Cool game, a bit hard to control. You should probably explain the controls somewhere. It took me a bit before realizing you could rotate with Q/E. Simple but fun

kingofnova 2021-04-27 11:08

Control was tough I keep trying to press the arrow keys to move and the perspective is something I just could not get to used to keep failing when I though I still had a tick. Fun game overall

nyanpierre 2021-04-28 00:00

control is hard but its a good game !

sam-onella 2021-04-28 00:05

Cool concept, have to agree about the controls being a little too sensitive though. Good job overall

deruitda 2021-04-28 00:09

Could see myself playing this one for a while. Maybe add a way to make the game more challenging than just by increasing the tempo.

quasarium 2021-04-28 00:10

I think that this game is pretty fun but I feel that one of the biggest flaws was that the controls are a little too fast, which does add a challenge but it also makes the player feel like they arent in control. If you plan on continuing to update it, I would suggest pressing shift to make it move faster. Other than that, this is a great game! 4/5

ishmandoo 2021-04-28 00:13

Cool idea!

narajeamfry 2021-04-28 00:13

This is good. Really good. Would love to see it polished and improved, the only QoL improvement I really needed was a "fall faster" button for the first levels, but can't really ask for anything else aside from more content. Congrats!

gregfagan 2021-04-28 00:52

Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. Regarding sensitive controls, please see the CHANGELOG in the description; we identified and fixed a bug that could cause them to be more sensitive than intended.

They're still pretty sensitive at the designed value though, so your feedback is appreciated for our post-jam version of the game. Stay tuned!

Unfortunately the game seems unplayable on my computer, I get only 4 frames between two tetrominos. Is this a bug that can be fixed?

gregfagan 2021-04-28 22:14

@fractal thanks for taking a look at our game. we will be working on improving the performance. If you get a chance, would you see if the game runs better in a smaller window? What browser are you using?

noble-robot 2021-04-29 10:53

Great design! It didn't seem to work at all in Firefox (the game would start and I could move/rotate the tetromino, but the floor would never rise and music didn't play), but Chrome is the new IE6, so I won't hold that against you.

Once I got it running in a compatible browser, like others, I felt the game and controls moved a little too fast. Also, with the rotation mapped to Q and E, it made it hard to play because my left hand is busy using WASD. Mapping the rotation to LMB/RMB or the left/right arrow keys might make it a little more manageable, even at the current speed.

I love the audio, the art, the concept, the whole tone and feel. The whole package is simple and elegent. Ultimately, I didn't actually have a lot of fun actually playing the game, but I gave it high marks across the board anyway because it's such a fantastic proof-of-concept!

@noble-robot Thanks for the feedback! There was a bug in Safari that I just fixed and it looks like it might have fixed Firefox, as well. Cross-browser testing definitely took a back seat over the weekend 😅 Thanks again!

Cool take on tetris! Surprisingly the first one I've seen so far this LD. Agree that a list of the controls up front would be good - I floundered for a few minutes trying to do a standard top down tetris type of play! (even _after_ figuring out Q/E :-P )

madbarron 2021-05-01 01:02

Cool little game, I love the presentation! I would suggest adding rotate keys for the right hand, so the player doesn't have to move their fingers off WASD. Fun name, too

krassenstein 2021-05-01 01:02

This is awesome take on Tetris! An option for changing the volume of the sound would have been nice as the music was pretty loud. Well done!

adam-selker 2021-05-01 01:08

Works great in Firefox on Linux here! =)

nandelind 2021-05-01 03:52

This is a cool idea, but it took me quite a while to figure out what to do.

quetzakol 2021-05-01 08:00

Nice idea. It was quite fun, and the graphics are simple but with a nice aesthetic. As others have mentioned, the controls were a bit too sensitive. I kept dying only because the block moved by two steps when I only wanted to do one. I'd rather have to press the button twice if I want to move twice, or add a longer delay before it keeps moving.

linky439 2021-05-01 08:02

That's a good idea you got here! Playing some sort of 3D Tetris by having to place the pieces correctly was well thought-off. I just thought the game movement was way too fast, as it often found myself unable to align my piece correctly (it was always one "pixel" too much on the left, then the right, back to the left, etc.)

Otherwise, the game has tons of potential. The graphics were clear enough to figure out where to go, which was nice. Congrats!

gno-evenimente 2021-05-01 08:51

Really great idea! Fun new twist on using the tetris pieces. Takes a little getting used to the controls, but very solid entry!

geckoo1337 2021-05-01 20:40

Great casual game with a solid execution. It works well as expected. An interesting variant from Tetris. Your project fits with the theme with originality. It could be better on mobile device no ? As they said you could reduce sounds - too loud for my ears. Overall well done ++

olddog 2021-05-03 07:41

nice game idle !!, the lightning make me feels not very good

pbg 2021-05-04 11:51

Fun game! I would have preferred arrow keys for controls, and to use my other hand to rotate, but I got the hang of it. I love the aesthetics, and the music is really excellent. Would love to see more of a "tetris" game, instead of just how fast you can keep up with placing the right pieces. Nicely done!

igor-kingamer 2021-05-06 00:02

Simple and fun!

The blocks could have some transparency not to hide where the hole is (what happens when it's near the center of the play area).

Sometimes I had that double-rate issue, sometimes not.

And good job with procedural generation! I think the concept could somehow be explored further, but it's interesting and the result was nice.

tkers 2021-05-06 16:03

This is fun! The simple graphical style and the beat synced to the gameplay gave off some sort of Super Hexagon vibes, I like it!
