Nice story, it was fun playing it! I couldn't find that one last evidence for a long time when I kinda understood already what happened there but I managed in the end
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → The Devil Lurks in Coin

I really liked this game. I love a good detective noire story, and this is definitely one! The evidence matching mechanic gets really messy towards the end when there's a lot of stuff going on, but managed to finish it. I am now on my way to Tahiti, never looking back.
@zhanna Thank you for playing!
@gno-evenimente Thanks for playing! Yes it definitely gets messy at the end! Enjoy Tahiti!
Well done !
One of my favourite entries! Thanks a lot guys! @raphiell @samazki
Awesome game! You should make more games like this. 9.5/10
I love the take on the theme. An amazingly well-written story. I'm grateful for the option to mute music the base was a bit too much.
I like that towrads the end you feel almost drowing in clues/evidence I feel it really immerses you into the detective character.
Overall greate Jam game!
Oh, how I've missed a good game with a conspiracy board. This entry hit the spot :)
Hi! I really love these kind of mystery narrative adventures, and I like how the scrappy sketchy artstyle fits the atmosphere of the game! Really good and clean entry overall! :D
This is really well done. I really liked piecing things together on the board. I did get a little stuck though and ended up feeling a little bit like I was trying everything against everything else just to see what would work. Overall though, I really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Very nice idea and great work on the it. I didn't manage to solve it but I think I was near the end. I liked how you grey out combinations that have been tried. The board became pretty messy at the end, but I guess that's how is it with detectives
This is really cool way how to do real detective story. I really enjoy this game.
Thank you @sigo!
Thanks for playing @shaner421!
@DevParty Thanks so much, that's very kind!
Thanks @maximilian-ansell! There really is a lot at the end. Glad you enjoyed the writing!
@wilhelmstein Thanks so much, we appreciate it!
Thanks @keppersnapper! We're glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks @kernon! It definitely can get a bit overwhelming but we're glad you played!
@sli Thanks! Yes that was a must have feature for us since we knew it'd get messy!
@maslostvarohem Thanks!
Good to see a fellow corkboard game! Very creative interface for going through an investigation.
Here are some notes: * One tiny thing, I think your toxicity report says "upstream" when it should say "downstream" * I thought Mr. Richardson was going to a talk where I could find him? * Comparing the schedules, I mentioned "last person to see Mr. Taylor alive" but I did not suspect he was dead. * It took me a lot of random clicking to find out about the Speakeasy * I am now totally stuck after getting the 3rd clue.
I'm pretty bad with names and remembering stuff, so it would be helpful to have a little note about each of these items on the board. I forgot who Roger Mayweather is supposed to be basically immediately. I feel like I'm so close! But I sadly have to call it quits.
Cool game! Thanks for making something fun and new :)
@madbarron Thanks for playing and giving the comprehensive feedback!
The talk with Mr Richardson at it was going to be a clue at one point, but we ended up cutting it.
Regarding the notes on the items, yes that would have been good! Just like a little message explaining what it is when you zoom in.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This game was so sick!! the art was adorable, the gameplay was intuitive and the controls were responsive! Very impressive for a jam game! You should be proud!
I just got carried away and gave this one full score on every account. Stylistic visuals and sounds, nice story, great twist on the theme. Also great usage of game mechanics to make player feel like a detective. Great job, congrats!
Very nice game! I loved the music style, but had a problem with it, the sound was skipping a lot, I had to turn it off as it was not agreable.
Very great concept though :)
Really good game! I've always wanted to create a detective style game but I could never wrap my head around clues and how they would connect and such. This game gave me some ideas, so I thank you for that. Graphics are very very good, and the music sets the mood appropriately. Really impressive for a 3 day game. The story is believable and the fact that there are multiple endings is much appreciated. 5/5. Well done!
@bungalow Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!
@ragnor Wow that's amazing, thank you so much! We're so glad you liked it.
Thanks for playing @titaninette. Sorry you encountered problems with the music!
Thanks @learus! So glad you liked it!
I think this is one of my favorite entries as well. I loved everything in this game - perfect fit for the theme, also music and nice art style sets the right mood. Exciting story and fun mechanics. I played your game 3 times already C:
Thanks so much for your kind words @siliel. That's so awesome to hear!
Having everything tied to this bulletin board of strings is very nice.
A very clear way of showing who is speaking. A little motion, a little brightness. Very nice.
I love that it shows you which combinations you have already tried. Very handy.
@mattwoelk Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the little bits of polish we put on, we're proud of the feel of playing it!
Smart take on the theme! I enjoyed the setting with some art deco backgrounds and the speakeasy.
Great game, good job!
I love the mystery solving! I assume there's 3 different endings, based on who you talk to- though I'm not going to play the game 3 times just to see them all. I love the artwork, and the music is nice too! Seriously great job.
@adrupen Thanks for playing!
@100th-coin Yes, there are three endings. If you talk to the cops you find out they're crooked and get killed, talking to the wife you just let it blow over, and lastly talking to the reporter publicizes the cult and is the "best" ending. Thanks for playing!
Having the bulletin board build up with the different clues you've collected and letting you rearrange them is super cool! Moving the pieces around gives you a sense of ownership over it, this is YOUR board of clues. It's a really cool way of granting access to the different story events. Great job!
@junebug Thanks for playing! Yea the dragging around was a feature I really enjoyed adding, and then playing with!
Nice detective, but the cult thing seemed quite obvious. Still, personally I'm very into this kind of solving/mind board stuff, and the quest part was intriguing. I think, the board is too small, however makes you draw a lot of pentacles). Digged deeper, got the reporter ending. Music seemed fine at the beginning, but then got a bit off with the detective work and cult stuff. Overall, very enjoyable! Maybe, with better character design this is a potential hit (as a part to a bigger narrative). Liked that the options tried aren't available anymore, otherwise this would be a very hard game to play through. Keep the good work up!
I might be biased because I LOVE detective games, but I really, *really* enjoyed this! It brought back a lot of memories of playing these types of games, I think you got the aesthetic, mechanics, and mood spot-on.
I was really impressed by how well this flowed and overall made sense, considering how (literally) tangled everything was, and considering the time restraints. Everything important to the gameplay was really well done and quite comprehensive, e.g. the evidence connecting mechanic, the evidence you've already connected graying out (though it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realise why it was doing that, oops), and so on. Being able to click through text was very appreciated!
The art was overall very nice. Great character designs and color palette! I enjoyed the typeface used for dialogue, though a few letters were a bit busy (the "c"s were especially curly, I think?). I came across the music glitch as well, crackling occurred, but only when I moved my mouse...very strange, but music was appropriately atmospheric ignoring that.
I was so thrilled while playing this game and connecting the evidence, and even more excited when I got the ending choices. I was so absorbed that I didn't noticed the graying-out mechanic as mentioned earlier, I think that speaks to how well it worked! Very nice!
Out of curiosity, have you played [Cultist Simulator](https://store.steampowered.com/app/718670/Cultist_Simulator/)? I was reminded of that as I played your game, I really enjoy the mechanic of dragging elements/evidence together and I hope to see it in more fully fledged games in the future.
Thank you for making this, it was truly enjoyable and truly impressive! Good luck, and we hope to see you in Ludum Dare 49!

@ardorugus Thanks for playing! Everyone is mentioning the greying out of options in their reviews, so I'm really glad I added it!
@celtico Thank you for the comprehensive review! No idea on the sound issue, I never got it personally, I feel like it may be an issue with the web build (as I mostly played it in editor). YES! I LOVE cultist simulator, I convinced @samazki (the artist) to do it in that style, and we're glad it came across.
