This game is fun. I LOVE KILLING ELVES !!
Wow the art was really good, I really appreciated the intro story sequence. Fun little game, I liked the Lemming feel to the it.
Good - Solid game with high polish - Love the custom graphics and morbid theme - Twist on tower defense games, pretty smart
Could be improved - The traps dissapear after a few seconds, making it pretty frustrating to play as most elves escape - It is unclear how the "money" to buy traps was generated, making it hard to strategize. I was basically just setting poison traps everywhere and they expire faster than i can replenish them
I agree with kambing on the traps being more frustrating than enjoyable.
I think it might be more interesting to have a trap budget, set them once, and let things roll (ie more of a setup puzzle than an active game). If you want to improve the current design, consider some kind of indicator on how long before the traps disappear, so the player knows when to replace them.
The saw traps seem overly powerful compared to others. There might have been a tradeoff, but it wasn't really clear.
The art is all wonderful, and the intro comic was a nice touch (even if the controls to advance through it were a bit weird)
In general I like what you've done here, and would love to see more work on this in a post-compo release!
A very funny, but also pretty brutal Christmas game.
I agree with kambing on the traps being more frustrating than enjoyable. I think they just need to last a little longer.
It looks like you need to kill elves to generate money to buy traps to kill elves? Maybe I am doing it wrong, but I feel like most of them escape before I even have enough to place defenses.
Otherwise, amazing; Highest rated game yet!
Lol, what an idea! I really had fun like never!
Was able to sacrifice 215 and let 52 escape. I mostly just used trap 6 and blocked the exits, the other traps didn't seem to be as useful. Overall, nice art and setup with the story. Keep up the good work!
music is great ... it has a very cool and fun vibe the trailer is quite nice too the animations are fantastic IMHO some blood and gore would add a lot to the game, making it like a tragic comedy perhaps ... Love this entry anyway =) nice work!
btw there is a very very good brazillian cartoon called "irmão do jorell" this reminds me a bit of it ... I mean it this is really good
Hilarious entry, I love how you used the theme to create a twist on a tower defense game. I have actually never seen anything like this before. The entire experience is very well polished and I had a blast murdering those smug little elves. Great job!
Your game was played on my stream ( twitch.tv/ursagames ) for the second day of Ludum Dare streams - you can find the timestamp of your game here: https://goo.gl/N2rkr8
Nice graphics! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/8gcHVPkzZQo
The graphics and the audio were nice. I enjoyed the cheery atmosphere as I destroy some elves. One thing I found myself doing a lot was trying to click the traps versus using the num keys.
Overall a well polished entry, good job!
Cool, a reversed lemmings hahaha! nice job!
Fantastic art style that really pulled me into the game right away. I did find myself using trap 6 almost exclusively because I understood how it worked the best and it seemed to be the most effective. Had a lot of fun playing and trying to beat my score.
Fun concept, polished art and audio, music feels right, fun elf demise noises, and I appreciate the time put into actually explaining the game and setting it up inside the game instead of in a description box. Couldn't see any technical glitches or hiccups in my playthroughs.
A little oddly balanced. I managed to get somewhere around 52 escaped and 208 sacrificed just by putting spike traps on top of each doorway and beside each doorway, constantly refreshing them when they expired. Most elves died to a single trap before stepping off of it, and the ones that came in from above just fell on top of the trap and got stuck (which was funny and appeased the serial killer in me, but still).
I'm impressed that this came out of a 3-day challenge. Nice job!
Nice job!! Art is beautiful. I loved killing elves in funny ways!
Very nice game, I like the complexity you achieved in just 72 hours!
Nice graphics and audio! Killing the elves was pretty fun, but I seemed like I could get away with just putting tons of saws right next to the exits :P
