn't figure out how to change powerups til after playing and winning. They don't seem to do too much to differentiate themselves mechanics-wise, though, at least as far as I could tell. Maybe a "hit" animation would help show when enemies were being affected or what's more effective.

Replaying it also stressed a desperate need to be able to skip the intro cutscene, especially because it's annoying that it locks the mouse, even in windowed mode.

Good game, very nice cutscene. Like others said, the player needs feedback(s) when he hits an enemy. To choose spell, the 1-5 keys could be a good shortcut. One last advice: you should hide the mouse cursor during cutscenes ^^.

Nice pixelart! The intro was pretty good, gameplaywise I found out that spamming scythes was the one trick solution to all my problems :P Some hit-feedback would be good, sound and/or healthbars. Differentiating attacks would be interesting, perhaps with some enemies being immune to certain attacks, forcing you to switch.

webox 2019-05-11 19:28

You're gna amazing pixel artist!! I imagein most of the missing things like effects are due to lack of time so I'm going to ignore that. I can see each weapon having a different effect, like fire, slow, etc. Nice twin stick controllers, you should add whatever part you planned and couldn't do in time. Great game!

I loved so many things about your game ! You do not often see LD entries that provide a fun challenge while also being finishable and offering enough content for a full experience. Awesome work !

Pros : - The graphics, the cutscene, the overall polish - Great mechanics, controls and juice - Well balanced

Cons : - Upping the difficulty by a margin while adding health items would add a lot to the game - Where is my money ?

Awesome design and audio!

I didn't feel any difference between spells, so I used the fastest one by holding down LMB.

puppetmaster 2019-05-12 10:15

I like the introduction to the game with the intro and the little joke. Well done game, congratulations.

kacper 2019-05-12 22:53

Good job! :)

roque 2019-05-12 22:56

tl;dr: Very nice entry for the LD!

Enjoyed your cutscenes, for the narrative, the music and artstyle. The gameplay was very simple but well done. Nice that you put variety with your enemies and attacks BUT the only attack that seemed effective for me was the spinning scythe. Also, the hosting for download the game was very nice to see, is a small detail but really beatiful to see.

dreamingdice 2019-05-19 17:01

Nice entry man. The graphics and sound are fantastic and the intro movie really floored me, don’t see those too often in a game jam. I loved the little Easter egg where if you hit "no" in the beginning, game just closes (lol). I think the only things worth fixing for future iterations would be to give some feedback when enemies get hit, particularly when you hit them with their weakness (I assume the fire guys die easier to the ice attack, for example) since you went through the trouble of adding multiple attacks. Good work man!

I loved this game and it was a total riot to play , reminded me of one of my early ideas i had for this game jam
