Resolution was off in browser so I couldn't see what my next piece was. Sound ended up looping over itself so there were two tracks playing at once. First level ended before the timer reached 0. Otherwise a good pipe-dream clone. Graphics created a good harmony to the game.

@Dekobii Thanks for noticing, I uploaded an older build of the finished game, but I fixed it :) So the resolution works properly again.
The level would have ended if your calorie count (top left, so it might not have been visible) reaches 0 (you lost...), or if the timer finished (win, yay!). I'm not sure what's going on with the music, it sounded normal for me?

What a cute game! I had the same issues as @Dekobii and couldn't see the next piece if I played fullscreen. If I played within the browser, I couldn't read any of the text so I had no idea which way my tower was going to shoot. :( The sound is also very cute (and fits the setting well!) but it did loop, so I made sure to refresh inbetween each play.
I think you combined the genres well, though! It was never a doubt in my mind that it was a card-based tower defense game, which is really awesome, considering how tough this theme was!
And the donuts and pies! So so so cute! I'd pay for stationary in this theme. :) Great entry!

Nice game, great interpretation of the theme. It seems like card-based games are pretty trendy on this LD
The graphics is sweet, but the mood could be improved by having sound effects, and not (mostly) only the music. It also seems that the cookies can be partially diverted by having multiple possible routes, this wasn't clear to me in the beginning. I guess this is part of the design, to make it less difficult to finish?

Well, the game was ok until i died 3 times and had 3 soundtracks playing at the same time and I couldn't take it anymore  , it's a cool idea but i couldn't really figure out the tower system fast enough :7 sorry.

It took me a couple of tries to get used to it, but I do like the idea, that you can make phase 1 harder on yourself by building a proper maze and if you still make it you profit in phase 2. As it happens, when i finally got a proper mazelike structure working in phase one, the movement patterns in phase 2 got much less readable^^
Dpendign on RNG constantly click-selectign different tiles can get annoying in phase 1,

Well, let me start by saying I'm offended for I'm a very pro-munchies guy myself  I really liked the pipe dream part, it was really fun and nostalgic! Now the second part I didn't get. The nano bots would appear at random positions that I could not change and even though I *managed* to keep the food out of the way. It said "you failed" followed by "you beat the munchies". Also, when I was first building the pipe dream I failed, so when it restarted the soundtrack was playing twice! My maze was so elusive food actually went back the way they came :trophy:
Nice job!

Great Game! I really like this 'build the path you have to defend' mechanic. I was a bit confused at first, but after playing each phase once I figured it out.
I really like the idea behind this game, and the graphics are simple but cute. I ran into some interesting outcomes while trying the game, such as enemies looping around and just straight up returning from where the came from, but that doesn't detract from how adorable it is.

so i didn't know that the towers are temporary. then this was my map and the munchies never get past to the end because RNG keep on putting them going in the wrong direction AS WELL AS going back! the game still count me as lost even though I have full health.
there might be a slight bug with the music overlappingUntitled.png each other

Turns out the game will ALWAYS say you failed... stay salty.
@emiko & @Q-ro I (think) I figured out the music issue, so I'll fix that tomorrow! @Dekobii was right the first time!
@mshopf Yes, the thought was that you can make the path more complicated so the munchies can't reach the end as easily!
@radow Building out a maze like path can be really fun. I originally had the pieces always checking directions in order [top->left] so it was SO predictable. I set out to choose a custom ordering each time, but then I had to keep track of which directions were already used before so the munchies didn't backtrack TOO much. Although it doesn't seem to work properly 5% of the time and they end up looping. I think it's a bug in the neighbor detection actually :(
@Tikikala There's definitely a bug that causes the munchies to loop on certain layouts. Although I haven't looked yet, as I said, I suspect its the neighbor detection code. You likely survived the game, even though it's mean and will say you lost!
@gdort The second part had 4 different card types, a tower that faced in each direction. A tower will shoot the nano bots in that direction (which will hit one square away) and after 15 seconds, a tower will disappear!
@dayn9 & @AugusteTheClown and everyone so far, thanks! And thanks for trying the game out :D

As you warn about using full screen mode, I didn't used it, but this way I couldn't read properly the towers infos, so I wasted some of them, not knowing wich side it was facing. Except of that, I managed to win the game, mainly by chance. The concept itself seems good to me, and maybe deserves to be exploited more⦠Any post-jam version planed ?

Nice combination of genres! I was eventually able to thwart the munchies and survive. I found that creating a lot of loops would cause the munchies to have a difficult time finding the end of the maze. Lucky for me because I used up all of my towers pretty early on! Nice job!

It was hard to get the hang of it, I'm not sure if I understood what the idea was. The art for the cakes and donuts was pretty cute and I liked the music.
*I am the* **MUNCHIE MASTER! **
Music, art, programming; this is a lot for one person to complete in a handful of days! And it works! The color palette was good, and the music wasn't bad either. The game works fine and the mechanics are fun. With a good team I'd be excited to see what you could make.
Hrm, on to business...
For this game to make sense and to understand the controls fully, you might have to thoroughly read the manual. Having more content in the realm of helping the player figure out the game, or making the interface user friendly would be the best improvement in my book. Still, with your aloneness this is great work!!
WOOOOOOOOOT! That was great fun! Also, really cool to see that you're still working on it. Keep up the good work!
Geez this must've been so much coding to even get the base game up and running, I commend you! The game was the perfect difficulty level for me. I could just barely get the maze finished in time sometimes, though I did get the hang of the 2nd phase on the next try. Lots of breadth done for an LD, nice work.
